Chris Kinsella I was in the upper league last year, which we only had to use USABats. But I moved to a senior league, and now I can use any bat. I can finally use my Mako
Kid was raking out there!! Often in the cage these can all look like bombs. So thanks for heading out to the field to show the comparison of how the ball travels off each bat. Nice setup guys, keep up the good work.
I'd be interested to see an exit speed comparison usa vs usssa. Exit speed could show the actual difference and give a quantifiable idea of the distance lost with the new bats.
This really shows the difference between these two rules it also shows the effect that even bbcor had on high school baseball even though he doesn't talk about bbcor. This is a really nice video showing that.
Thank you taking this time to make this video. Tough putting yourself out and then the trolls come out the woodwork with arm chair expert criticism. I’d like to see a video comparing these 2 or other identical bats of same size and weight both broken in. Maybe with that awesome device you had that measures speed distance etc. to see a more controlled comparison of new vs old standard. If the goal wasn’t specifically to hit the ball over the fence it might be a more clear comparison of the bat speed differences.
schultzy 44 exactly Ive been swinging bbcor for a while and when I was 13 I would watch the little league World Series and people at my school would be like "they hit way more homers than you do" while I'm on a 380 foot center field with bbcor bats, and they're on a 220 foot field with these loaded ass bats
I'm not sure how old your son or daughter is but if they can handle a big barrel bat you should take advantage. Easton should offer several budget bats in that Brigade line that are big barrels. I think Rawlings considers the 5150 a "premium" offering. The 2 5/8" barrel is small on it though. I'm thinking the Easton Ghost X Hyperlite will be a bat you see a ton of this spring in USA leagues.
What's actually pretty funny is that the standards committees openly admit to gearing the USABat standard to give "wood-like" performance. Well if the performance is similar to that of wood, why wouldn't I just get a maple bat for less than half the price? The entire purpose of making metal bats back in the day was for more pop out of smaller players. Now it's just money a racket. They will change the standards again in a season or two and make all the parents buy Timmy another $300 piece of garbage that will be obsolete withing another 18 months. Move the fences in and swing wood. Problem solved.
Not sure if longer is better. we did one of these with 31" bats and 29" bat, the HR went over with the 29. bat speed would be my guess. Nice job on this as usual.
I think that depends on the hitter. I think bat control is the main factor that causes dingers (other than power). Lighter bats will cause the player to have better control but too lite will not give enough force to drive the ball farther
Yo, i just want to say keep up with the videos. Im not sure if these comments are trolling or what, but i watched the whole video and saw you point out the non core balls, and the fact that you were trying to hit home runs. Im sure your kid does not swing like this during games, almost positive. Im just here for the info on bats...not to comment on any1s swing or technique. I have a 10u kid and am trying to get the best equipment available. You are spending time to go thru lots of options and i for one greatly appreciate the time you take to do so. And wow, maybe use spell check ppl? Or focus on grammar instead of trash talking a channel that is giving out free content!
hawaiichan100 great commit sir, I came here for the same reason. I’m not in the business of putting down people who take their time to share informative videos like this one, matter fact I was just wondering last night if they even had a video like this! It definitely answered my questions
Nice post.. I guess the days of daddy going out and buying the best bat for the most pop is over... I like that the playing field will be more even for the kids.
Gotch 71 I'm one of those dads who does that. I enjoy looking for bats with my sons. baseball is a unique sport where the tools you give the players makes all the difference. And a bat is just a tool. especially with younger players. you can build their confidence and improve their game , and as they grow stronger and develop their skills they carry the confidence with them. what the USA rules are doing is like giving a carpenter a hacksaw and telling him to build you a deck. it can be done, but the results won't be as good. For example in basketball an expensive set of basketball shoes will not make you run faster or shoot better. But a bat can build skills, confidence and a desire to keep playing.
Some of those usssa 1.15 bats were stupid hot and could cause serious injury even in slow pitch softball it sucks seeing little 125lb guys hitting bombs thinking they are all every thing then tell em to swing a double wall and then they hit 200 ft pop ups
Matt Raines totally agree!! My son plays Travel Baseball here in Louisiana,I don’t know the science behind it but I feel like the high humidity does something to the bat. He was using a Demarini cranking the ball, then it blew in two during BP forcing him to finish the season with his Axe,nice bat but definitely didn’t have the pop of his Demarini. He still hit the ball well just I could see a slight drop in confidence. By no means are we loaded with cash,he’s playing on a VERY TIGHT budget so we’re always shopping for the best pop at an affordable price. This season we’re gonna give the Adidas Aero Burner a Shot, still have the Axe though he’s fixing to outgrow it. Being a carpenter I thought your analysis was spot on,I could build a home with a coping saw but I guarantee you it’ll take longer and might not be as nice as a Dewalt built home. Here’s the rub though, if your kid gets that no matter what it’s gonna take hard work he’s gonna succeed, good equipment makes the journey a whole lot more enjoyable!!
