- After 9 months of hard work we finally managed to reach our goal time in the speedrun of Dark Souls Remastered All Bosses and set a world record of 1:01:46! For better understanding of the speedrun, I have added post commentary to provide further insight into the major tricks and glitches used.

Impressive mate. I been watching these, and trying for years. Didn't even know it was still a thing. What is different is how you a) respond to comments in your run omg! and b) then overlay educational explanations and what you are doing and why, and why other suggestions may be slower.

I guess there isnt a loading screen (either due to a warp or a bon-out or a death) after him, so it would introduce unnecessary manual error if there is a split for him. In most other places since the timer pauses, the split points are consistent and have 0 human error.

"But throughout the entire run, it ends up saving about two or three seconds." The lengths people go for speedruns amazes me. The sheer amount of optimization is crazy.
Now figure you get the WR wit an amazing run and 1 hour later someone beats you by just 1 second because they did that trick. It would be absolutely devastating for you to loose your hard earned WR just because you were too lazy to do the trick.
Just realize he did 3632 attempts. That's insane.

seriously though, congrats! also it was more informative than nearly any other run I've seen too!
there's this one video called "why speedrunners hate their runs" that explains this pretty well. they put in hours of practice to be perfect, so any mistakes are failures while successfully performing a trick is expected.

Thank you so much for this. This should be considered the golden standard for speedrun videos. As someone who last kept up with Dark Souls All Bosses when it was around 1:40 there is a lot going on here that I am not completely familiar with. I imagine it is an even better experience for someone unfamiliar with the game

I played DS1, but never really took an interest in speedruns.
The explanation at key points of the speedrun massively aided understanding, enjoyment, and how insanely impressed I am right now.
Phenomenal speedrun video. Whatever about the run itself, it's easily the best presentation I've ever seen for any speedrun video.
This is exactly what I'm always looking for when I look for speedrun videos - I looove hearing the explanations, and really fun to watch a world record run too!

Sadly, that sums up my thoughts on Nioh exactly. Sure, you can level up your stats and get new gear, but when every new challenge is still balanced towards your new level and gear values, nothing really has any meaning anymore. Get 2 shot at the beginning of the game, get 2 shot at the end of the game. Gear is meaningless, stats are meaningless.
I agree, I found Nioh 2 even harder and the balance made me actually quit because it was just no longer fun
Sadly I agree. I only played Nioh 2, but I had to stop to preserve my sanity. Even Dark Souls SL1 runs are better than ordinary Nioh 2 playthrough
Facts. Enjoyed both Niohs to a degree (finished them both to the end) but can't stomach a replay, the progression is horrible and damage is insanely unfair. What's the point of even having a healthbar if you just get wiped out in a second by every single enemy, big and small? Meanwhile enemies take 800 slices to kill individually.

I'm not familiar to DS1 speedruns at all, but god damn that Bed of Chaos kill in merely a couple of seconds and 2 firebombs made me feel avenged for all the time I spent running back to that boss after some BS knocked me out of the map, or the floor colapsed exactly under where I was running in the arena. It was incredible to watch, almost surrealistic, as was the rest of the run. All the respect to you sir, a true master of your craft.
Even though I’m a big of humility, you should be proud of the world records you set. Like you said, “speed runners generally don’t have that.” Be humble, but also be proud of the effort and dedication you put into your record. 33:17

that door wall jump to get to lower undead berg and get the gate opened early is pretty sick, iv never seen that before. i think ill add it to my playthroughs.
i'm not good enough to try to get speedruns but i like to use the different movements.
like i use sens fortress skip and then get the hero soul level up my weapon get some levels, then go back and kill gargoyls
With most games speed runs I watch I feel I can emulate at least some of the skips but with this one I’d be proud if I could even do one skip never mind the insanity of chaining them all together like this.

Doesn't one shoting Priscilla gets you stuck in a softlocke so how come that didn't happen when he killed Priscilla in one dark bead.
It's random, I did not mention it in the video, but there is a chance of it happening. Not going for the oneshot, however, lose too much time.

I starded to play Dark Souls recently. At first I was very frustrated with the game, but now I'm hooked haha
47:00 On the subject of bad PC's affecting gamplay in DS1R I tried playing with a bad laptop and it led to a bunch of glitches. Doors that were supposed to be locked wouldnt load and I actually never was carried to lordran by the bird after activating the cutscene, I died to torch hollows with my asylum souls. I doubt it would be usable in a speedrun due to the lag but this reminded me of it.

