I appreciate what you said about people saying black women hate themselves. Like no I know I'm fearfully and wonderfully made bless the Lord for that. And it's disrespectful coming at Gina like that, I love how you stood up for her. People especially black People come for white hairstylist for not knowing how to do black hair and then again when they know how to do it they still come for them. Leave people alone. Love them and if you can't love them be quiet and mind your business. I stand with you sis.
This is beautiful! As far as dryness while in protective styles; oil isn’t a moisturizer, it’s a sealer. So moisturize with paraben free products and add oil after it’s juicy and moisturized. Moisturize while your hair is still good and wet. Low porosity hair moisturizes better while wet. After it’s moisturized add your oil. It helps a lot! Also don’t wash your hair while in cornrows because then you can’t treat it after washing the product out. So it’s makes it so much harder to properly care for when it comes down. Just some tips I’ve learned along the way.
You said that Gina has learned black hair. Do you have a video of Gina styling natural 4c hair without chemicals. I mean even after doing the Gina curl she still doesn't style it 🤷🏾♀️
@@jasmineogunyemi2658 honestly this is just how it falls after months of braids and corn rows and manipulation FOR ME. And remember I said my hair gets thin from that without a Gina curl. Some people maintain a lot better through the months than I do. But when I get it done it snaps right back and looks healthy again with fresh curls. I’ll share when it’s fresh again. And she definitely has videos styling natural hair, but her page is dedicated to the Gina curl and straight variation so you’re probably not gonna see much other than that on there.
Stumbled on your videos while researching Gina Curl. First off- LOVE you in EVERYTHING I see you in! You are talented and beautiful! Thank you for the hair updates- you got me thinking about making a change just for the manageability aspect.
She doesn’t understand what’s truly happening to her hair n what’s to come. Gina curl can’t be undone. time will tell Gina curl isn’t good it’s damaging but to each it’s own
you are beautiful! I watched the video you made when you first got it and now watching this, and your hair is noticeably much thinner. Your hair is so beautiful, just hope the Gina Curl is not damaging it.
Hi Loren, I’m so excited to see your Gina Curl update! I’ve been very curious to see what hair looks like with bigger curls at this length and it is beautiful 🥰. I, myself, chose pink and blue rods for my first Gina Curl and really love the look🥰. However, when I go in for my very first retouch next month, I’m going to get the pink rods for a looser elongation and can hardly wait. 🥰
Did this, it makes my hair so tangled no matter how much I comb it. Can't wait for it to grow out. Maybe not at this length, but when you reach 15+ inches.
When your hair is cornbraided, you have to "water" it every day. Get a spray bottle, put your favorite leavein's inside, and add a bit of your oil to the mix, shake it up until its 1 texture. (It helps to add marbles to help the mixing), then fill it with water. Shake it up, then spray your hair..😉
Have you noticed your hair thinning over time? i want to get a gina curl but thinning hair is my biggest concern. when i had regular perms my hair got thinner over time
Sorry but now it looks over processed now .. it did look great when you first got it but the chemicals have made your texture too straight . maybe will be better if you put some curl rods in
Like I mentioned in the video, when I’m shooting it’s harder for me to give it the attention it needs. Especially when it’s braided for months under a wig. When I check out other girls they don’t have this same issue. Luckily When I go to Gina she works her magic and it comes right back! But umm… thanx I guess
I think that is one of the cons of the Ginacurl- the curls do drop overtime but with retouches they get refreshed- not sure how without reprocessing but they don’t overlap. And you’re not supposed to do any protective styles like braids, weaves, wigs where you don’t have access to you hair. It’s meant to be washed and combed at least once a week. So you have to want the look of the GC not go back to covering your hair up. Besides when you drop almost $1k on a style you should show it off! I understand for Loren it’s work commitment making her stay in cornrows
Yeah it looks very over processed. It doesn’t read as wavy or curly..just see through and frizzy. This issue plus the new growth js why the gina curl is a no go
I Love it. My arms were arching last night after a wash and then putting it into 2 braids (cause I'm at camp). But yeah 4c hair requires a lot of strength and time. But I also love my texture so much I don't think I'm ready to get a curly perm though it's something I have been considering.
Hey Loren ! You can put a heavy cream based leave in conditioner and water in a spray bottle and does your hair should in braids to keep it moisturized! I recommend waiting until after the first time you wash your braids bc the combo or gel/products in your braids and leave in and easier will make it VERY musty smelling. Good luck girl💖
Some of the comments in this comments section are waaaaay beyond me. I don't understand the blatant disrespect some people are giving you regarding YOUR hair, but to me, these comments greatly resemble the not so great art of jealousy. I think your hair is absolutely gorgeous! I wish I could have my curly hair that length, but my face shape and what my hair does when it's on the shorter side once it dries...nope, I just can't do it because I'd look like Crusty The Clown 🤣 so I have to keep mine very long. You're gorgeous! The hair. The face. The angelic singing voice. You have it ALL ❤
People who don't have so-called 4c hair should not comment on it. I had this same conversation with people in the last three days. I love my hair. I just want it manageable. Spent an hour and a half in the shower four days ago detangling my hair and almost fainted doing it. Just too much. Now, where I live, there's absolutely no hairdresser who can do my hair. Always done it myself but could do with a break now, however, it's looks like I'm stuck doing it myself. That's okay. I want to wear my hair in an afro but I can't, unless I plan to shave my head afterward. I love my hair big and I don't give a hoot about frizz either. What's that? I just can't spend a third of my life sleeping, another third being a parent and the other third doing "wash days." Not going to work. I've been wanting to get a Gina curl but I can't yet. I can't live in braids forever and I don't wear wigs. I have not relaxed my hair in about fifteen years, if I'm counting correctly... and guess what? My tubs of relaxer are being delivered tomorrow. I can't relax it yet because my head is still hurting from wash day, four days ago, plus, it wouldn't be good to do it so close after washing my hair... not to mention the fact that I'm still hesitant. It's getting done either way. I don't have this time in life to spend perpetually gently detangling my hair and having throbbing headaches afterward. When I get tired of the relaxer or when it starts not looking the way I think it should, I'll go back natural like I've done before and probably lock it for a while... until I feel like changing it again. Again, people who don't have "4c" hair... shut up!... pretty please... and I'm very aware that there are people who think they have 4c hair but... ummm... okay... I'll leave it there. Enjoy your Gina curl girl.
Until you have cried trying and spending hours doing your hair and your hair still doesn’t come out DONT TALK TO US. We work so much harder. We do our part with half the results. and there’s just nothing more frustrating than taking the time to detangle and the arm paiinnnnsss and the giving up. I ran into a whole area of RUclips of girls saying they hate their 4c hair and people were in the comments bashing them with their looser textures. Its just a different ball game and we really are trying.
get a foldable stool. found 1, yr ago at bed bath beyond approx 30$. enjoy your perm if you still decide to go that route; after much, much, much experimentation, i use the aunt jackies knot on my watch detangler and Tresemme shampoo and conditioner the black and green ones have done well for me (mane and tale are a little too stiff feeling for me now with the greys). as well as the African pride line for leave-in and curling creme. they just stay and go into my hair easier. it's 4c-z thick, holds heat if straitened, and mid back to waist length, when i take care of it. takes about 2 hours from start to finish.
Comments like this makes me glad I'm not 4c. I watch out of curiosity but dang, the constant self defeated words towards 4c,.. makes me happy with my hair.
This is just how it falls for me though after like…the 7th month. Especially after cornrows for weeks and wigs and filming. When I get it done again it snaps right back which I’ll share, and then I do the months all over again which is why it’s important for me to get it done EVERY 6 months.
You look lovely but I’m glad that I’ve learned how to care for my natural type 4 hair and it only takes 1 1/2 hours including drying and I use shampoo, conditioner and gel. I don’t use any oils or butter.
Loren, my 4c Sister gal, I dunno what happened to my previous comment, but umm.. girlfriend go try Nia LOC GOD hydration mist. It has worked wonders on my 4C hair while in cornrows and braids. @lorensharice try an old school remedy for your hair during the new growth stage: Infusium original leave-in treatment. I combine that with TGIN products and it helps a LOT with shedding and dryness.
i looooooovveeee the look i feel like my hair would look exactly like yours with a gina curl, def debating. but u should wear clip ins to get the fullness so u dont have to cut it and in another year ur hair will be even longer!!!!

