Both this and the new IT trailer have been so great about that. I get that they have to make more trailers for marketing, but I won't watch any other trailer. This was a perfect amount of 'showing' without spoiling the whole movie.

Kubrick doesn't need some silly just due. The Shining is a part of Kubrick's legacy not the other way around. The Shining is but a very small thing compared to the man who made it. No one has ignored Kubrick's work lol. Kubrick is very widely celebrated as one of the best. King and his feelings aren't of any regard whatsoever.

Actually, a lot of Wendy Carol's music for the film, never made it onto the film. The only scene which her music was used, was the opening scene. A lot of the music was by the Polish composer Krzysztof Penderecki. Kurbrick ended up not using Wendy Carol's music she composed for the film, as he thought it sounded too much like the music he used from Clock Work Orange. Carlos has said that "she was so disillusioned by Kubrick's actions that she vowed never to work with him again."

Gotta say it's refreshing to see a horror trailer that isn't just a giant mishmash circle jerk of every beat to death cliche movie trope like almost every other god damn release in the last 15 years.
Such a great book. Love that Ewan was cast as Danny. I just hope there aren't a lot of flashbacks as there is so much story to tell from this current book in 2 hours.
I guess this could be considered spoilers, so just in case They visited the place the hotel used to be, they could of changed it to fit the shining movie or maybe is a vision

This is freaking me out. I saw the shining for the first time last month because I finally took an interest in stephen king and now they are announcing a sequel?! (I know it's not really a sequel, it's only danny who reappears, but still). I'm thrilled. Will be reading more king in the meantime, I've got a lot to catch up on.
It felt like kubricks pacing but they really need to drop the dark filter they are putting over a lot of modern films. Kubricks horror film was unique because it was so amazingly colorful

The book is much better if you completely ignore the fact that it's a sequel. Literally no reason to make it the sequel to The Shining, as absolutely nothing but one character relates back to the first book. Should've been its separate thing, as it had a shit ton of potential with the True Know vs Abra thing

It doesn't look faithful, actually. I can already see multiple minor differences, which could be a problem. (Brad Trevor is replaced by a girl, for one, and the rating doesn't seem like it will allow child death on-screen, which is what made the TK scary in the books)
@@925263 Or course there are minors changes, like in every adaptation. About the child death on screen, we don't know it yet and there are references to the Kubrick movie where there are dead child in it, so i'm pretty optimistic about that. We'll see!

They did the same thing in 'The Passage.' These authors who know that their books are going to be made into movies should just write the character as black. It would make the transition from book to screen a lot easier.

From what I’ve read online, Doctor Sleep is apparently going to take heavy influence from the book. Admittedly I’m biased towards the novels, but I’m very excited to see what they do, because I feel as if the books were organically connected in story and plot.
They are also taking liberties with exact Kubrick visions while King has admonished anything other than his great, but flawed book. Some of these references are as close to kubricks vision as they could legally make it. I love the peace bridge that was built for this. Possibly bigger than Trump and North Korea, but stilll. This is a hack job that should’ve been left alone. I really hope to be proved wrong.

There wasn't really any build up to the maniacy (not a real word, I know.) and it just made the Redrum part lame, it makes more sense if you've seen the original, but it wasn't executed quite like the Redrum scene in the original, I'm not trying to rag on a film in the trailer alone, and it doesn't need to be perfectly inline with the original, but a lot of the magic in the script, the mystery of the ending, not Jack in the picture, I mean what would happen to Wendy and Danny, so I think that's all it needs to do justice for. But I think I am looking forward to the film, just a bad and overly vague trailer, makes me more concerned about how the film will turn iutz and not the mysteries it's implying, but that mystery it implies I look forward to.
