My life in Canada for the last 18 years, prison, a near deportation and why people should come | LNN

- If there is one thing Alex is advocating for, is for Kenyans to go to Canada and not give in to fear. He has been there for 18 years and to him, the place is great and any determined person will eventually make it.
But, he also knows what it means to be imprisoned and almost deported from the same country .
So, how exactly did prison change his life, why was he never deported and what can we all learn from his journey ?

Good morning too LYNN ❤
It is refreshing to hear an immigrant speaking positively about life in majuu 😁
Mouth watering…. interesting educative… the more i listen the more i want…. wish Interview could run for hours 👍
Best interview
Wow 😅 amazing 🤩
The world is too big to stay in one place and life is too short to do just one thing.
I needed to hear this today. Thank you.
Very encouraging
❤❤ Amen 🙏
Boom. This is my confirmation.
Thanks Alex! as I was discouraged with plans of helping my nephew to go to Canada coz of what's going around tiktok, now am encouraged to do so, with God nothing is impossible I know I'll come back here to give testimony. Thanks alot Lynn for hosting Alex na mbarikiwe.
Brothers and sisters i live in Canada and this country is one if not the best in the world. Don't get get me wrong, of course nothing is perfect and that being said, in Canada we work, work and work and for those blessed with coming from peaceful countries like Kenya you can come here and make money to build something big back home.
Minimum wage here is $15 an hour and I can guarantee you few people in Africa make that amount even a month. However, for an educated African obviously you want more than that and you should come with skills that will allow you to make at least $30 an hour. Skills now needed are those like in the IT, plumbery, car mechanics, nurses, electricians, construction industries. These guys make more money than those in the offices with university degrees.
When I say this I'm not talking about those who learned those skills from the streets, I'm talking about approved credentials.
One more thing you should know is that coming here as a single person isn't advisable, couples make more money and achieve more.
How can a kenya registered nurse get a job in canada, the process of getting into the Canadian registered nurse
Thanks bro. I live in Toronto and I will always encourage people to come and make it a home for themselves. I have my siblings and cousins there and I alwaysvisit every year
Realy am trying to get a chance to come there ,am here in Qatar
Hi @freddymugasa, do you any employers or agents who can get for me an electrician job.
So, there's a price to pay for everything in life... you like the beauty of roses, you'll have to put up with the thorns. Love the beauty of the rainbow🌈? You gotta put up with the rain😅 nothing worth having comes easy. Not in Kenya & certainly not in Canada😊 myself, I came to Canada from Kenya, Eldoret. 30 someodd years ago. Never been homeless and haven't experienced any severe hardships. I attribute this, perhaps, due to the fact I've always never lost sight of my objectives, to be successful. And, success to me does not mean you're hoarding tons of cash & sleepless nights. It means you live within your means & don't fail to plan. Go to bed early, wake up early, exercise, eat well, socialize, keep up with your industry trends & apply this where you need to. You don't need 3 Mcmansions. You only need one small house to hold you & your loved ones. Do not try to keep up with anyone. Mind your own business. Live & let live. Let me know how this works for you 😂
In Canada and any other foreign countries job opportunities are there..if you get a chance go and try building yourself. If it doesn't work out it won't hurt to go back to Kenya!
No need to fear, kama huja kosea kenya ni kurudi tu
Well said! Canada has not worked out for many. It has also worked for many. I think it has to do with destiny.

