It’s magazine subs so it would be like taking 150 dollars a week and they’d take the cash in hand to their bosses and get a pay cheque and then get extra depending how many they hit etc

Listening to you talk was such a trip. It's like my story almost word for word. I worked for Jon riener 013 elite sales inc. I sold mags for such a long ass time. I ended up quiting crew in October, 2005 cuz I met a girl in New Mexico (oh yeah I'm from Elgin IL btw lol) ND I've been here ever since. Def not with the same girl anymore but that's besides the point. Around 2012 a manager that I knew from working in the same hotel as his crew was in santa Fe and hit me up to see if I wanted to make some extra cash and of course I was all about it. I ended up working with him for a few weeks and jumping to Colorado springs. From there we were gonna go to Dallas but we were gonna stop in Santa Fe to pick up the girl I was dating. A freak accident happened and I rolled the van we were in and one of my home girls that I've known since about 2004 died in the accident. This happened around last Vegas NM. Needless to I was super freaked out. I couldn't even look at the other people that I was with. I felt so awful like it was my fault and I blamed myself for wrecking the van and and of course there is a certain amount of responsibility on my shoulders being as I was the one driving. But there were so many fucked things that led to the accident. But I'm not trying to defend myself or anything like that right now. It was a accident a freak accident and I still feel horrible about it. Anyways like I said I couldn't bare to look at the other people that I was with and I was lucky that the girl I was dating only lived a couple hours well about an hour from where this happened so her and her mom came and got me. Needless to say I never wanted to see a pad case or hear "get a bunch" ever again. I ended up manning up and went to her memorial with the owner of the company. During these few days in Colorado (which is where she was from) the boss was trying to get me to come back but there was no way. My high day on doors was 42 I did that for a few years before I ever even heard of steming. But my high day steming was at a ghetto ass mall in Cleveland and I slapped a guppy for five g's cash with no receipt.. I wasn't the most honest agent lol ;) so he wanted me there. I refused until he offered me 150% and 7 off the p and h. And my own number. I couldn't believe it. The owner of the company himself was promoting me to a manager! After all the years of selling mags and all the crazy shit it took me wrecking a van and killing someone to get my number.. sorry this was such a long story but hearing you talk brought a huge rush of memories and emotions back that I was not expecting. My gf is a huge fan of yours and the girl with the dreds and she told me to watch your video that it was like a girl version of me lol.. crazy.. well anyways thanks for whoever actually took the hour to read this. And what else is wild is we have alot more than just the crew in common but now isn't the time.. laterz thanks 013! 013! 013!

