Actually, good players will think the opposite. They want their opponent to be able to easily count out the chips for a call, and usually bet with good hands for 1/2 pot to not get too greedy on the river. This guy seems like he has an overpair (or Ace x of hearts) and got there on the river. This smells of value to me. (I'm writing this at the @4:00 minute mark while it's paused, so I'll see if I'm a total donk or not lol. EDIT: Well, I was wrong lol. Brad had a read against this specific opponent, but me basing my information off of somebody I've never played with (nor did I get to watch this hand live) I stand by my decision. You come across these scenarios a lot especially when playing online, and most of the time 3 streets of betting USUALLY means they either got there on their draw.
I don't know about rounded bets for the bluff, but I do suspect the speed at which the bet comes. It's as if the villain is thinking, "No matter what he does, I'm going to do this," and there is no delay in his response. That's a tell I respond to most often. However, this fails spectacularly when they have the cards you most dread and they also have a good read on you.
When I saw the thumbnail, I actually said out loud, “Brad, no!!” Brad and John’s channels are really good compliments to each other. Love when he review’s Brad’s stuff too.
I think the bigger and common tell is the quick river bet. He didn’t have to think because he knew he was bluffing. If he hits the flush he probably thinks about sizing.
His thinking was the same as Brad's on the turn, he holds the Ace to represent the Ace high bluff... but with hearts instead of diamonds. I bluff maybe once or twice a night at the poker table, not very often, but typically after I show the winner from 2 of the last 5 hands.
I think a 5 bet jam is the play pre. W AK you dont have a pair and making a pair is hard. I dont love bluff catching/trapping w a non made hand. If there is a a good chance the loose player will fold to a 5 bet than thats what you want to do, take down the money wo seeing a flop. And AK is the perfect hand to bet bluff into a loose player. AA KK QQ even JJ are a better trap here than AK.
One thing to remember here, is that the Villain holds the Ah, so just ask Brad was saying he might bluff al in if a diamond hits the river since he has the Ace of diamonds, the same applies to his opponent for the heart on the river. I think both played this hand OK. It's just a bad spot for Brad here, so his fold is reasonable.
I often realized when people bluff they tend to use 1200 , or 2200 , very rarely an even sum , just a little over the even sum so they think it looks like nothing bothers them and they for sure have it.
Hear this a lot, like we can't lose against hands we dominate we want to keep in so AK against AQ, if no pair comes it's very easy for the 4 better to push you off AK and barely a chip goes in if they have JJ/QQ
Against these kinds of guys I just put in the extra bet. If you're gonna fold AK on the river when you don't hit then I don't see how that's a good plan.
Seemed like that's the case often enough for all sorts of gamblers ! You ahoud do a show on small pairs and how to play them as going all in pre flop doesn't seem good particularly in tournaments
IMO (and under the right conditions), "x-betting" preflop and then barreling away can win a lot of pots. I've seen countless "mega pros" on youtube losing multiple fair-sized pots as victims of this strategy.
I had the jammiest hand other day in poker, I go all in with pocket 3s I'd had no good hands got impatient, so I thought , damn , why not , so I go all in, I have 3 callers , and first turns , pocket aces, oh I messed up, the other two turn their cards, they have king ace, , now pocket aces is ina horrible position, all I got to worry about it's kings and straights coming onto the board, and luckily , what comes in , another 3, not often you see pocket 3's take down the two strongest hands in poker, but it really is just down to the odds, I was ready to leave . Haha😅
Ive been playing AK a lot tighter lately, I think its totally overrated against bad players and has cost me more than I ever made with it. i maybe even fold it pre
agree with you; with bad players, you loose with AK more than you win because they will call you with their shitty hand and make a small pair taking you down if you don't catch an A or K.
Sorry... I fold the turn and wait for a better spot... 95% likelihood my opponent has pocket pair or ❤ draw. Back in the we called this "chasing" which is something only the donks would do? Has the math changed?
Do YOU think when people bluff that they will often use rounded numbers when deciding to bet? 🤔
Genuinely idk if I'd read much into that! 😂
In other words.. I wouldn't give my opponent a bluff based on a rounded number bet.
Don't know

one of the dumbest things I have ever heard lol
The title should be " Did brad owen just get owened?"
Definitely missed a trick there. Wp 😅

If he hits the flush he probably thinks about sizing.
Or he made his straight on the flop and knew exactly what he wanted to bet on the river at that moment

I think at low level stakes and play especially, ignore the whole “bluffs are round numbers” bit. It just isnt true for amateur level players.

Love this review of Brad’s content, please do more
Thinking you know how a player plays based off one hand is not the way to go.
I 5 bet pre there but, I do not play post flop as well as Brad.
Brad saw this coming from a mile away...he should had called. If it was Rampage, he would had Shoved, and WON.

Actually both played similar. The villain played with fake hearts flush. Nice bluff by the villain.
It is easier to smell a bluff at a 1/2 level with people who do not have a good bankroll.
The opponent did exactly what Brad wanted when he chose not to 5 bet and yet he folds on the river

That’s why I hate AK. You are playing for stacks, and 2/3 times it’s a bluff
When I bluff, I use odd bets and numbers to throw the opponents' math off.
The tell is how fast they bet...
I like round numbers
That was a horrible flop and turn good fold even if he was being bluffed
brad is a fish, dont listen to him.
told us to just fold it in one of your last vids
Ive been playing AK a lot tighter lately, I think its totally overrated against bad players and has cost me more than I ever made with it. i maybe even fold it pre
Lol folding pre
I became a winning player after Iearned to treat AK as a strong drawing hand instead of a major nut hand.
@@butcho7492 it’s a top 5 hand. Period.

AK should be folded around 15 percent pre flop...

He dident have hearth. 🤣 trust your gut
Beta Brad
No. they bet what they can grab.
More garbage advice for a game that has become unbeatable and no fun to play....thanks.
He cud just fold & little knows little
