SU-37 Maiden Flight

- Maiden flight for the 135% SU-37 built from Steve Shumate plans and converted for EDF. These Jets are hard to follow with a camera but the video at least proves she is airworthy. I'll make some adjustments and hope to get some new (and hopefully clearer) video soon. For details search for my screen name on wattflyer or rcgroups or send me a message.

The trick is in how you finish the foam. I use lightweight spackle to fill gaps and smooth the surface, a few light coats of minwax polycrylic, and then paint. I cut about 15 templates for the stripe patern and just moved them around till I liked the look.
The setup is listed in one of the earlier comments below. Good luck with your build. Shumate's planes fly great!
Very nice painted. With a 44Mhz Transmitter i like this time. From Switzerland greetings Tom
Thanks!
That plane (considering it's homemade just from plans) is BEAUTIFUL!
@wilmracer I'm thinking about it but my big mistake in the construction of this MIG is that I buid it without considering the transportation and a 7-foot plane is difficult trying to fit in a car or van : )
so I have to think of a way to make the wings removable
@MrFatehmamode
Not sure I follow completely. The 100% has a 30" wingspan. What I would do is take this file to a printer (office depot or similar) and have them print it for you at 135% if you want it to be exactly this size.
@smokeldogg
The military schemes have been done over and over on almost every RC SU-37 I've ever seen. Wanted something different. Try building one yourself instead of just playing video games....
@Xxww2riflexX
lol... She's not for sale at the moment. If I build too many more parkjets I'm going to run out of room and the lady of the house will force me to start selling them off...
Hello,
I am very desperate to build a sukhoi with EDF , but could not found the EDF plans. If u can send me the EDF plan , power set ups ( f0r 100%) for that , it will be a great help.
Thanks and Regards
Mohan
I'm not an expert but my understanding is that the terminator is one member of the super flanker "family". I based the name off Jetset44's plans. He seems to be pretty acurate to me.
This video was uploaded when youtube wasn't about how many views you got, or how much money you made. It was when a youtube video was a youtube video.

It's an awesome plane I love it!!! 👍👍👍
this is one of my most favorite jets, it really sucks that so few companies make decent models (with working surfaces anyways). best one i can find (albeit probably a scam) is the banana hobbies SU-37
I see. really nice plane btw . Never thought that Russian planes are that popular in US . Would be cool to attach a video feed to it and fly around neighbourhood .
i'm not trying to troll or anything but... you said January but on the camera it said February 1st
One who'd put such flames on his plane must indeed be a flamer. Why not use 711's paint. BTW, the Su-37 is the Flanker-F, not the Super Flanker.
great maiden!!!
thats ones sweet looking paintjob!!!
now you just need to set up some thrust vectoring nozzles for those edfs!
Great job ! But plz next time , try to make one that will be able to take down the chemtrails that are flying on the sky...
I thought the paint was really appealing... I don't know why so many seem to not like it.
really nice build!! F the downers. looking to one day build an f4 phantom same style with dual 80mm!
Cool plane! impressive teaching someone how to throw a plane on its maiden flight!
@wilmracer good job how much thrust dose it have looks like it did great in the wind
ialway lost m planes becouse dont know how to let it turn back :P
I am a little familiar with the aircraft in Russia. :)
You're the first one to pick up on that. The span is the same as the plans but when I added the ailerons I wanted a little more area. They are about 1" deeper than scale. You would have to be really familiar with the lines of the SU-37 to pick up on it, particularly when she's in flight. Nice catch!
u should put on an onboard camera !!! that would be soo awsome
I built this from the Shumate plans available at RCGroups or ParkJets dot com. It was pretty easy to convert for EDF even though the plans were for dual pusher props. Take a look at the threads on RCGroups and you will see that a lot of people have done this conversion to EDF with Shumate's design.
@MrFatehmamode
Back when I built this I just used acrobat reader and printed it tiled at 135%... These days I take the file on a USB stick to Kinkos or office depot and have the plans printed. They can do the scaling and it saves you a lot of time and effort having to tape the pages together.
@nathanshadbolt82
Thanks! I don't think I'm going to actuate the canards... the plane flies very nice as it is now that it is dialed in. She's actually on the bench right now getting new fans and motors, so the underpowered issue will hopefully be a thing of the past :-)
Good Luck! I would probably work my way up to an EDF jet... If you've got some Low wing aileron experience try a pusher parkjet. It will get you used to the speed and handling and still give you the immediate thrust to get yourself out of trouble...
that is the best looking park jet i have ever seen!!!!!!
Man just send me a PDF file so that I can Build me One
This is just standard EDF (electric Ducted Fan). No pulse jet or turbine and no special regulations to fly them around here. Lots (and I mean LOTS) of off-the-shelf options for EDFs these days.
@DanielMadrigalC
That is funny... I seem to build each of my planes large enough that I can JUST BARELY fit one of them in my jeep. You should see me pull up to the field and start pulling stuff out of the car... its like watching a clown car at a circus.
nice pIane but not an good sound for this jet....
@piratesnine
Head over to Wattflyer and search for threads by my username. You'll find a thread called Shumate SU37 Dual EDF Conversion... All the details are there!
I think its Su-37 Terminator , not superflanker
Nice job Carl and good production.