I love your videos, I’ve been binging on them! But I just had the thought- you’d be amazing if you had a podcast! I love listening to all your vids before bed, just something to consider! HUGE FAN ❤️
The crew salesman job is the new pimp and 304 game, The game is supposed to be sold and not told, however just like a pimp breaks a 304 a crew manager breaks their agent and makes them walk the blade (T) in rain, sleet, and snow. Just like in a whore house the weak 304 is usually mistreated until she make big traps, some agents sleep with the manager like a bottom 304 sleeps with her pimp
When I first started watching her videos I was like idn if shes authentic like really about what she's saying but once I got her full story the similarities and parallels of some of my own experiences and hers was just so tragically similar... I'm from Canada eh! And while I was not on a magazine crew what we had was the oil fields, and basically you would be sent on a 10 hour bus ride for 3 weeks at a time working everyday consecutively in what you would call a "dry camp" which means there were no drugs or alcohol allowed and smoking was designated to specific "wings" of the camp, and you would be working with people from all over the country and there was about 900 people per camp. It was an ABSOLUTE circus, I was 18 when I did my first rotation, and I will never ever forget it there are so many stories that I forgot of or would remember in the moment when I hear Jess talk and I would just bust out laughing and it would take me back to that time, needless to say the camp was anything but "dry" they would have trucks loaded with flats of beer and liquor that would come at night and have be unloaded by a certain "wing" on whichever day of the week it was assigned to your wing and you all were expected to go and unload it into certain rooms and then it would be divided and sold, and the drugs! Hahahaha oh boy! I never seen more drugs in my life then I did in camp! And again what's very similar and hits home for me is about after 3 years of working in camp, I developed an oxycontin habit... And from there it escalated and by year 5 I was pretty much flying by the seat of my pants just to have my job straight up making it by the skin of my ass.. And unfortunately but dually deserved I was shit canned, sent back down to Edmonton from fort Mac on a bus and I can still remember that ride home to this day because of how much I LOST after that, so this is super long and drawn out but I just want to say Jess is 100% legitimate she's real, gritty in your face and you can feel it and I'm personally super stoked to have found her channel because for myself just listening to her stories takes me back to some of mine that I've stored away and forgotten and tidbits and crumbs come back and man do i fucking howwwllll! So I just want to say thank you and keep doing what your doing!
My husband and I are watching all these magazine videos omg talk about memories lol when it was good it was awesome so much fun and unreal life for 18year olds but when it was bad it was hell, our boss was Randall and we knew mike, fisher, country,Bob, it was 15 years ago youI might not know them. My husband was selling magazines too when we met, when we went to leave the crew it was sooooooo sketchy they took us into seperaterooms like uh are we about to die?! Lol they were pissed but finally gave us our tickets home
holy shit jessica. I was just talking about mag crew and was having a hard time trying to remember your last name. Looked up mag crew to show someone something and walked away from it. After I remembered your name I walked by the TV (my PC) and was like what the fuck. Shes right there on google. Way to go. Didn't think you were still at it 11 years later, congrats on almost 1m subs. Used to come over and chill when you lived over by main ST. You got my sub for old times sake. (still live around here?) - Craig Peletz BTW. Congrats on making it out the other side. Glad to see it. Not many of us still upright.
Did you ever meet anyone from all star promotions? I used to and they never paid that good but we had sooo much fun. However i was in batavia ny and 2 of my co-workers murdered 2 of my other co-workers. Something i never thought would happen in a million years.
I met a guy selling magazines in the town in Massachusetts where I live. This was at the height of my addiction BTW. My gf and I ended up using with him in his hotel room for 3 days, then he was back on the road. He tried to recruit us but we made enough cash other ways.
My sister was BIG in magazine selling. I wonder if you recognize her name and also her Bfs name. He ran his own crew a few years into them starting. Sarah Nelson And Bryon Pryor What you are talking about sounds exactly like things my sister would tell me about.
Ugh...another really good video! I'm just seeing this now. Something is going on w/ my notifications.Idk. Can't wait to hear more about this. 👍 And that pump gas thing must be an Upstate NY thing 🤣😂
I remember you. you were good. I worked for the woman, her first ex husband, her second x husband, and with the son of her third ex husband in the early 2000’s. I won’t mention names but you know who I’m talking about. Would like to touch base with some of those folks again. At least the ones still living. If you’re still seeing these comments, let me know.
By chance did your crew happen to go through southern Utah in 2012/2013ish? I almost joined a crew back then while trying to recover from a heroine addiction and one of the girls (who probably saved my life) at the last minute pulled me aside after hanging out with them for a couple days and told me to run and never look back. I’m super great full to her.
I actually rented it a few years ago. Apparently a lot of the scenes were shot near Kansas City and I live about 90 miles south of there. The movie seems to be very similar to what she describes as far as magazine crews go.
Yeah, I'd have been unsure about it, too. Only selling drugs & other things that sell themselves, basically. Not my strong suit - I've had some telemarketing jobs and didn't do well. "Too nice," whatever that means. I did really like political canvassing, though! Active job, can smoke cigarettes, and won't nod out at your desk because you're moving around! The interactions I had tended to be quick & easy and I walk fast, so I'd finish early. I was pretty good at asking for donations at one of them, for the duration that it benefitted me, since I needed it!
The only, only thing I can relate to in this whole story is - girl, I don’t pump gas either. I’ve actually had a driver’s license for almost 5 years and I don’t think I’ve ever pumped gas even for my own car ever. 😂 I’ve been dating my husband since before I was 18 and got my license so I’ve always had him do it for me 🤷🏻♀️
Absolutely got me a homemade tattoo gun tattoo on my leg in the comfort of my own living room. At age 19, never thinking someday I might want to wear a dress and not look like such a diehard. Oh well, I'd never cover it up now, it's too much a part of history.
Lol dude, respectfully, I hate those crews that roll up to your apartment complex even though it’s no soliciting. And if you don’t want any magazine subscriptions then they definitely will accept any cash to help out! Oh good times either way though.

girl it's been 5 months, wheres part 2 😂😂
I remember my first day of mag crew! Lol I thought they were all crazy when we did the round robins. JOUSE! I can relate to everything on your channel.. 💯💯
I used to travel with a mag crew as well for a while, big cultural shock/eye opener
My ex husband did these magazine jobs too it was always really dumb
Sounds like a MLM company I worked at very briefly 😂
I have been like that with never wanting to put petrol in the car I am still the same
Xxxxxx

"Success is the best revenge" love it.
Ask josh on 23&1 if u can get on his channel he lets ppl tell there stories
Josh has a tendency to think that people want to 'ride his coat tails' to gain attention to their channel. He needs to chill the fuck out sometimes.
Jess doesn't need to.
She'll soon be just as big as Death.
or Josh could even ask Jessica if he could feature on HER channel here, if he asks politely? lol

