While medieval dies are represented in the collection, it was not until the reign of Charles II that tools were systematically set aside for retention. This hand-cut portrait punch, for half-crowns of Charles II demonstrates the skill of mint engravers of the past, and is currently on display in the Royal Mint Experience.