My daughter relocated to 🇨🇦 through the official migration programme. Now in her second year. Good job within a month of landing. Visited her and met enough Kenyans, some there for 20+ years. It may not be for everyone but IMO, the quality of life is✨
Am preparing to go Canada where is official migration programme I can get visa
Kindly share with us the official migration programs
Hello kindly share the link to official migration programme..how to go about it
The way Alex is positive and his love for God tells it all. This an eye opener for our brothers and sisters who are pursuing to go to Canada. Am amazed that after 18 years he still has a Kenyan accent. This says alot about who he really is. Thanks Lynn for the episode 🎉
Coz he's speaking to kenyan, what did you expect?
@@jemutaijoy5700 but most Kenyans especially when speaking to fellow kenyans is when the accent comes out strong
People have Kenyan accents because they want to have it some change it to fit in.
@carolinekamande8579 which accent..coz when I am speaking English to my kenyan brother or sister I speak differently as when I am speaking to a west African or American..not everyone understands our British English hence you have to do what you gonna do for you to fit in and to avoid language barrier maybe👍
Alex is talking the truth...i have been here for 4 months and i tell you Canada is good... character development ndio lazima.. and it helps you to go through the process and you get what God has kept for you and what you really want...i encourage people to come if you get a way.
For agent.. they really help in getting the Visa.. that is all.. don't be cheated on anything else.. you get here you get into the process and you have to do it for yourself.. but Canada people and government are very helpful...i thank God i came..in whichever way i can't regret..i thank God 🙏
Which agent would you recommend please
Everything Munene talked about today is true! The way of life in the Western countries is very straight forward and clearly structured. No magendo!
Thank you Alex for speaking on behalf of many of us here in Canada. I have been here for 22 years and I believe the few that say Canada is not good is because things didn’t work for them. Just like in Kenya many can’t say Kenya is working for them. Great opportunities in this Country, Canada.
Hello njeri

I'm glad that someone is affirming something I once heard that it's better to be in Canada because you won't be in the streets forever, that somehow you will find a way out of that situation. Thanks Lynn once again for always inspiring us I can tell you for free we look forward to more of your shows. The guest was of great help since he is a resident hence give first hand information he also sound quite informed with the Canadian laws.
I tried going to Canada while young but i was not able to. Now i have sons and we are trying to apply for Canada. We have not been successful. Praying for our dream to be a reality.

Thank you, Lynn. This is one of the most informative Diasporans you have interviewed. Alex, your honesty about navigating the Diasporan journey, bureaucracy, and transformative, evolving experiences is so openly honest. Also, your empathic understanding for those willing to try but, reminding them to remember to consult God first for everything
I love how our brother has put everything straight. I went to Canada as a student and went through the same system that’s going on right now. I got my papers and moved south to be with my parents. I have always encourage people to move there wakipata chance and they have to be serious about their lives. The system was overwhelmed by influx of people and it will absorbs all Kenyans. I always ask my friends wenye wako Canada to help and host as many Kenyans or African as they can. Canada is good and kama haikuwa canada I won’t have come to the USA. If you have a visa kwenda canada. Go to other provinces like Alberta, Nova Scotia, Manitoba mahali hakuna large population.
Well said 🙏

Thank you brother for sharing all that!!!!!

This is so inspiring... I still want to go to Canada and I will keep pushing
Hello Lynn ,let me take position and listen to this story because my dream country is Canada 🇨🇦
This show is an eye-opener for me. I'm trusting God for an opportunity in Canada.
Talking about visa, I'm a south African, huge fan of this show. Love the work Lynn you are doing with your team. I can't wait for you guys to be in south Africa 😄, I hope to meet you *star struck ⭐😃⭐
Yes!
I can affirm you that, as a South Sudanese full Canadian citizen citizen since 2001 (22) years here, the brother (Alex) have said; the truth 100% about the life here in Canada.
Remember, United States of America just 25 kilometers South of the border here is totally different in comparisons.
Amazing power talk Lynn & Alex.
Alex is so positive about everything & this is the spirit i want 🔥🔥
No giving up!
Thank you for the info Alex.
Be blessed 🙏
The way the vedio shows those Toronto condos is so funny in the beginning of the video. Those condos cost about $2500-$3500/month😂. Living in the downtown is horrible. In fact, living in Toronto is something I do not advise newcomers to do. Please, Kenyans, when you move to Canada, move to smaller cities. Toronto will punish you. In smaller cities, you will be able to build community and net work easily.
Two things to avoid in Canada if you want to avoid mental stress.
1. Abide by the law no matter what.
2. Do not ruin your credit because once you do that, forget buying a house or getting loans or anything that needs you to have a good credit even getting an apartment some landlords want to see your credit. Some not all.
Alex my Ex classmate... can't forget how amazing you were in basketball....you inspires the class of 2001 with Biblical scriptures on a daily basis.
It was a pleasure watching and listening to your story which you never happened to give us in our WhatsApp group

Thank you for bearing witness for Alex. Bless you!

