What is more reliable than a 2002 toyota corolla?

  • The toyota corolla is one of those cars you can pick and it will be reliable and last you as long as you can be bored for it. It's not exciting to drive, it's not fast, it doesnt have any tech. But it gets you where you need to be all the time without any issues.

I love how people call these 'boring', yet I still see these diving around all the time unlike many other 90's and early 2000's cars. That, and nowadays every single car manufacturer is trying sooo hard to make their car look aggressive and sporty, that a simple straight design like this actually stands out again. It's nothing really special in terms of performance or anything, but I really don't care about performance during my work commute in bumper to bumper traffic on a monday morning when I'm still trying to wake up.

I have 2001 corolla. I bought it 8 years ago. man.....I cannot really sell this car.....never break down. It will age with you. it will die with you. it will be always with you.....I cannot believe how Toyota made this kind of car. I really wanna buy new car, but this car never gives me any problem, even single one such as no single drop of leaks and no mechanical problem at all....of course, there are lots of scratch that when people see this old car out there, they just scratch it.... but that is just exterior. this is GOD of any car. once you buy it, you cannot sell it.....it actually saves lots of money. my mechanic always tell me 'don't sell this car, he has one customer who has 500k mileage for this car. now mine is 156k mileage. I think I will really die with him.

What i don't understand is the same models which were being sold in America has a 1.8 engine and a little larger rotors when America hardly have steep hills, as opposed to where m from has very steep hills, why didn't they make the American models for countries where its actually needed like the 1.8 engine compared to the 1.5 and 1.6 engines we have, these seems strange to me..we would definitely benefit from having the extra power from the 1.8.

Yes, cut the bracket on old strut instead of opening the line. 98-02 have piston and oil return hole issues that causes MUCH more oiling burning than the seals. 1 quart per 1000 miles or more. It's also likely for the timing chain tensioner and valve cover gaskets to leak.

These are not maintenance free at all. I mean, no car is but these cars have a very flawed engine. The 1ZZFE 1.8 first used in this car is a notorious oil burner. It was designed to operate at internal temps of 120C but in reality, it operates at 160C. After around 120-150 k miles, it starts to burn oil badly. Even if the owner tops off the oil, you'll eventually wear out the first of the two catalytic converters which essentially totals the car.
So to answer the title of this video: a lot of cars are more reliable. 130k ish miles isn't so bad for an estimated engine life but it doesn't meet expectations and that's why it had to be redesigned for the new gen in '03.
