My dad once had a wood shed, filled with wood! My family of (5 kids), back in the 80's and on a nice December weekend, well we would chop up the fallen trees, which my Dad would haul out of our woods. My dad had a hydraulic log splitter hooked up to the John Deere tractor, where I or my sister being but 10 or 12 would run that, while my siblings loaded the logs on it and threw the pieces into a trailer to be taken up to the wood shed. Mom made some hot stew for lunch and all was well...missed those days!!!

"The path of least resistance is good for nothing but water." and "A person who strives to find the path of least resistance will likely accomplish nothing." I'm an 8th grade math teacher and I can't wait to share those quotes with my students.
It baffles me to hear that you are getting guff for what you are accomplishing. Your moral compass is true and you provide for your family in a way that many of us are jealous of, in a good way. You don't live outside your means and you produce what you need. You seem to be a true family man and your kids have their heads on straight. Keep on keeping on!

Robert McAusland -- Please forgive me, but you are an educator. You can only be jealous of something you own, like your wife if someone else tries to entice her, 0r your children if somebody tries to take them away. God is a jealous God because we belong to Him and the devil is constantly trying to entice us away from Him. If somebody has something you want, the word to use is envious. I hope this helps. Sorry if I offend.

I love Red Poppy Ranch, but make no mistake, there's a lot of narrative here that's for entertainment purposes. This is a real channel, but not everything here is real. Like, there's no "opposition." They would have told us what was going on if there really were problems. For example, zoning issues, neighbor issues, family issues, etc. There may be some kind of minor issue, but they are definitely exaggerating and generalizing for entertainment purposes. That's okay with me.

When you paint the front post and beam, you might want to pick up reflective tape for it. A zig zag pattern so when someone is driving or backing in there at night, the lights will pick it up. Hopefully that will keep visitors from hitting the post. Worked on the door of my car, had a few near misses when I worked as a cop. A little prevention goes a long way. The reflective tape doesn't even have to be colored. Looks great and looking forward to your next post.

Never listen to negative comments. If I brought m&MS into class, there would be the students who only liked chocolate ones, or wanted bigger chocolate, or didn't eat chocolate and wanted Twinkies. Teachers would stop by my office and grab handfuls without asking while telling me chocolate was bad in the nurses office and I should provide apples. Everyone had an opinion. But when I held a first grader who had no breakfast at home, I gave her chocolates and got her breakfast and rightened her day it was wonderful. Every one has an opinion on everything but in reality its your ranch and you choose your m& ms. I love your videos! You put so much thought in them. Also so beautiful there this fall. As you may know from your analytics, if you look at them that is, that I have watched your videos for a while now. I am truly addicted to ya'll. I savor the vlogs now as they come out. And I know I haven't shared my adoration before now, but it feels like I want you to know how impressed and in awe of you all I am. Heath, I love you as a man, a truly good man. I love that the greatest gift you've given your children is the love you have for their mother, Cedar. Heath, I believe there is little if nothing that you CANNOT do! I have watched you think, design, build, overthink, and even doubt yourself sometimes. I've cried and laughed with you. I've been surprised and amazed by you. You are the definition of what a man should be. And taking your daughter on her first date... I cried. If more fathers believed as you do, there would be fewer younger women marrying the wrong men. The way you look at, and speak about, Cedar, is so impressive to me. I also believe you can be a hard person to be around when you are in your "brain engaged mode" and like many super creative people, you need a person like Cedar to help you. Even if it's just to clean up and organize behind you. That makes her perfect in my book. God really did pair the two of you and I sincerely hope you never take her for granted. The children. How blessed they are to have you and Cedar as parents. I could go on and on about each of them. Suffice to say how happy I've been watching them grow over the past 5 yrs in Idaho. I'm 66 and my homestead dreams will not get the life yours have been given. I will be content to live with my urban garden and furchildren. I have grandchildren who are grown and I'm waiting for great grandchildren. So, here I will be, in Indiana, savoring and relishing your vlogs as I live vicariously through ya'll. I'm so proud of the man I've gotten to know. You have my respect for the good man you are. You have my friendship because I know and appreciate what it has taken for you to be where you are today. I have learned so much from watching and listening to you. Keep doing what you do Heath. God will continue to Bless you. I hope to meet you all someday but if not, I have adopted you as my own on RUclips.

Anyone who watches you can tell you are tired Take some time even a day It shows in your face U are doing a fine Job and to all the "nay sayers" Well I can't say on you tube what i want to Except to say there is an old saying taught to me by my parent's and that is "If you can't say anything good Don't say anything at all" You just keep doing what you are doing and I will continue to watch you and Cedar as You accomplish more and more As always all the best from Allenford, Ontario, Canada

Great video. Doesn’t matter what anyone else thinks about your place because you love it, go for it. If I had the ability and time to do it I would too. Obstacles makes you stronger to diversity.

When I was a boy [back in the dark ages] we lived in Maine. We burned wood. Mostly maple, but there was an apple orchard nearby and we got the trimmings from the apple trees. I still remember the aroma of those apple sticks burning in the stove! Your narrative brought those losn forgotten memories flooding back...THX.

Heath you are just about the hardest worker out there! The Busted Wagon Ranch channel, that Guy works really hard as well! I heard on the comment board that he is your neighbor! Anyhow going back to what you said in the video about following the path of least resistance is right on! If you won't work hard you won't achieve all that you are capable of! So many folks out there could get a lot further in life but are not willing to struggle for it! To make a long story short I really admire you work ethic and what you have been able to achieve!
