Mannnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnn, this is the greatest thing on RUclips. I have been trying to learn DT songs from tabs and stuff but this is great. Along with explanation of the guitar parts, you are giving some great music theory class FOR FREE!!!!. You don't realize how helpful this is going to be for me to up my skills. From the bottom of my heart thanks boss.
This is the best guitar video on youtube. Ive been learning metropolis but this is next level stuff! Having all the chord theory os above and beyond. So grateful to have run into this channel.
Dude, you are the GOAT! Such a hard song, but that's what makes it so fun. Glad there are madmen such as yourself that make being self taught easier. Can't imagine the dedication it took just for you to learn the song, and then make a whole video. Cheers Roman!
x-mas last year I started on the journey to learn all images and words songs in order. The next one is surrounded. That one will be as "easy" as a DT song can be. And then ... metropolis ... it will take months alone. It is barely achievable for me. But holy, this will be so much fun if I can play it decently. Thank your for making such a tutorial. The amount of work u had to put in must be of the charts
Super cool to see it, keep at it and you just might surprise yourself. And yes, the amount of work these take is off the charts, but in the end, worth it.
Welp as far as I can tell RUclips is run by advertisers at this point so it's all quick clicks and quick bucks, everything else gets thrown to the back of the line. I appreciate the comment, though. It's growing slowly but steadily.
Each Time I watch one of your vidéo, it’s a big musical slap in my face ! TY very much for all you do ! Hope one day you will teach us « scene from a memory » which is my absolute fav album !!!!
Love to hear that.. Scenes From A Memory is in the cards but I've been going in chronological order so I gotta do Falling Into Infinity first. Thinking of doing some bonus episodes too since there have been requests from that time period.
@@RomanovaMusick Let me give you a nice bonus exercice : « The Spirit carries on » the intro solo before the song, on the Score DVD. Wonderfull solo !!!! Love your work !
Bro!!! So glad I found this vid!! I bought the TAB book for this album specifically for this song to learn about 2 weeks ago and I could tell something was missing!!! Thank you for figuring it out! 🤘🏼
Yeah man it's crazy to say but this might be the only place you'll find that missing part from the tab book aside from going to petrucci himself lol thanks and glad you dig it
Omg! This is amazing! I'm on a mission to master all the DT parts I always wished I could play when I was a teen getting into guitar in 2000. I was looking for tabs on the Dixie Dregs section and with your excellent explanations I know I will get this down! Rock on :D
Excellent lesson. I've been meaning to do a Metropolis Part 1 project for years! This is well paced, informative and entertaining. Great playing too. Thank you!
Because youve already played al those notes prior And now you gotta play even higher And the action has to be just as precise Best rap lyrics I heard in a while
Was here for THAT part that you called '' Arkanoid '' ... Man its the final boss as u said and u are a boss ! Great video and remember death is not the end but only a transition 😁
I just discovered your channel and immediately subscribed. You are just amazing!!! It's perfect the way you have to explain well and for the tablatures. I hope you will release many more Dream Theater titles. Congratulations and thank you again for the job you do!!
That means a ton!!! Glad you appreciate the work, it's a hefty undertaking.. haha I've been working through Awake as of late so be sure to keep up with the latest vids.
This is phenomenal, thanks man! Many of these riffs have gotten stuck in my head many times and this is a great learning resource. I find that I improve most as a player when I learn this stuff lol.
"welcome to internet comment shreddiquette, I'm your host, Erik". Phenomenal vid man. Haven't tried this song properly since about a decade ago. Gonna give it another crack now :)
@@BonoSlayer1 Unfortunately I have not saved most of the tabs that I made for these tutorials so they only exist on the video.. I was thinking of going through and creating my own full versions of the tabs but I just haven't found the time to do all of that.
@@BonoSlayer1 what winds up happening is a chop up the guitar pro file as a .png to fit in the vid, and then as soon as I'm finished putting the vid together, I delete everything. What I'll do from now on is save a folder with all of the tabs in it since you're not the first person who has asked about this.
@@RomanovaMusick That's a great idea. There's a benefit to the tabs only being on the video in that I'm forced to slow down and not jump ahead as much as a full text. I've already learned so much from this vid. Thanks! Gonna be hitting up some more of your series.
It is free just understand how much goes into it and consider making a donation.. I'm very happy you found it useful, though, I know I could've used this way back when I was first learning this stuff haha keep shreddin'
haha.. yeah man, I didn't originally intend on making it like an encyclopedia for DT but it just happened that way... glad it's helpful. It's there for the serious heads to comb through
This helps a lot as you are counting along as you play it. Just from reading the notation I have extreme difficulty counting but since you outlined the count pattern now I know how fast I should count lol.
Great videos man. You explain it as much as needed. you dont hold our hand through it. you show us what it is. give us some tips(normally how to count it) and move one. leaving some challenge left and self fulfillment. Keep it up man
Glad it's helpful.. and wow I'm very happy that something is left to you the viewer after all this, I can't stand it when people insist on holding your hand through something.. That's never very effective. However, I will admit that these videos would be 5 hours long if I hung out on these riffs too much haha
Thank you so much for those explanations! I was trying to correct my tabs listening to the isolated guitar tracks and you've been really helpfull here! i don't understand how those "official" tabs can have so many mistakes...
This may be the only tutorial of this song on all of RUclips! A feat well deserving of maximum kudos! Thanks for slaying that pesky Arkanoid for us all! John Petrucci should invite you over for some beers! lol
Excellent job,... woww you are so cool, one of the best explanations out here, never seen one like this before, thanks for doing this, hope you do take the time and acid rain by liquid tension experiment, thatll be so cool, there is nothing like out here, thanks again.
Amazing stuff here. I feel like I could get most of this down reasonably well, but the final boss section would just break my brain. So much weirdness going on in there. Oh well, always something to learn and improve.
Love it! focusing on their composition and theory is gold as nobody's doing it! Suggestion : could you start by stating the key, then when talking about the chords, mentioning their numbers (I, II, III, iV...), to know how these chords relate to the key and the progression, Thanks!!
Thanks, man. I try to do chord analysis for most of the songs I cover.. Just keep in mind the sheer amount of stuff there is to go through in these songs lol ..
Very nice! I like the theory explained throughout. The only thing I would improve is to show the ENTIRE TAB of all gtrs linked together at the end or beginning, so the whole song can be observed and parts are easily returned to rather than the only tab being the pieces and snippets as you explain it. This makes it very cumbersome to go back and forth to different parts of the tab of the song...
Glad you dig it.. I've been trying to include as much as possible in one line as far as the tabs go.. I don't like the way 2 or more lines looks with the presentation so I avoid doing that.. It may be cumbersome but let's be fair here you're learning metropolis pt 1.. Haha doesn't get more cumbersome than that.
You might've just given me an idea for further expansion on these videos.. perhaps a tab/analysis as the song plays so it can be focused on as larger chunks.. we shall see.
Damn dude, this is going to sound corny as hell, but you're like a lost brother halfway across the world. My girlfriend literally shouted out 'It's you!' when she saw me watching your vids and playing along to see if we played the songs in the same way 😂 Metallica, Dream theater, gaming, the mesa boogie, the corny jokes, the interest in music theory, the hair and beard, the love of verbose verbiage, and the acceptance of our lord and savior, sir Kevin Moore,...