My first tattoo was not a kitchen one. It was done in a living room when I was seventeen. #highclass 😜
OMG!!! I’ve had a couple of guys come to my door and try and sell magazines!!! NOOOO idea!!! Mind blown!! 🤯🤪
That film American Honey was the first time I heard about traveling magazine crews, very interesting.
I always assumed you meant you were selling gun magazines not reading ones lol soo random!?
(still live around here?) - Craig Peletz
BTW. Congrats on making it out the other side. Glad to see it. Not many of us still upright.
Is your old magazine crew hiring? JK your stories are so fascinating Jessica, thank you for always sharing them
Did you ever meet anyone from all star promotions? I used to and they never paid that good but we had sooo much fun. However i was in batavia ny and 2 of my co-workers murdered 2 of my other co-workers. Something i never thought would happen in a million years.
Hey girl my friend Jason Sweet was on a magazine crew same time you was down south !!
I met a guy selling magazines in the town in Massachusetts where I live. This was at the height of my addiction BTW. My gf and I ended up using with him in his hotel room for 3 days, then he was back on the road. He tried to recruit us but we made enough cash other ways.
Omg where I'm from mass too!! I've never seen then anywhere but I think itd be cool to do it
Was it in Springfield Massachusetts?
You’re the most inspiring person, thank you for filling me with hope with every video ❤️
My sister was BIG in magazine selling. I wonder if you recognize her name and also her Bfs name. He ran his own crew a few years into them starting.
Sarah Nelson
And Bryon Pryor
What you are talking about sounds exactly like things my sister would tell me about.
I hope one day you able to write a book and/or make a movie regarding your story. It is riveting!
Purple looks great on you! ♥️
Ugh...another really good video!
I'm just seeing this now. Something is going on w/ my notifications.Idk. Can't wait to hear more about this. 👍
And that pump gas thing must be an Upstate NY thing 🤣😂
I remember you. you were good. I worked for the woman, her first ex husband, her second x husband, and with the son of her third ex husband in the early 2000’s. I won’t mention names but you know who I’m talking about. Would like to touch base with some of those folks again. At least the ones still living. If you’re still seeing these comments, let me know.
this sounds like “American Honey” movie with Shia LaBeouf
By chance did your crew happen to go through southern Utah in 2012/2013ish? I almost joined a crew back then while trying to recover from a heroine addiction and one of the girls (who probably saved my life) at the last minute pulled me aside after hanging out with them for a couple days and told me to run and never look back. I’m super great full to her.
round robins is theater on steroids 🤣
So strange this popped up. I did the magazine crew thing back in the day. One of the most fun but most horrible times of my life
Has anyone seen honey on Netflix with Shia labuff. So good
I actually rented it a few years ago.
I was pretty good at asking for donations at one of them, for the duration that it benefitted me, since I needed it!
love you girly !!! I had that job in Cali but with newspaper we hustled like crazy
The only, only thing I can relate to in this whole story is - girl, I don’t pump gas either. I’ve actually had a driver’s license for almost 5 years and I don’t think I’ve ever pumped gas even for my own car ever. 😂 I’ve been dating my husband since before I was 18 and got my license so I’ve always had him do it for me 🤷🏻♀️
Reminds me of the movie American Honey 💕
Just had a magazine crew come to my front door!!
Loved this video! I seriously can’t get enough of your content!! 💕
You was 022?
Girrrrrl, I run out of petrol (gas) on a fortnightly basis!!! I HATE putting it in my car! 😂😂
Absolutely got me a homemade tattoo gun tattoo on my leg in the comfort of my own living room. At age 19, never thinking someday I might want to wear a dress and not look like such a diehard. Oh well, I'd never cover it up now, it's too much a part of history.
Love hearing about your life. Thank you x
Lol dude, respectfully, I hate those crews that roll up to your apartment complex even though it’s no soliciting. And if you don’t want any magazine subscriptions then they definitely will accept any cash to help out! Oh good times either way though.
I still don't really understand.
Were you selling sunscriptions for magazines?
Yes
@@JessicaKent how much did 1 subscription cost the customer? What I mean is u say you were making $1000's a week so how much did 1 sub sell for&how much of that did u get to keep? Also what kinda content did these mags hv?
I used to sell mags for Dennis street, and miss B!
I remember mag crews trying to recruit me everytime I was on The Drag in Austin Austin Texas in the 90s! There were so many mag kids!!!! They'd hang out at the coffee shops and arcades lookin for us homeless looking punks. Haha. I made out with a hottie named Macaiah with blonde dreads...I was 15 and he definitely was 10 years older...lol...he almost made me join. My poor mom.