I like the maturity of Alex about everything. I lived in 🇨🇦 for 4yrs in the early 2000 & it was a lifetime experience. I now live in the UK, but most people who talk bad about 🇨🇦 went there with that quick rich mentality so that they can show off on social media or whenever they come back to Africa for a visit. Any country that offers free top-notch healthcare, education, unlimited job opportunities, clean drinking water, good service delivery etc is good for sane people who want to better their lives. If you get that chance, grab it with both hands. Stay away from those fake RUclips wannabes who're looking for content by instilling fear on you. & most of those people always moan about how bad 🇨🇦 is for content views, but you'll never hear them saying they're leaving 🇨🇦, 🇬🇧, 🇺🇸, 🇦🇺, 🇳🇿 etc.
They should interview us who went to Canada before smart phones. Ok, black berry was the thing then, but only facebook was upcoming social media platform. RUclipsrs were not making miragtion vedios or house tours, this is what i wore to Beyonce concert( meanwhile Beyonce was having concerts then) Now people move to Canada and want the house that a youtuber is show casing on her channel. They want quick quick. I am glad i moved before social media was a thing. I had nothing to compare Canada to. Infact those days if you landed into a good host family, you were pretty much set.
@FlourishtheMillionaire389
Same here. I'm glad I took that plunge before the social media. I enjoyed my time in 🇨🇦. I also spent 2 years living & working in 🇺🇸 before I moved to 🇬🇧. Building wealth takes time, but these youtubers don't get it. They're looking for quick, fix & get rich quick schemes.
Too honest-honesty is a sin these days@@Flourish_today -i have seen people leaving affordable apartments and renting high end homes to just make sure they also host 'BBQ'............At the end of it all,one is chewing their nails looking at the ceilings because bills have piled up,nothing attached to one's name etc
@@Stirlingshirecastlehow is life there in UK. A friend of mine wants me pay alot of money to come there. Kuko aje
@johnienijohnie
For, me it is good. I've been here for a while now & I know how the system works. Avoid paying a lot of 💰. If you want to come, try using British owned companies & avoid black African owned care agencies. I've seen them exploiting their fellow Africans. If you're a degree holder, you can use the skilled route to come. First, check the govt skilled jobs that are on demand & take it from there.
Refreshing, its not even faiir to speak negatively of a Country that tops in accomodating migrants. Kudos Alex😃Liz, excellent questions.
I've lived in the US for over 30 years and I can assure you that my brother is talking out of his axx. If you can afford 2 meals a day in Kenya or anywhere in Africa, you have no business coming to the west to be a modern-day slave. The trade off is not worthy the crams you'll get once you migrate. My people, enjoy your short life while you can! Don't trade off your integrity and dignity for this trap!
Watching from calgary well said i just joined the Kenyan community in Calgary.i cant imagine leaving Canada
I love love this episode and how Alex is so optimistic
Alex has shown us the importance of seeking God first above everything.
Linn wapi ya this person ,he has made me want to visit canada and especially Calgary ,honest talk ,that was good
And you don’t have to be criminal to be arrested in Canada 🇨🇦 or USA 🇺🇸 All it takes is a small mistake or someone wicked telling a lie about you.
You are always innocent until proven guilty! This is the law of the western countries. But if you are arrested and you corporate with the corps, everything will turn out alright! Lies are not facts! So those who would tell lies on you may end up getting in trouble themselves for telling a lie!
It’s true
That's why we say hypocrisy, Satan's agencie
I love your mum. She is a fantastic woman. I just am surprised about your story. Wow, never judge the book by its cover. I love it.
Hey Lynn..great interview! You forgot to ask him to share his social media platforms and contacts.
I have a friend who came to America almost 30 years ago, got into the club scene and drinking. His life has spiraled out of control over the years and now he's very sick, on his deathbed. I wish he would have turned his life around like this gentleman. 😢
Am so grateful for the decision I made, Am enjoying it here from Ottawa .I thank God
I will not die before I reach Canada thus my prayers I will work tirelessly to be there one day
I hope your dreams come true because I had the same dreams even at the early age of 6 years. At 19 years it happened and I now have adult children and grandchildren born in the US. Stick to your dream but don't feel vain and bitter if doors don't seem to be opening as quickly as you would like. If you conceived the idea, you can achieve it.
Keep on praying time will come. It's good country have been here for more than 8 years..
He couldn't be deported as he had acquired citizenship through his mother as a minor and once a citizen of Canada or USA you can't be deported if arrested you're handed just like any other citizen.
Changing a visa into a work permit isn't a walk in the park sometimes it can be super easy eg through genuine marriage and sometimes it can be very difficult eg through asylum. Working under the table and breaking the law I wouldn't advise anyone to do that, work on getting legal work documents eg if you go as a visitor find a way to legally stay & work. Surround yourself with other legal people that have been through a similar process or find a lawyer who offer free consultations.
@LynnNgugi can i get In Touch with Alex for i am looking to go to Canada
maybe you should bring a story from a someone who returned ,so that we can make sound judgement of the stories
Calgary police don’t play , been seeing lots Kenyans getting deported from Calgary to Lethbridge so sad. If u have no family here it’s so tough 100%
We went to Montreal, Canada as children for two years. My dad was furthering his studies in medicine. We complained everyday that we missed Kenya and wanted to return. I wished I can be asked now. Alex is encouraging me to jump there.
When are you plan to relocate back in kenya?
InshaAllah I will one day go Canada 🇨🇦Maisha ni popote Bora uzima
Canada is the best place to be.
I have been here 6yrs ago an still going an if one gets a chance this is the place to be.
Which Canadian province is that?
A very inspiring story. Never let any worthy opportunity go to waste. I will never forget how I left a well paying job and relocated to the diaspora. Thirteen years down the line, I have no regrets.