The product is sitting on your hair if you put all those products on there and here is not moisturized use vitamin E oil 40,000 i.e. from Jason. Also use Garnier fruitis the curly line.

Stay away from gels and dont go to sleep with wet hair. The biggest thing is washing 2x a week and making sure to detangle with a wide tooth comb to remove shed hair
Gel is too hard and crunchy. Breaks the hair because it’s stiff. I guess you can slick it down but idk if you should sleep with it in. I’m not a big fan of baby hairs or slick edges so idc about sleek edges. I just let my edges be nappy after it grows out
You definitely can. 4c is a little harder to blend and lay down when it grows out so the texture mix takes work to put up but it can definitely be done.
@@LorenSharice have you tried pure aloe gel with something like peppermint/tea tree in it? The aloe is naturally moisturizing, soothes the scalp & is the same pH as hair. hi there! curious, can you straighten without compromising the curls?
No
You can do heatless curls but no flat ironing or blow drying
i have a question. can u do a wave noveou on transitioning hair?
You’re blocking hair follicles putting oil on your scalp daily. Your scalp produces its own oil(sebum).
I actually have eczema on my scalp so i do need oils. I’ve maintained it from patching for years though.

You can’t get Gina curl then turn around and get wave nouveau those are 2 different treatments similar but different
I believe she had the wave nouveau previously, they damaged her hair, she grew out natural again, then got the Gina curl.
My hair isn't silky or soft ..it will scratch kick and bite so touch at your own risk..and I am fine with that.