My bat is a USA It’s an Easton but I don’t know what type it is but I rake with it I got 20 swings and hit 8 over a 225 fence but easily USSSA is a better bat btw I’ve hit a 270 with a USA bat you just have to swing for contact and it goes far i am 13 though idk how old your kid is
As a baseball player who grew up with USSSA 1.15 bats I must say I don't like the new USA bat standard. But now I am 18 years old and swing a BBCOR, which I think is appropriate for ages 13+. I think for kids 12 and under they should be allowed to use the 1.15 bats but then make the jump to BBCOR when they get older
I just finished my last year of little league and I was using a drop 8 zen. I hit 6 homeruns but the drop off from travel the difference is miles apart
Back in the day, teams only had wood bats. Occasionally someone would bring an old aluminum bat. They were fun to hit with after hitting with a wood bat for so long.
Good video, entertaining... sure much criticism of the boys swing... sure looks good to me: elbows apart, nice move to the front, no bug squish, no bat drag, great shoulder tilt and full turn... keep up the good work, kid. The altitude has some effect, too, cuz Utah isn't sea level.
Why compare bats of different weights and also USA vs USSSA? For a fair comparison you would have to compare bats of the same length and weight. Still, great hitting from the batter!
I think these are a good idea and to everyone saying we should just swing wood, I think we shouldn’t. Wood bats are more expensive over a season because they break and a good woody is like $100+ so it would add up quick if you get a couple fastballs of the hands. I personally love swinging wood though.
Hey guys, I think it would be really helpful to post a video comparing low and high end of the same brand of bat. IE USABat Easton Ghost X vs Easton S250 or S450
Good Video USA sounds like BBCOR, probably should have gone to that years ago. Then a 200 foot field would be good for 12U players instead of kids hitting balls 300 feet at 12. I think they should all switch to these bats. I would do the experiment with a tee and radar gun to see the ball exit speed and distance ball is going, then throw in a wood bat too just to see. When I compare I get brand new balls and I also number them and use them in the same order 1-8.
Are both bats new? It sounded like only the USA Bat was new. It takes time for the composite bats to break in unless you get it rolled. Just want to add that in for a "fair comparison".
I know in going to sound like an A-hole to some but that kid has a decent swing, not a good one. The bats are going to do what they are meant to do and stop these kids with bad swings from thinking they are better than they are. Making them work at their craft. I hate seeing kids with bad swings think they hit bombs with the zens and other hot bats when the same swing with a wood bat or similar bat they would use in the pros would be an easy pop fly.
While i agree with part of that, if you actually read the USA bat FAQ - they specifically say it was NOT a safety issue. Not that I agree with that completely, but just pointing it out.
I agree. I've seen to many hackers get that lucky shot over the fence and think they're awesome only to get squished into reality against better pitchers and different bats as they move up. I've seen kids that have really nice swings that have hit a home run until high school but lead their teams in Batting %, Slugging %, On Base %, and OPS. I'd rather have a numbers hitter than someone who hits an occasional singer and high strike out % any day.
Very cool. The kid is not too big, but jacking them out. Must have been getting tired. Amazing research. I want to do something similar and measure distance hit...find out what percent less the new bats travel. Nice job.
My 9 year old son is using the AXE Origin 30 22oz bat and its definitely hot. The baseballs are just screaming off his hits. I'm not getting another brand after buying this one
I think you should do a further review on the bats as your son using them in the cage or whatever, so they are showing the bats well its broken in good.
My son has both these bats. The USA bat buzzes his hands so bad he hates it. So it took a few cuts with it myself and had the same results. Is this a defective bat?We had several kids for batting practice and they were all using the cheaper USA bat with no problems.
John Freitas To maximize distance within the USA Bat Standard, they probably have to make the connection stiffer. The stiffer the connection, the more hand buzzing one gets with off center contact. Answer: get a wood bat, tape off the sweet spot, and don't let your kid swing anything else (outside of games).
