@@jml8975 Aristo or USA trains? I thought the USA trains one I had looks identical to it but I haven't ran in in a a year so I may be misremembering it
@@Twisted_T_Racing I believe the USA trains I have are gp38-2s and an SD40-2. USA trains is still producing them. I have learned Bachmann has absorbed all of the aristocraft model tooling and patents.
The GP40 is the next step up from the GP38-2. It had the same 645emd but instead of being roots blown, the 40 has a turbo and makes much more horsepower. So up on the roof you'll see dual stacks on the 38, and a single large rectangular exhaust on the 40. Railroads today like the 38 for switching duties because of the roots blower, and they tend to use the 40 distance runs, often on branchlines. As for the models, the GP40 motor blocks are pretty smooth and have somewhat larger wheels than the gp38-2.
That’s awesome!! Thanks for the share 🤩
Another classic reborn.
First the 4-4-0 “American”, then the U.S.R.A. 0-6-0, and now, the E.M.D. G.P.40.
Well done, Bachman. Well done.
You realize that this is a G scale model, right?
@@jml8975 Yes, but still
The G.P.40 is a classic nevertheless
I do kinda feel a bit stupid tho
I'm definitely keeping my out for this one
Fantastic model.👍👍👍👍
Aristo design, I have them and love them.
Looks identical to the aristocraft gp40s I have? Same tooling??
That's correct!

@@Twisted_T_Racing Aristocraft.
So nice😊
Aristo molds at twice the price ($800+).
Agreed! Highway Robbery!
Nice. What sets this apart from a USA Trains locomotive?
Not much from what I can tell. Usa trains is technically a GP 38-2 and not a gp40, but the differences are cosmetically minimal
