Your logic for detectability applies the same to the health. A small % for the smallest health pool at the tier. I always go all in on a ships strengths and make sure to always play at them. Finding a middle ground almost defeats the purpose of ship variety. As for range, the greater your torp range the more individual battles you'll be able to impact more safely. More ships incoming from different angles allows more advanced topedo play from a greater concealement range. Torpedo range over reload depends of map awarness and player skill. If you find yourself unaware and missing torps, the reload is indeed better. Edit: The legendary trait unstoppable is currently glitched or miss worded because it applies its max legendary buff and currently works similiarly to quick fix.
@@TbullGaming While i see your point against inexperienced players. But anyone who just fires their entire salvo where the line tells them at long range is wrong. Using map awareness in tandem with player tendencies you can more times than not predict where a player is going to be next. That requires an experienced DD player, hence if you find yourself missing torps. Use the reduced reload. I just had a 192k tier 4 Kamikaze game with 20 torp hits and 7 kills. You dont get 20 torps hit in one game unless you know what you're doing. I dont think i would have had that many if i shaved 1-2km off of my max torp range.
First of all, great series...very informative and thought provoking. Second, I disagreed on two of your perk choices for Tanaka... ...until you explained your reasoning, and I thought "damn...he's got a really good point there..." 🤔👍😎
Enjoyed the video, I play on Xbox1 and have pretty much the identical build for Tanaka. Mine is level 16 legend 2. I find that he is the best for Japanese destroyers, using Bey at level 8 and Tyrwitt at 9. Last battle in Kaveri, I was never spotted the entire game and ended up with best game so far, 175454 total damage, three kills, Liquidator, Witherer and High Caliber. Since the Japanese line of destroyers is in my opinion superior to other nations ,I haven’t wasted a lot of effort on the lines. Keep up good work.
Looks like my Tanaka build, except I'm only rank 8 but legendary 2. I'm running Fragile Threat, which makes the ships weak from a hp perspective, but he's very stealthy. Was saving PO's to rank him to 12, but bought De Grasse and sank them into Lemmonier. Another thing, since I got the Maass I'm just not playing IJN destroyers very much. I'm always pushing forward, often too aggressively, and IJN guns are not enough when you stumble upon anything other than a rival Japanese DD. Great video! Hope to see more like it.
Most helpful. One principle I follow is that "You Can't Take It ALL With You", for configuring both ships and Commanders. There is no combination that will negate all weaknesses and maximise all strengths - imo, the best you can do is pick a general direction or "theme" and build out in that direction If you try to use the Commander to eliminate that ship's problems (such as trying to turn Jap DDs into gunboats), you will get something that might shoot OKish, but it still won't match a Brit or Yank DD and otherwise will be pretty mediocre. . For example, my beloved Fuso has Legendary Kondo, The resulting combination shoots straight but not as far as some other BBs, and is a close-quarters beast with extra heals that Will Just Not Burn Down. Which suits my playstyle just fine, and that is a vital consideration when matching up Commanders and ships..
Being IJN Destroyer focused myself this is exactly how I set mine up, currently at level 15 with legendary 1. Inspirations are Tyrwhitt and Sims. Don't have the others but I think I'd go with Sims even if I did, as I agree that the extra concealment is only marginally useful. (Mostly against other IJNs)
Each nation has 1 generic commander that everyone has, and then 2 commanders that are intended for each class. You can use them on other classes if you want, but any perk that mentions a specific class of ship is wasted if you use it on a different class
More useful info, as usual. I like this Captain as well. I use the extended torpedo range though. Very useful for camping battleships and cruisers, plus just keeping the max amount of chaos in the water. Always look forward to your content.
Another good vid. That is same build I use. Although even now I tend to switch it up depending in the tiers. I will say there is one inspiration that I have used but not sure how to evaluate how much it actually helps. Dewey. When I am in my DD, I like to spot fish in the water asap. Not for me but for my team. I get out there spotting to give my team a little edge in dodging the fishies. My Dewey expands the zone by 7.2%. But how many BBs it has saved, no way to know.