When I hit with the Easton ghost evaluation, it rattles and I think something in the inside is broke any options? We called Easton and they said that they replace it but it’s really fragile
The greatest time in a dads life is when his son plays little league baseball. When his son grows older and stops playing for whatever reason becomes an emptiness for that dad. Enjoy it while it lasts.
Could you do a 2 3/4 vs 2 1/4 comparison? My observation is both can hit big, but there are way more slow grounders and easy pop flies with a 2 3/4. Once age allows the talent on the fielding teams to catch up, those 2 3/4 grounders and pops are outs ever time. It seems a kid may go down swinging with a 2 1/4, but he's gonna get on base more often with harder hits (to the fence or over the fence). Test my theory! (bonus test: Same weight bat, does the 2 3/4 big barrel slow bat speed over a 2 1/4?)
Everyone that comments what’s wrong with his swing you don’t have to criticize him, if you don’t have anything helpful to say don’t say anything bad about him.
Hi, I have a question and would appreciate your time and answer....... if there’s a deep chip on the barrel of the bat, will that effect the bat or it’s ‘pop’? .... My son accidentally hit a rock that was laying on the ground and chipped his new USA bat.
Is that barrel standard for little league!? Man I wish I had that big of a barrel back in my day maybe I wouldn't have went through 12 bats either dented or cracked every Easton model thank god for warranty!
Lucky all these kids playing on 200 foot fields. Throughout little league most fields I played on were 290ish left and right and 320ish center so I was only able to hit 3 home runs in Little League on those fences. I played travel league for a weekend on 250 and hit 3 home runs in one weekend
Thanks for posting, Been waiting to see a video of real swing performance of the new Ghost X, this was perfect. Question, we just purchased one yesterday and have only had the chance to hit off a tee into a net in the garage. After about 1 bucket of balls my son noticed there is a rattle inside the barrel when you rotate the bat from side to side, like there is a small piece of something loose. Being you guys swing hundreds of bats do you think it's just some glue from the end cap or could something have broken off somehow. Thanks in advance!! Enjoy your channel ⚾️
I had the same problem after 1 or 2 buckets also. I have been able to get a new one fast. We'll see how it will goes from now...But it was certainly not normal.
Really like to see that comparison add a wood bat, to see how "Wood like performance" the USA bat really is. Stinks that everyone has to buy a new bat now and for the most part only the high end stuff will be out for a while, but thank god the juiced bat error is over... should make everyone use wood. High performance bat, just means fake talent, if talent were measured by home-runs.
Nice work, can you do the same comparison on the easton gost x usa, rawlings quartro usa and the demarini voodoo usa bats, with that little slugger you got , to help us parents out here, apples to apples 30/20 to 30/20 or equivalent, thanks that would be greatly appreciated
Everyone’s a hitting coach lol he’s just a kid let him have fun playing baseball. He’s pretty good for his age and it says a lot that he’s at the field working on his game.
I think it will make the game more even. Let the fielders make the plays and be a good base runner to score. Instead of just relying on hitting homeruns.
So this is REALLY going to affect my u8 son who doesnt have much strength as it is. Really bummed for him. Feel like this will discourage him even more.
Who else was mad when they made us use USA bats
Oh I was hella mad, why did they ban mako's?
Mako’s were trash

austiniscool8 It doesn’t hit as hard, that’s the idea. Most leagues now require bbcor bats because of how naturally strong kids these days are

great... you get to pay $200+ for junk now. I'm thinking the best bet is just to get a Rawlings USA 5150 ($99) and be done with it.

Can you guys do an old little league bat comparison with the new USA bat
Yes. This will be our next video.
Do you personally prefer the marucci cat 7 or demarini cf zen
Matthew Miles cat 7
Im 14 and I’ve hit 3 homeruns with the ghost x on 320
Is that barrel standard for little league!? Man I wish I had that big of a barrel back in my day maybe I wouldn't have went through 12 bats either dented or cracked every Easton model thank god for warranty!
How/Where did you get the Easton USA Bat? I've been trying to buy one.
We know a guy... :) the small perks of dedicating a significant portion of your life tonreviewing bats....
Great video .. is that usssa ghost similiar to beast or more balanced and light ??
Same same. We just published our review of the ghost X that you can see some of the differences.
