Looks like you enjoyed your time in China! Looks like they have some beautiful fun puzzles! Fabulous Donnalouise and thank you for sharing! Merry Christmas 🎄🎄🎄
Love the idea of a coffee shop with puzzles! This is certainly one of the advantages of having plastic puzzles because they are not damaged by liquid. I keep drinks far away from my puzzles.
I seriously would open a coffee and puzzle café in a heartbeat if I could! And you are absolutely correct, plastic pieces much more durable in such an environment.
Wow, this looks like it was an amazing trip! I'm jealous of all the new puzzles you got to see (and perhaps bring home!). I really want to try one of those suitcase puzzles. Very unique idea...
I'm just finishing up the Puzzle Haul video from this trip so you will get to see all the goodies I did bring home with me. I hope you enjoy! And yes, I will be the first to admit that I was so spoiled! 💜🧩
Im so excited for this video!! Once I started doing Pintoo/Piece Relax I was SO sold. Seriously you can't compare! The artwork alone! Im SO glad you got to go and let us see this behind the scenes
Omg this is Disney world for puzzlers! I loved all attention to details throughout. I bet Alfonso has his head full of ideas for upcoming worlds. This looks like a dream to me. I love the XS piece puzzles. I usually do them in bed on a foamboard to relax. Great recap DL!
So much attention to detail - every thing was well thought out. And I didn't even have the chance to show it all to you. You'll see some more in my haul video which will be coming out next week. Well you would have loved this XS small piece puzzle - so tiny!!! Once I had that border done, I felt I did quite well on the rest of it. My fingers just feel so big compared to the pieces.
This is a great recap video. The coffee shop so cute, beautiful puzzles, and all the puzzle competitions in their categories were so interesting. Especially how organized they are with puzzle count, material used to make the puzzle, all the food and the details, they really take it seriously. I noticed their tables are huge. Like they can be sure their pieces won’t be lost😅 Do you know why their tables are so spacious for the competitions?
I should have spoken about the tables - good question! So for pairs, there were 4 sets of pairs per large table area with 1 judge - so 8 puzzlers. D'Arne and I had the same amount of space as everyone for pairs. But for individuals, there are 8 individual puzzlers per large table area with 1 judge. So technically in the video you are seeing Alfonso and me take up the space that 2 puzzlers occupied. They had the individual tables divided up further so everyone knew the area within which they had to puzzling. We were off at the back with a special table so we had more room.
I'm from Finland and Moomins are our national treasure! Everybody, big and small, loves the Moomins 😄 We love the cartoon and a lot of people collect toys, mugs, bedsheets, towels, home decor or clothes with the characters on them 🤭
I love how unique and varied the format is for this competition. And I'm so glad they had the pieces laid out for the kids, great way to reduce the pressure for them and keep it fun. I hope you and Janette wear matching gowns for next year's World's 😄💖🧩
Wow that looks like an unique puzzle adventure. I love the different puzzles. Just wondering if you were able to speak English with a lot of contestants? And how difficult was it to find housing (hotel) or was this also arranged?
Everything was arranged for us - hotels, transportation, food - we were so well taken care of. I did venture on the metro myself in Shanghai - quite proud of that. Many of the competitors did speak English but we also had Spanish and English translators with us to help. I never felt communication was a problem.

I love the concept of the format of the competition! Brings in that strategy side as an extra consideration.
I'm glad you had a great time!

Well I feel like I need more Moomins in my life - they just make me smile.
We had the cartoons in the uk dubbed into English I used to love them growing up
What a unique opportunity! You’re living the puzzler’s dream 😊

Could you imagine us both dressed up in ball gowns for next year?!?! HAHAHA I love it!!!

I am quite familiar with Moomin as several of those books exist in Esperanto.
Oh wow, that's really cool!!! I need to find more Moomins - they just look so adorable!
I’m very happy to hear about your trip to China 😊! I wished to be there. Sadly I don’t have a passport 🙁
A passport is my passage to puzzle getaways - I couldn't be without one. Hope you get one some day and travel as well.