@smokeldogg thats actually a tiger design
I'm not 100% sure what battery I was using here as it was several years ago. I know it was a 4 cell. I think it might have been a 4000mAh but I'm not sure.
I'm hoping to put together a new power system for this one later this year and if I do I'll get new video. It flew well on the old system but was underpowered.
width of the wing is too big.
How high can it fly? And how far can it go? I don't know if my vision suck but when it went a little further away I couldn't see anything, I wish you could have placed a small camera on your model just to see how it looks from above:/ But, other than that you did an Amazing Job, honestly, I don't think I could ever bring myself to try and build one of those. Yours is Awesome!! Nice Job!
@bobsiopener
Thanks!
@XOROHN
Thanks! The EDF noise will never be quite as good as the real thing, but her new setup sounds a bit better IMO. Need to get video of that setup up on here.
@masster64 Thanks for watching! I went to your page to see how a real pro builder would do it. Funny... nothing there...
@thesniper1191
Thanks! I think some of the hate is that it isn't a military scheme, but who knows. I like it...
Hi, very nice work, my question is this: this jet used pulse jet engine or what class of engine using this airplane? and is difficult to make this class of engine
i like the paint and the emblem
hello. can u tell me ur setup?
nice build
Just watched it again.
good
SOUNDS GR8!
@DanielMadrigalC
Thanks! I've been watching your Learjet build. Looks great. Did you ever pick back up with that big MIG-29?
Can I buy that from U
Chingon!!!!!!
so awesome...
DUDE,, You ROCKED that plane. Congrats!!!!!!!!!!
Great!
nice
Wow that was a AWESOME Build thats for Sharing!!!!
Мне одному раскраска не нравиться?
Amazing and a pleasure to watch. Very happy for you. Undercarriage would be cool.
nice job on building and painting. looked like a great flight. congrats.
Great job on the build!! It looks awesome
watch my video of my rc airplane su37 mk2 made at home
Paint 10, build 10, pure awesomeness 10. Thanks for the vid!
bad ass jet. love the su 37 and your paint job.

Thanks! The range is really dictated by the radio gear, but most stuff these days can fly a LOT further and higher than anyone can see. To be responsible most RC pilots stay below 400 feet high and keep their aircraft within sight. To be honest these are not that hard to build and fly. This particular model can be built as detailed or as simple as you like. I've seen them tossed together in a weekend any they still flew great. If you think you'd enjoy it don't be intimidated by them. Check out RC groups and give one a shot!
nice plane by the way
@504redd
Sent! :-)
@wilmracer Can you please send me one too? :D
That's a great maiden flight!
Thanks!
Thanks!
Thanks!
ohhhh!!!! this rc plane of my dreams
Next step: UFO
nice little fers fast
mega abgefharen
what battery are you using?
sarcastic "Wow" 4:20
Good job grandpa
very nice work
Wonderful
Flies great, shame about the paint scheme
What scheme did you use on yours ;-)
Come on man don't be hurt 😭😭😭
lol... not hurt. just like to push back ;-)
Nice paint job and love the jet
Thanks!
beaetiful jet ! nice flight!
Thanks!
A decent one ☺☺☺☺
awesome! video or it didn't happen!
Next step: T-50 PAK FA!
Maybe one day. My next EDF will be a 90mm T-38 from wowplanes www.wowplanes.com/~wowplane/product_info.php?cPath=66&products_id=211
wilmracer with built-in camera GoPro?
I've got a GoPro that I may toss in them from time to time but at this point I'm not planning on FPV for the T-38 if that is what you mean.
How much it weighs friend???
About 5lbs. I've actually started to resurrect this one after she sat for several years. Got a pair of new fans for her and just need to get her back in the air!
Oo!! enough!! hmm mine weights 2.6kg....i dont know if i could make it fly...it has 70mm 12 blade fans and produces 3.2kg together....at hand launch i should have full throttle for the particular plane??
You should take it out cause this plane is really awesome and it deserves the best ;) keep up the good work!
Thanks! I think it will fly just great at that weight and power. There is a lot of lifting area on this jet and it will handle the extra loading just fine.
When you have further news share with as to enjoy with you the happiness of that great plane ;) Hmmm so you think this will handle right? i have this units www.banggood.com/FMS-70mm-12-Blades-Ducted-Fan-EDF-With-2845-KV2750-Motor-For-RC-Airplane-p-1023640.html two of those! hmm this plane needs full throttle at the hand launch right?? yep and the lifting also is huge...im so stress about it...i dont know if it works or no...we have a lot of snow and i can't do the maiden....
I'd launch with full throttle. With that much thrust I really think you'll be just fine. If you can find someone to launch for you that is the best think you can do. Launching from holding just one nacelle can create a little yaw. Launching like we did here (two handed over head) makes it nice and straight.
Why Su-37?
It is from a set of plans by Jetset44 and he called it a SU-37. I think that was the version of the SU-30 with canards www.rcgroups.com/forums/showthread.php?t=666686
the paint sucks though
+Vampire Volverene lol... Thanks for the view and the opinion ;-)
