  • Maiden flight and disastrous landing.
Everything was going great. It was flying amazing. The the battery started to beep critical so decided to bring it down.
I missed the runway by a foot and front gear got caught on the rough grass and ripped the whole front end clean off. Completely ripping the front gear as well.
My depth perception failed me, as I’m sure everybody can relate with this problem.
It’s a shame. It was so pretty. Now it will have some battle scars.
But stay tuned because there will be more to come from this beautiful bird

Don’t listen to negative comments. Repair it and give it another go. This time fly at a cruising speed and practice your approach a few times. Just keep doing it. I think you have the skill. It seemed windy and that grass doesn’t help. Also with that wind flaps suck. They upset the planes stability when coming in on final. You got this man. Try again. I’ll sub and watch.

I'm sorry for your loss... But you'll fix it in no time. You're getting a new fuselage and nose gear... All you have to do is transfer the crashed plane's guts into the new fuselage, and voilà... Your plane will look brand new again.

Why spend so much time of a maiden doing circuits rather than allowing time for some approaches before being stressed by a lowering battery. The approach was far too fast for that model of A10. So unnecessary - it isn't 'how the game is played'.

"This is how the game is played ..." with unlimited funds.
Get a decent highwing trainer and learn how to fly and foremost how to land. You never checked your plane out for its characteristics and stall speed and never checked out how you would get the bird down, then rushed it all when out of battery. You came in hot and slammed down hard. We learned how not to maiden!

@smokeymountainrctravisThompson hey brotha. Big fan. Yeah I agree. It didn’t help that my time was set to 5 mins and the train the battery was beeping critical was because it was way past the time so it was drained. I just missed the runway by about a foot. 🤦🏻😂🤷🏻‍♂️

I would check out a channel with some flying tips, practice, simulator time etc. That’s a lot of plane. A high wing trainer with low wing loading would be great for practice. The wind is a strike 1 to fly anything. Hang in there and thanks for sharing.

That's flying rc planes, I've been wanting the Eflite A10 bad, but my local club field has a very similar grass runway so I buy most planes with big beefy wheels so it handles those bumpy grass patches, my go to is the Eflite F4U Corsair and Timberx, and both 1.1. And 1.2 m T-28. That's very repairable and that's 1 reason I mostly stick to foamies. I could care less about the older members always talking trash about foamies over balsa models, most balsa models either take weeks to repair, or more trouble than they're worth, easierto buildanother. The best pilot on the field is the 1 having the most fun, screw everyone who talks about the 200 other ways you should fly or how to maiden it, fly it like you stole it
