I love Wes Andersen movies, but I’ve never seen Isle of Dogs. It’s in my queue now. Thank you 😊 I also have to say thanks for talking about the full flip method. I’m hoping my hubby takes it to heart - he’s a staunch sorter, and it’s been driving me slowly insane, lol. Forget what they say about male pattern balding - I swear it’s caused by puzzle sorting. Oh, and I LOVE the ending. Pure magic.
Not to guilt you about leaving the box behind, but the back of the box names many of the scenes depicted. The classic triangular boxes come with a lovely poster. I thought of bringing one of those because Rita Berman puzzles are all triangular and she is my favourite Heye artist. Awesome images for pick and place. But I thought the box would be awful to travel with. Next year, I'll bring the pieces and the poster only 😅 one of my favourite things about Heye is that the fit is looser, I hate when puzzles take forever to disassemble. I never do pickup challenges though. I have a bad left shoulder which makes those pickup and hold motions very uncomfortable.
I looked at the back of the box and even took a photo. If I remember correctly, there wasn’t all that much written - not enough to decipher which scenes represented what film. That’s why I didn’t feel bad about leaving it behind. Thanks again for gifting it to me. I don’t think any puzzle ended up making it back to NZ in a full box. 😝 Are you already planning for next year?? 💜🧩
Lovely looking puzzle, i adore wes anderson so this has been on my wishlist for a long time! His style is so lovely they could make puzzles of each of his films and I'd want to do them.
Oh, I need to watch that movie - well I want to watch all his movies now. I wish everyone could get every puzzle everywhere - that would be like a puzzler's heaven!
I'm not a huge Wes Anderson fan but have seem many of his movies. My favorite is Moonrise Kingdom and Fantastic Mr. Fox. Didn't love Life Aquatic or Grand Budapest Hotel though I do love his aesthetic! You can very easily tell one of his movies just by looking at the clothing and backgrounds, even the animated films. Isle of Dogs was good, too! Also, I don't blame you at all for only taking part of the box to save space! Makes a lot of sense.
Wes definitely has a distinct feel to the architecture and clothing - overall style to his movies. I like that about him but also think it would be cool if he did something completely different to throw us off. And thank you for recognising that the box is not the most important part of the puzzle hehehehe (anything to help justify what I do all the time).
Lovely puzzle, never heard of Wes Anderson though. Long time since I have watched any films either at the cinema or by some other format. I was amused with the subtitles which had you saying "standard twong pieces" and "fool flipper". 🤣 I have done some Heye puzzles but not very many. There is one in my to do queue called Thank You. My next puzzle will be a Yazz one called Candy Land.
The Outdo Hometore (based in Auckland but they only have a webstore I think) have lots of Heye and some of them are on special at the moment. On their website they say they are the NZ distributor for Heye. That's a nice colourful puzzle!
If you like puzzles with Posters and detailed Information on the backside, I would recommend getting one of the "The World of..." Puzzles from the Brand "Laurence King". They are absolutely gorgeous!! Unbelievable details. good quality pieces, no false fits. The fitting is a bit loose, so no pick up challenge ^^ but the puzzles are very enjoyable. And the boxes are square 🤩 "Heye" seems to be an old german surname, but i have no idea what it means (even though german is my native language) ^^. I pronounce it like "high" + "yay" (but don't stress the y's too much)
Oh, I’ve been looking at those puzzles and they seem like so much fun!! I think I can buy them here in NZ as well. Definitely on my wishlist. And thank you for the pronunciation - I think I understand how you are explaining it. 💜🧩
You’ve inspired me to do one of my Heye puzzles..I have Tim Burton and Stephen Spielberg….I’ve been saving for when someone comes to puzzle but I think I want to be selfish and do one on my own 😂 I have to tell you though…yesterday I competed in the semifinals of a team puzzle tournament and the puzzle came with a full sized poster so I remembered you assembling a circle of colors on the poster so I decided to do that with the puzzle and it was soooo helpful! Two of us used the poster to assemble the middle while the other two members did the borders….then we just slid the islands of pieces off the poster and into their spots! We got 2nd place and we continue on to the finals in December!
TIM BURTON!!! I would love a puzzle of his movies. Do it!! Enjoy the puzzle - it's not being selfish hehehe So smart of you to use the poster and then slide the section into place - genius move! Let me know how the finals go. WOOHOO!!!