One thing I would say is that moving either Canada and U.S, you need to be mentally ready. It is the opposite life style than Africa. But if you focused enough, you will be rewarded.
I came to America in my 20's. Luckily I lived in a small college town in the south. Every Kenyan I met was either doing their masters or PhD, no drinking, no drugs, no partying. In my mind I thought that was the norm. Eventually I got my masters degree, got a good job and never looked back. It really matters who you surround yourself with, they can make or break you.
Was is it in Portland?
@@nginamacharia8225 no, Blacksburg Virginia. Every Kenyan was attending Virginia Tech, a very prestigious university
I wish I can get a chance
The reason why many young Kenyans think drinking is part of initiation to adulthood blows the mind . I've seen and heard of many young Kenyans who wasted all their time drinking and pursuing women then ended up in jail and deportation
These countries US and Canada take care of crazy people, which African country does that? Just by being disabled you are in the government's payroll.
Good morning team Lnn
This man said it. Be honest. Put God first. Forget the party .
Hi Alex!help me with your number
Good morning LNN family 👋
Have a blissful weekend ❤️
He is right. Unfortunately people expect short cuts in these countries and that is the problem. Let no one lie to you that they will bend their system for you. You are expected to follow the rules and do as required, especially as an immigrant, and you won't have problems with the authorities.
Their systems can either align you or break you.
@Lynn ngugi and ua team, excellent interview...@Alex,thax alot for sharin ua story wid us,it's inspiring and informative alot...!!
Excellent interview Lynn! Thanks Alex for the inspirational story.
Waaa my brother you have said it all the positivity is on another level

Now this is a testimony
Unfortunately, some cartels have taken over LMIA process and are asking for CAN$30k or more from visitors who need work permits.
LMIA process needs better clarification since people don't know it's a new program to Canada's system and Employers.Secondly I hear pple say it's meant for certain provinces.I would say if not sure of a certain program seek for another way out rather than pouring your time and money.
LMIA is misunderstood. A company is given Approval after submitting a Labour Market Impact Assessement form + a fee (which is on the CIC website). Once approved they can hire foreigners to work for them ( workers are tied to that company, if you are fired or you resign, your work permit expires too unless you get another contract with a LMIA approved company.
Any company in Canada, but Québec might have an extra layer of Provincial Approval.
With $30K, one can do so much in Kenya, don't waste it on scoundrels who will pay you minimum wage and make life miserable.
@priskayvonneouko9060
Job seekers can no longer access those places, fast foods, etc, unless you pay some scammers $30k+. Then you work for minimum wage, and your work permit is closed for a number of years.
Cost of living has spiraled and holding one minimum wage job is untenable.
