Trying to find Colombia’s Lost City | Adventure Hike to Teyuna also known as Ciudad Perdida

- Discover Teyuna! It's older than Machu Picchu and not quite as famous. Known in Spanish as Ciudad Perdida or the "Lost City," it is located deep in the jungles of northern Colombia. You need weather-proof clothing and sturdy shoes for the four-day trek to the archeological site. Our reporter Joel Dullroy is making the adventurous journey to the Lost City. Join him on his trip!
Background: The ruins of Teyuna were once settled by the indigenous Tairona people. Their descendants still live today in the Wika and Kogi tribes in the mountains of the Sierra Nevada de Santa Marta.

@@revc9835 Yes, no doubt. The touring group I booked with was a global travel company called G Adventures and they were fantastic -- I have done three different trips with them on three different continents and my satisfaction level was 100% each time. For the Lost City trek specifically, they have a partnership with a local touring company called Magic Tours, from where the tour guides came from. My satisfaction level with them was also 100%.
@@Markjenson1894that's the problem I prefer to go with the Natives and no supporting these mass tourism after 2014. Was like going to acropolis the magic is missing

Did it in 2017, best trek ive done so far. Its physically also demanding. The cool thing is that you have to cross rivers. And back then it wasnt overrun at all, whicj is important. The, need to limit the number of tourists by all means.

I did that Route 2006 I was in Germany before but then I hear about the world cup and I run away. At the time was paramilitary areas and nobody not even the Tayrona go there or the coguis, we also pick up Jaua a fruit that let a ink for temporary tattoos and work all the Caribbean cost making tattoos. Was a beautiful experience, no tourist just me my friends and paramilitaries.
2:01 I can't watch this film. If I was on that expedition I would tell them that what they are doing is animal cruelty and exploitation. I would immediately turn around and walk back not only that I would unburden at least one of the mules and walk the animal back to the village and give him water to drink.

Spanish Conquistadors, spreading disease, war, slavery and conquest. That's what happened to the native people there and many other places, spreading all through South and North America
All the peoples conquered by the Spanish speak Spanish. It's a tell tale sign

Please start with the name. I was like what lost city? But ya not lost, we just want to keep it a secret. Here is another secret, Colombias know how important and sacrate animal fat is and asking for vegan food is an insult.
Did the trek a few weeks ago w/ my gf. It was amamzing. I hurt myself, def have to be in shape somewhat. I really want do it again
What time of year did you treck?
I went in late November. The site is closed every September, so don’t try to go then.
