This is my absolute favorite because it’s so true to the book. And there’s so much effort that has gone into the CGI, it’s so impressive. And I don’t ever find people that actually enjoy this movie, but I personally love it.

I love it, too. Among Disney “Carol “ movies, it’s great as an animated full length straightforward adaptation to complement something like Mickey’s Christmas Carol. I also love Mickey’s Christmas Carol.

I liked all the things from the book that I either don't see anywhere or in very few other versions, like Bob Cratchit sliding down the hill in honor of Christmas Eve, the fiddler at Fezziwig's dunking his head in the punchbowl at the end of the song, or the exchange between Scrooge and Christmas Present about closing the baker's shop on Sundays.

The coins that Scrooge had taken off the eyes of Jacob Marley was a practice going to the Ancient Romans. Those coins were to pay the "toll for the "Ferryman" who takes your Soul across the river into the next life. Without the toll your Soul lingers unable to cross. So it was especially egregious for Scrooge to take the coins because that meant Marley's soul was to wonder for all eternity. Which is why the Undertaker looked at him the way he did. The Celtics practiced this too.✌️

Funny that BJ mentioned Grinch because Jim Carrey played both The Grinch and in this movie playing Ebeneezer Scrooge. Asia, you would not like living like that back in Victorian times. Times were VERY HARD and POVERTY was extremely common.

Omg!!!!! What a surprise!!! I didn't expect a post from you guys today but this one IS a gift all in itself!!! This is one of my all time FAVORITE Christmas stories ever told and this specific one in particular is my favorite. Charles Dickens wrote an absolute masterpiece, it's been remade by all kinds of people but Jim Carrey is absolute perfection for these roles. I'm so happy you guys watched it!!! Merry Christmas to the two of you and to your kiddos, I hope the joy and love was with you in abundance today and everyday. Love you guys and a Very Merry Christmas🎄❤️💚🤍🎀🎁🕊️ "God Bless us, everyone!!!!" 😭😭

17:39 1842, because that’s how many years it is and it’s referring to the first Christmas. He is one Christmas and his brothers are all of the other Christmases. That’s why he also mentions that he only has a short time. He only lives for 24 hours. Because he himself is Christmas. That’s why he starts getting older as the day progresses and then dies at the end of the day.

      The inspiration
Dickens was inspired to write Scrooge after seeing the gravestone while walking around the graveyard before giving a lecture in Edinburgh in 1841. He wrote in his notebook, "To be remembered through eternity only for being mean seemed the greatest testament to a life wasted".
      The real Ebenezer Scroggie
The real Ebenezer Scroggie was a corn merchant, vintner, and relative of Adam Smith. He was a jovial man who was also known for being generous. He was not the mean-spirited character Dickens created.
      The gravestone's fate
The gravestone was lost during the restoration of the Kirk in 1932. There are plans to erect a memorial to Scroggie an

10:06 Reason why Scrooge's (and the first two Ghosts) models resemble Jim Carrey is because this movie used the same motion-capture type of CG character modeling that The Polar Express used (like rotoscoping over the real actor). You might recognize Gary Oldman as Bob Crachett thanks to it too. Too bad it was experimental technology that didn't last long, and some people don't like the style for the uncanny factor.

I liked this one. I liked that the digital was able to be used to convey some things from the novel, especially the spiritual aspects and resonance, that could not really be done on stage are in live action before. I know the theater snubbed this but also they more do not like things that appear to infringe on the theater. That's not important to most movie goers though I think. But I just think what that did is give it some uniqueness among the Christmas Carol adaptations. Also that they could do something now that is a combination of live action and CGI to the a nice effect if they wanted. This shows they can at least. But it was things I remembered from that book and seeing them here.
On a side note I hated being in that play as a kid. I was one the random Cratchit kids. Everyone was grumpy which sort of contradicts the whole thing. It's a real stuffy story to squeeze into to put it in a way. Not much room to flex.

Wishing you and your families both a very Merry Christmas guys.
I hope you all have a wonderful day.
Personally, I think Scrooge is misunderstood, lol! 😂
It's really a story of an old guy who has made a bit of money by working hard and not wasting it on foolish things.
Sadly, though, others keep trying to get his money and will try anything to get their hands on it.
However, as they seem unable to get at his money, they call him nasty names and are cruel with the things they say behind his back.
Later, scrooge learns what people will think when he dies and sees that now he's gone, people feel they can now get their hands on perhaps some of the money by harassing whoever it is left to.
In the end, because of the pressure from everyone, which becomes too much for anyone to handle, scrooge is forced to give his hard earned money away.
Also, of course, due to the threats made by the ghosts!, lol! 😂
I feel so sorry for scrooge, especially when he's so hard working and yet that's how people treat him, lol! 😂
    Bah Humbug to Christmas! 😂
This is a wonderful version of such a great tale.
The animation is very well done and a great cast for the voices.
There are only a very small percentage of scrooge movies that I like and this is one of them.
A great video as always guys.
Have a fantastic day, take care!

The irony of the voice casting for this movie is that Jim Carrey is more known for his good guy roles and Garry Oldman for his bad guy roles. This movie does follow the written story closer than most other movies about it. Maybe next year you can react to Ghosts of Girlfriends Past (2009) starring Mathew McConaughey, Michael Douglas and Jennifer Garner. It loosely follows this storyline, in a romantic comedy kind of way.

I never did understand why they would stop at Scrooges place to ask for a donation. I mean are they new to the job? You can't possibly convince me Scrooge gave anything in any previous year. So why would they think this year was any different?