I grinded the category across around 11 months if I recall correctly.

Oh yes!!! I'm so excited to watch this video; I love this guy, and I love his writing; he does a really great job narrating the details for those of us unfamiliar with the run.
**Edit:** eh... I kinda wish this was edited down to only the parts where you're narrating. Kinda jarring how you flip back and forth between stream audio and narration.
Feedback taken! This was mostly meant as a little extra addition to the actual run, providing further insight. Working on my proper newest piece as we speak.
I disagree, I prefer it like this as it bridges the gap between dialogue and makes it feel more like watching a stream.

Think that's because he equipped the dusk crown ring. Halves HP for 50% more spell casts iirc

It's LiveSplit. The same as pretty much every speedrunner uses these days.

For those who don’t know, you can actually do the prompt swap and consume up to 999. Just get 999 arrows

see with pyromancy its a little faster, because with the quantity usage, you can level up to 21 str to use the great club to kill quelaag, and speak to the egg to get a pyromancy flame. you can then level up your pyromancy flame to about level 15 with him and ascend it with quelana, as well as get great combustion and great fireball. the bellowing dragon crest ring and the dusk crown both work with pyromancies, then there's also power within, and with fire tempest from killing quealana, you can go hypermode with the rtsr, just make sure you have the sanctus shield from the leeroy invasion to be able to use rtsr as it slows the health loss. with hypermode, it is possible to one shot kalameet, use fire tempest as an opening to the artorias fight as 9/10 times he will do the uppercut slash, and many more. everything in the game is weak to fire and overall it makes the dlc run a lot faster. for other bosses that are strong to fire you have that great club. at least thats the way that i find a little faster. if you can explain why sorcery is faster i will give it a try. (quick note, not all bosses are suceptable to the fire tempest hypermode, such as manus. however, it makes bosses like artorias and kalameet, and notably priscilla since you have to attack her before the fight actually begins, signifficantly faster as A: you dont have to aim, and B: basically everything is weak to fire).
try it then and see if u get a better time

What program r u using for set the timer?
You may have addressed this in the video, I forget, but does the language the game is played in matter? I know in games like Pokemon, where the text types out letter by letter during dialogue boxes, the language matters because whichever language has the fewest number of characters in the game is going to be fastest. But unless I'm much mistaken, the text in Dark Souls always appears all at once, so it seems to me like the language played in wouldn't have much impact on the run.
It doesn't matter for the in game time so it doesn't save any time on the run itself, but it does make the game load faster which saves actual irl time
darksouls remastered on switch was my first time playing dardsouls and it was enjoyable I've now got the other 2, blood-born and now elden ring (ps4)

Gotta be one of the best speedrun videos.
Speaking of the steam deck, I own one, I've even been playing dark souls 1 and dark souls 3 on it, and it's awesome. It's great to run these pc games on the go in a handheld format.... the only trade off is the battery life, its not very good but that's to be expected, it runs Elden ring at 30fps for 2 hours. Although when I run dark souls 1 on deck, I get 1 to 2 hours at 60fps.....and capping to 30 cannot be done, because it slows down the game speed.
Can you use power banks to extend the battery life?
@@catalystz yup, works just like a phone on that regard, although it does consume alot of power depending on settings and stuff.
The battery life is not that bad considering the deck is as powerful as a ps4, if not a little more. It can run Elden ring for 2 hours max settings, 30fps.
Any USB-C charger can be used with the deck and works fine, unlike with the switch. So that includes power banks too.

Ah yes, breakable expensive hardware being carried, perfect for kids. And being able to game during short breaks between other things, definitely not something regular adults could use.
Seriously, the game selection tends to have lower content ratings, but I think that colours people's conception of what the actual thing is good for.

Why isnt poopwalk used in all bosses? Couldnt you „skip“ the rng-part by just poopwalking while entering the bossarea and therefore not initiate the bosses ai, making them standing still while you shoot sorcery at them?
Poopwalk was patched in DSR I believe.
Even if it isn't patch it is very hard to perform.
@@sunayanachahar4427 patched could be reason, but I don’t think „hard to perform“ is something that stops speedrunners haha
Very few bosses can actually be cheesed using the Poopwalk. It also requires a setup to obtain first by getting an invalid item. Poopwalk is possible in DSR, it's just more complicated to obtain the invalid item.
