- Hey everyone! Here, I give you a full run-down of the new TRWP app. This app allows you to view detailed information about wireless networks. On top of this, it provides a painless way to flash the newest version of TRWP.
**I am not responsible for bootloops, bricked devices, etc.

OK. Been trying to find an answer for hours. I go to "find a file to download" . Download one. Go to flash it. It won't open the folder. I've tried several files. Several folders, both on the card and on the phone.
It will only open a few folders that have photos. I guess IMG files. I've downloaded every suffix, though.
I did a reinstall
Any ideas????
I did everything in the video but when I click select file it not showing up? it 100% downloaded I moved It to my sd card from download folder would you or anyone else possibly know why it maybe doing this I have a galaxy s4

This is not how you flash a rom, it's more complicated than that.

I'm rooted with superuser permissions granted to TWRP and still can't see the select file button. Is this broken on Android 9?

USe your computer to manually put that file from the internal memory of your phone to download sd card's memory, should pop up soon.

I had an issue after testing the factory boot image , and i had to reinstall the phone to factory.
Next step : install the note 8 rom :):)

The phone isnt supported officially but on xda u can find many custom roms and recoveries

Hi, Let me start with great guide; I have a Transformer TF101 on Android 4.0.3 build ww_epad-9.2.1.27, the device is rooted and bootloader is unlocked, also to mention that I have done this directly on my device without connecting to the PC, having said this I Download img but "Select file to Flash" box do not show !?..... I have also moved the file to the download folder under internal memory sdcard but no luck still can not see "Select file to Flush" other problem I have is also that it can not find the recovery.img any ideas please need help.

So it says it will flash to SD card recovery partition. When I reboot, it doesn't bring up TWRP. Tried holding vol up, home and power key (for Samsung J7) but I don't get TWRP screen. When I look at the SD card with file explorer, I don't even see a recovery partition. This is a rooted phone. Any idea what may be wrong? Looks like everything is setup, but phone refuses to boot into TWRP. Any suggestions?
Is ur bootloader unlocked?
If it is the try doing it to the phone itself not the SD
Thanks, nice vid. Followed the instructions on my Note 4. After that am I supposed to be able to boot into TWRP recovery? I held the vol UP, home, and PWR button but it says "Set Warranty Bit : kernel" in yellow, up the top right of the Samsung boot screen, and then boots normally. Do I have to install TWRP with Odin for it to work? I am rooted BTW. Thanks.
+kingcrumpet Since your rooted, try going to the Play store and downloading an app called "Quick Reboot". This app will allow you to boot into recovery without doing it manually.
If you still get the same message, I would like to ask if you are running a custom ROM/kernel or if you have installed any system updates recently?
This issue has been known to occur randomly after flashing ROMs/kernels/TWRP and even normal system updates. It's a sign that something has been corrupted.
Try wiping your system cache. If that doesn't help, your only way out may be a factory reset.
Thanks for the reply. I downloaded the app and yes, I can boot into recovery with it. Hmm. The message in the top left (not right as I said before) persists though. This time it says "Set Warranty Bit : Recovery". When I boot normally it still says "Set Warranty Bit : kernel".
I am a noob at this so all I did was root the phone with CF auto root (went smoothly). No custom ROMs/kernels. Since I did that I installed the official TWRP app, Root Check app, Titanium Backup app, and BusyBox for android. A few apps have updated since rooting but no system updates.
Sorry for the noob questions but will wiping the system cache erase my data? And if I do a factory reset I presume my phone will be reset to factory, yet still rooted?

Wiping system cache will not erase your data.
Side note: If your not aware of this, you can wipe cache in TWRP under Wipe

Ok so I need TWRP to root my device, but I can't use TWRP if my device isn't rooted? I don't see a 'select file to flash' and apparently your device needs rooted for that to show up. Help would be much appreciated.
Yes, this application's primarily function is to keep TWRP updated on a device that already has it and is rooted
Although, you can flash TWRP with this app for the first time, provided that your bootloader is unlocked and you have given the TWRP app root permission through some other method such as ADB/Fastboot commands.

This does not work if you're not rooted already as it will not give you the flash to recovery option ( at least on my Galaxy J2 J320FN)

That means your device is not officially supported by TWRP. There may be a 3rd party version of TWRP that will work but you'll need to do some research on the forum for your device on XDA-Developers.

So sorry for the late response! I try to respond to questions like these but sometimes I miss them. I realize you may have figured out a solution by now but I'll still give you my thoughts on your issue.
The reason you don't see your device listed it because TWRP does not officially support it. If you need TWRP, then your best option would be to search your device's forums on www.xda-developers.com/. This website has a community of people for almost every android device. Once you find the forum page for your device you can do some searching and see if anyone has made an unofficial version of TWRP for your device.
If you find one the post will most likely explain how to install it. I wouldn't recommend going this route unless you 100% percent need TWRP since it may be a more complicated process.

Some devices are not officially supported by the TWRP team. Fortunately, the code is open source, so some developers on XDA created versions of TWRP that support some of the officially unsupported devices.

No, the app needs root permission to flash TWRP.
I only see the "Select device" option, not the "Select a file to flash" *sigh*

So you're rooted then? You would only need to use Magisk to play Pokemon Go if you're rooted.
If have haven't rooted your phone or don't know what root is, I recommend not attempting it until you do slot of research.
What you may need is the actual TWRP custom recovery. Once this is installed on your phone it would allow you to install Magisk. However, this video is on the TWRP app, not TWRP itself.

Okay, so here's how it goes.
You never need root to get a recovery. You can have a custom recovery installed without even knowing what root is.
However, to get root, the easiest way (for most devices) is to install it via custom recovery.
If your goal was to get root and a custom recovery, you would install the recovery and then use the recovery to get root.
The first step to installing a custom recovery is to unlock your device's bootloader. If your bootloader is not already unlocked, the app in the video won't help you.
Hope that could help clear things up, sorry for the long reply.

Also, if you are rooted you can use the app in the video which will install TWRP for you.
