This is my absolute favorite because it’s so true to the book. And there’s so much effort that has gone into the CGI, it’s so impressive. And I don’t ever find people that actually enjoy this movie, but I personally love it.
I love it, too. Among Disney “Carol “ movies, it’s great as an animated full length straightforward adaptation to complement something like Mickey’s Christmas Carol. I also love Mickey’s Christmas Carol.
I was really surprised how close this remains to the book but I have to say the Muppets have somehow changed my perspective on this! Surely it's Fozziewigg!😂
I liked all the things from the book that I either don't see anywhere or in very few other versions, like Bob Cratchit sliding down the hill in honor of Christmas Eve, the fiddler at Fezziwig's dunking his head in the punchbowl at the end of the song, or the exchange between Scrooge and Christmas Present about closing the baker's shop on Sundays.
The coins that Scrooge had taken off the eyes of Jacob Marley was a practice going to the Ancient Romans. Those coins were to pay the "toll for the "Ferryman" who takes your Soul across the river into the next life. Without the toll your Soul lingers unable to cross. So it was especially egregious for Scrooge to take the coins because that meant Marley's soul was to wonder for all eternity. Which is why the Undertaker looked at him the way he did. The Celtics practiced this too.✌️
Funny that BJ mentioned Grinch because Jim Carrey played both The Grinch and in this movie playing Ebeneezer Scrooge. Asia, you would not like living like that back in Victorian times. Times were VERY HARD and POVERTY was extremely common.
Omg!!!!! What a surprise!!! I didn't expect a post from you guys today but this one IS a gift all in itself!!! This is one of my all time FAVORITE Christmas stories ever told and this specific one in particular is my favorite. Charles Dickens wrote an absolute masterpiece, it's been remade by all kinds of people but Jim Carrey is absolute perfection for these roles. I'm so happy you guys watched it!!! Merry Christmas to the two of you and to your kiddos, I hope the joy and love was with you in abundance today and everyday. Love you guys and a Very Merry Christmas🎄❤️💚🤍🎀🎁🕊️ "God Bless us, everyone!!!!" 😭😭

10:06 Reason why Scrooge's (and the first two Ghosts) models resemble Jim Carrey is because this movie used the same motion-capture type of CG character modeling that The Polar Express used (like rotoscoping over the real actor). You might recognize Gary Oldman as Bob Crachett thanks to it too. Too bad it was experimental technology that didn't last long, and some people don't like the style for the uncanny factor.
I grew up watching A muppet Christmas Carol. It will always be my favourite version. But I also enjoyed Scrooged with Bill Murray. I think every version done has its own special appeal. Merry Christmas!
Albert, particularly, is amazing in that version. He was about in his mid thirties in 1970. He melts into the role as an older Scrooge and is the only actor I can think of who plays the character as an older and a younger man.
It's so funny. I was literally in the middle of watching this adaptation for the 1st time too when I got the notification for your reaction! What a nice Christmas surprise. 😊
Such an underrated adaptation, its the only one Ive seen to go so far into the horror side of the literal ghost story Charles Dickens wrote it as and I love it for that. You really feel how someone so stingy could be scared straight in (technically) one night by all of that
This is my all-time favorite version of this classic story. It's just so good, I watch it every December! Not only does it stick to the original story but it doesn't shy away from being scary, as well as heartwarming and the animation is great!
So now I've seen the 37 minute version of A Christmas Carol thanks guys it was timed just right to take the dinner rolls. Merry Christmas Asia BJ & all the Family 🎄🎄
I was lucky to see this in the 3D version at theater, and I must say it was an amazing experience. I vividly remember the snowflakes falling all around me, and the flying scenes carried me along. I would love to see this again in the theater in 3D because it was truly magical. And as always I love your reviews!
disney's too pitiful these days to let dark things be dark. The book was pretty gruesome itself, and ain't gonna lie, Marley was creepy af! Very well done.
You guys have not only the funniest & most interesting reactions, but Asia is a perfect 10 attraction! Not just gorgeous stunning looks & more cakes than a Christmas Bakery, but an engaging personality, tons of artistic talent and a warm welcoming smile. BJ you just didn't win the lottery, you hit the Mega Powerball, King! 💯😂🙇🏻♂🙏🏻🔥#BlessedAndHappyNewYear
You guys should know that there are WAY more than four versions of this story. It has been a stage play since the book was published in 1847, and there are DOZENS of movie versions.
I still consider the 1951 film Scrooge with Alistair Sim as being the best one made to date - but hey, that's just my preference/opinion as an oldie now and having seen so many of them . . . 2nd one was even older version as an 1938 film of it with Reginald Owen . . .
Merry Christmas ❤ Thank y'all for another year of great reactions ❤ and if y'all ever get the chance I highly recommend you do the Muppet version of this a Muppets Christmas Carol❤
Hey guys, hope you both had a great Christmas, I've never seen this one, but hey Jim delivered. This was good, haven't read the book in years. Ten years earlier, Patrick Stewart aka Captain Jean Luc Picard from Star Trek: The Next Generation series and Professor X played Ebenezer as well in A Christmas Carol. I suggest that one for next Christmas. Have a Happy New Year!
A Christmas Carol… Charles Dickens one of the greats of all time I remember reading the book as a kid and then watching the movies and yes they started in the 30s. This movie was remade and made and never a bad version. I’m an older person so I kinda like the older ones but I like the new ones as well! Merry Christmas to all, these reaction channels are just so good for the soul 🙏🙏🙏🙏
I read A Christmas Carol every year, it's so short but packs so much of an emotional punch! I have a theory that if everyone on earth read A Christmas Carol every year, we would solve World Peace hahaha. I added 4 more people to my re-read this year, so I'm slowly making a dent! 🤣 I think some people don't like the animation style on this one, but I have to say, as an adaptation, this is one of the closest to the book that I've seen! I really love it!
They don't right stories like this anymore. Dickenson was great. I definitely recommend another of his stories in the 60s film "Oliver" with Mark Lester.
Yes Asia he does look like Jim Carrey, i find him to look a lot like the character Jim plays in Lemony Snicket's a series of unfortunate events Count Olaf! They have some similarities lol.🎄🔥🇳🇱🥰
Jim Carrey bases his Scrooge on Alistair Sim’s version of Scrooge. It’s an older version, but if you want to go down a “Christmas Carol” rabbit hole, that’s a good one to check out.