I love "The Grand Budapest Hotel. I think it's among my most favourite movies of all time. I have three Heye puzzles: "The 7th day of creation" (1000 pieces), "Monaco Classic" (1500 pieces), and "Orchestra" (2000 pieces). Here's a link to "How to pronounce Heye in German": ruclips.net/video/13WJfsfpjT0/видео.htmlfeature=shared.
You came a long way. All the practice actually helps, cause if kept doing the sorting and pick place you wouldn't experience the caos. My preferred method is the full flip, but before I just did the sorting like everyone else and the steps on the box say to sort so I just did as I was told
I've now increased my Wes Anderson movie watching from zero to two !! I watched "World Aquatic" first. The "parody" style is something different to me. It was clever, but a little 'over the too' for me. I next watched "Isle of Dogs". Thanks for mentioning this one. I am also a dog lover, so this was agreeable to me. This was certainly intense, but all came out well in the end. I was thinking about other dog parodies but nothing came to mind. This did bring to mind the Russian classic satiric novel, "The Heart of a Dog", by Bulgakov. Now what is the difference between "satire" and "parody" - - - - hummmm? I can recommend the Bulgakov novel, I remember laughing and laughing when I read it. (And I did it the easy way - just for enjoyment - no effort to figure out the political enemies being targeted). I still plan to watch the Darjeeling Limited and the Grand Budapest Hotel one. This has opened up some different movies for me to try. Oh, and I think the yellow helicopter belongs to "Life Aquatic"😊
How wonderful that watching a jigsaw puzzle video on RUclips leads us to so many other fun things! Thanks for sharing the book - I wish I had (or made) more time to read. I just love puzzling so much! And yes, "Isle of Dogs" is intense...I cried even! My two monkeys are the most important thing in my life. 💜🧩
I’ve done two-British Music History (I believe that’s the title), Hotel Life, and I’ve got a third one in the wings-Train Station. They’re all cartoon art (my fave), and I’ve enjoyed the two I completed. I’m waiting for “real” winter to set in (I’m in Minnesota) before I tackle the third one. (And as far as pronunciation goes, I think “Watanabe” is “watta-nobby”, with stress on the first and third syllables 😉. I tried to check on the pronunciation of “Heye”, and got “hi”, “hay”, and “hi-ya”, so it’s anybody’s guess, 🥴)
Thank you for the pronunciation help - still no closer to solving the HEYE mystery hehehe I think I can better pronounce Watanabe now though. I need to ask Anne next time I see her how it is pronounced correctly. You are waiting for winter and here in NZ we are waiting for Summer!
I have done that in competition - it was last year's Australian Nationals with the Disney Family puzzle - I did the pick-and-place right out of the box. I do have a video on that competition you might enjoy watching if you haven't seen already. 💜🧩
We always pronounced it "hay." But I have no idea of the correct pronunciation. We did the 2000 pc "Trafalgar" put out by Heye. That was fun. I did it twice. I think the only Wes Anderson film I've seen is The Royal Tenanbaums.
Hi Donnalouise. Have you ever thought about getting a POBox or do you have one and I just don’t know. I know some RUclipsrs have them so people can send them things without knowing their street address. You might get sent a puzzle or 2 ☺️. It has crossed my mind to send you one a few times.
Hiya!! I had a PO Box years ago and might get another one soon. I would feel bad if people sent me stuff though. So nice of you to think of me though! 💜🧩
I’ve done a lot of Heye and never found them to have a loose fit/crumbly. I’m in Europe, I wonder if they are manufactured in different places for different parts of world?
It could be how this one was stored or manufactured as you suggested. It wasn't bad by any means, just crumblier than say a Ravensburger and more difficult to move sections around. Nothing that would stop me from doing again.
Option B :) (since I didn't want to tell bs just because I am German and that was how I prononced it without ever checking, if that's how the company intended it, I checked Instagram Reels XD)
Well I’ve been doing Heye puzzles for 11 years and that’s the way everyone in my puzzle circle pronounced it. While watching your video I looked it up online and it said the same thing. I could be wrong, but that’s the way I’ve always pronounced it and heard it pronounced by others here in Canada anyway. Not that it really matters to me, I just like the puzzles lol. I’ve done a few of the movie masters puzzles and also the castle of horrors, which I loved. ❤️
Love Wes Anderson films. The Grand Budapest Hotel and Isle of Dogs are my faves. Great puzzle, thanks for sharing! :)
Love both of those movies - I need to watch all of his films. Thanks for watching and commenting.
Isle of Dogs is my favourite Wes Anderson movie as well 😍 Lovely puzzle and video 🙂
Best movie!!!
I love reverse play of disassembling the puzzle.
I really enjoy them as well. I try not to do them too often so it doesn't lose its appeal to me.
Lovely.....😍😍😍😍😍
Thank you!

