On one hand, I would agree that battle raps should be fun. On the other, I don't believe anyone thinks this is a battle after Meet the Grahams. Kendrick is trying to end Drake's career and make him disappear. He's trying to destroy him and leave nothing to find. If the internet and modern media weren't permanent, this would be akin to attempted damnatio memoriae. Shit got as serious as it can without people rolling up and throwing hands or shooting at each other.

Kendrick actually did the ending of the song that way on purpose trolling, people were complaining for whatever reason about "Meet The Grahams" not being catchy & Drake's was (not really) like it matters on a Rap Battle/Beef, so Kendrick did a Dance out of it Clowning Drake! That went over some people's head but understandably

Yes, rap battles are supposed to be entertaining to an extent but when it comes to "disses", I personally think it's more between 'Bars/Disrespect' with a mixed of a good beat. What Kendrick did on "Meet the Grahams" is not supposed to be a fun, happy, entertaining track. He addresses dark shit about the industry and mainly Drake, it's supposed to bring attention to the shit we're not aware of. You're not supposed to feel good about hearing it, thus making his track do what it needed to do.
And the entertainment/spectacle aspect of it is how fitting it was in reply to drake's diss that dropped like 15 minutes before.
This battle is deeper than rap.

This isn’t just any typical rap battle. It’s two monkeys fighting over the same shitty banana. At first things were lighthearted. “First Person Shooter” threw shade, then “Like that” threw shade. Both songs were bops. Then Drake got butthurt and made it personal. So if you wanna have a good time, then listen to “Not Like Us”. The dirt is all in “Meet the Grahams”. Sure it’s emotional, but that’s what happens when you poke the bear for too long (lookin at you Drake) and it bites back.
I gotta agree with what the man said. We all came in with the hype of shit like HUMBLE and that Kendrick would incinerate Drake to ashes in the same fashion, only to get hit with something like this.