By the way this is a lot better to test the bats .. seeing the ball at field 👍🏽
IS the USA bat a 1 piece or 2 piece
Dang how short are your fences
200 with a metal bat is weak.
Bat Review you mean composite both are composite it’s just that USA composite has less pop for safety
Yeah 200 is nothing i can hit 350
Francisco Diaz if you can hit 350 as a kid then you’d be on espn lol
Matthew Solt as a 14 year old
@@hph.outdoors1850 composite definitely have more pop than a aluminum.
Will I be able to us a USA bat in fall ball
Lucky all these kids playing on 200 foot fields. Throughout little league most fields I played on were 290ish left and right and 320ish center so I was only able to hit 3 home runs in Little League on those fences. I played travel league for a weekend on 250 and hit 3 home runs in one weekend
Will you be doing reviews on the other bats as well? LS or Demarini? At this point, do you think composite is superior to alloy? Awesome video!
You should use Louisville slugger prime 919 31” it’s really good
Is that utah?
Are those bats big barrel
When will I be able to purchase a USA Bat
IAmbeast 123 friday
I have to use the USA bat
Thanks for posting, Been waiting to see a video of real swing performance of the new Ghost X, this was perfect.
Question, we just purchased one yesterday and have only had the chance to hit off a tee into a net in the garage. After about 1 bucket of balls my son noticed there is a rattle inside the barrel when you rotate the bat from side to side, like there is a small piece of something loose. Being you guys swing hundreds of bats do you think it's just some glue from the end cap or could something have broken off somehow. Thanks in advance!!
Enjoy your channel ⚾️
Yes we'd be super confident it was just some glue or something and it is not effecting performance..
I had the same problem after 1 or 2 buckets also. I have been able to get a new one fast. We'll see how it will goes from now...But it was certainly not normal.
im trying to see what is better i am looking for my birthday thank you (: this helped
I'm still confused what is the difference between usssa and USA bats
Not as many "s's"
The USA bat is designed and made to give performance that is like swinging a wood bat.
200 is nothing
Your kid has a nice swing tho
he's a kid
IKR I was hitting goose when I was 8
*those
Yeah that nothing i can it nearly 275 of soft toss and i just turned 12
Really like to see that comparison add a wood bat, to see how "Wood like performance" the USA bat really is. Stinks that everyone has to buy a new bat now and for the most part only the high end stuff will be out for a while, but thank god the juiced bat error is over... should make everyone use wood. High performance bat, just means fake talent, if talent were measured by home-runs.
"High performance bat, just means fake talent, if talent were measured by home-runs." - well said

Nice work, can you do the same comparison on the easton gost x usa, rawlings quartro usa and the demarini voodoo usa bats, with that little slugger you got , to help us parents out here, apples to apples 30/20 to 30/20 or equivalent, thanks that would be greatly appreciated
try the rawlings 917, its great, I have a bbcor 33/30, and since its last years model, they will be heavily discounted
David Schneider BBCOR is not affected by the USA bat standards. Just the -5 to - whatever youth through SR league bats for all leagues except USSSA.
how old is your son cause with the same bat usa my 12 year old son hits home runs on our 245 field
Everyone’s a hitting coach lol he’s just a kid let him have fun playing baseball. He’s pretty good for his age and it says a lot that he’s at the field working on his game.
I think it will make the game more even. Let the fielders make the plays and be a good base runner to score. Instead of just relying on hitting homeruns.
see this guy ^^^ yeah he's shit at hitting balls
These fields are in Utah I hit one over the house in left center with the ghost
Ha. Yeah. And you can hit one in that pool in that lady's back yard. Pretty great field.
That’s a risk standing that close😂😂
wonder how long it took to get that intro
Ok... here's a question I forgot to ask. When u busted out the new USA stamped Ghost x... was it broken in or rolled for this hr derby
Composites are "hot" out of the wrapper. Aluminum usually takes ~500 hits to break it in.
So this is REALLY going to affect my u8 son who doesnt have much strength as it is. Really bummed for him. Feel like this will discourage him even more.
joseph palacios You can use Usssa in travel still.
Hit a 200 fence in the air when I was 8 Gonzo
Kull Guy who cares
He has a very nice professional looking swing.
Do a Easton Ghost x vs Easton Beast x
It says home run deebe in the first few secends
I love the Ghost X I have it for little league. I can still hit bombs
Glad you like it. We've struggled a bit with it, but we'd guess the right hitter would really be able to work it out.