You have to watch it!!! HAHAHAHA Your message is too funny! Seriously, I am a reborned flipper now!

Totally agree!! I think all his movies would make great jigsaw puzzles!
Moonrise Kingdom is my favourite wes anderson movie. I wish this puzzle was available in south Africa
Oh, I need to watch that movie - well I want to watch all his movies now. I wish everyone could get every puzzle everywhere - that would be like a puzzler's heaven!
Deffo enjoyed it, thanks Donnalouise
Thanks for watching!
Excellent video! Beautiful puzzle!
It was very enjoyable to build - loved the colours. 💜🧩
Life aquatic with Steve Zissou & Royal Tenenbaum are my favorite.
I haven't seen either yet but definitely want to...
nice ending, that looked cool
Thanks! It was such a fun puzzle. 💜🧩
I never heard of wes anderson, but the grand hotel was a great movie.
He makes some really great films which such cool aesthetics. 💜🧩
I am currently full flipping a puzzle while you are talking about becoming a full flipper 😆
We shall all become FULL FLIPPERS!!! HAHAHA 💜🧩

I am definitely a FOOL FLIPPER! HAHAHAHAHA I still want to do a Yazz puzzle - on my list of brands to get ahold of someday...

I've not heard of this store - I need to look them up. Thank you!
That place outdo home store has quite a few Heyes. Many with their triangle box
Never heard of Wes Anderson, and never saw any of those movies. I say "hay", but don't know if that's right.

It is fun to play around with different puzzling styles. 💜🧩

AND a question. Would you ever consider, in a competition, puzzling by placing pieces out of the box? Have you ever done this?
I have done that in competition - it was last year's Australian Nationals with the Disney Family puzzle - I did the pick-and-place right out of the box. I do have a video on that competition you might enjoy watching if you haven't seen already. 💜🧩

I need to contact someone at the company and ask how they say it. Always great when you like a puzzle so much to do it multiple times. 💜🧩
Hi Donnalouise. Have you ever thought about getting a POBox or do you have one and I just don’t know. I know some RUclipsrs have them so people can send them things without knowing their street address. You might get sent a puzzle or 2 ☺️. It has crossed my mind to send you one a few times.

oh! I’ll go check their Instagram as well - never thought about doing that - thank you 💜🧩
Heye has 2 syllables He-ye, so obviously your first 2 options can't be right.
I always pronounced it like that.
...
It’s option B, pronounced “hay”.
Okay great - can I ask how you know this?
Well I’ve been doing Heye puzzles for 11 years and that’s the way everyone in my puzzle circle pronounced it. While watching your video I looked it up online and it said the same thing. I could be wrong, but that’s the way I’ve always pronounced it and heard it pronounced by others here in Canada anyway. Not that it really matters to me, I just like the puzzles lol. I’ve done a few of the movie masters puzzles and also the castle of horrors, which I loved. ❤️
