- In this video I am hill walking up the Munro Schiehallion. It is a beginner friendly Munro and is an easy Munro for beginners.
Hillwalking up Schiehallion in Scotland is fun, hill walking in the Scottish highlands up Scotland's easiest mountain / munro.
Schiehallion is the best starter munro for bagging munros. I want to start camping and use tents in the future and to wild camping.
This mountain had small rock climbing / scrambling points at the top. Hillwalking in scotland is a good adventure. This munro is suitable for dogs, hillwalking with dogs. This is a good one for bagging the munros, munro bagging

I’m an American. I summited in ‘07 on a glorious cloudless sky, best view of my life.
Oh wow! Well if you come back over you still have 281 to go😂😂
I climbed schiehallion in 1992 when I was 7 years old. There certainly wasn't a path up it back then, just a boggy trail. This Munro holds a special place for me as my uncles ashes are buried in a cairn just off the summit. This was his favourite Munro.
That is so lovely! It is a great munro, how was it without a path? Did you have to use your map a lot more to navigate?
@@DanMunroMan it was literally a boggy trail that hugged the tree line from the car park and continued to criss-cross up the front to the top. I remember it was so boggy we were caked in mud. I may need to go back and climb schiehallion it looks like an enjoyable climb now.
@@MrGreekstatue yeah its a great climb! Hope when you climb it will bring back good memories
Reckon it was a ptarmigan which changes colour from white to brown between winter and summer to camouflage from predators
Aw really? Thanks for letting me know thats amazing!
Was thinking the same Jane, if you hear it flying away you'd definitely identify it, they have a distinctive loud cry. If you Google it Dan you'll see what I mean lol
@@MrSteveemac okay ill go have a look
"Don't really know my birds that well. The flying kind anyway" 🤣
Hahahahaha im glad you like that joke😂
Nice vlog pal. Have subscribed as keen to start bagging some Munroes myself.
Thanks Paul! And i hope you enjoy them, this is a good one to start on
Doing this next week. Looking forward to it! Great video
Oh i hope you enjoy it!
Thank you. great video at 65 i have just started to climb I have done 6 Munroe's so for and plan Schiehallion in the next week or so
Thanks Helena! Oooh exciting! I hope the video has showed you what you are in for! I hope you have a great day hiking!
Went up here last Tuesday. Lucky to get a good day for it. A great mountain. It’s a pity you got a lot of cloud cover when you went up, it’s never quite the same when that happens.
Hi Jimmy!, and aw lucky you, im about 50/50 with good views these days. And yeah it is never the same, still an enjoyable day though!
Great video, just started bagging them with my bf and our dogs only done 6 so far - so good to get an idea of the terrain to plan which ones they can do. Reckon on a dry day they will be able to scramble the rocks ☺️ Subscribed!
Thankyou very much! Hopefully i can get most of the videos out before you do them :)
Done it 3 weeks ago was amazing especially way the snow up top 💝
Yeah its a really good one, i imagine it was much harder at the top with all the snow
Done this yesterday after watching your video Dan ! Nice vlog mate , hope you keep them coming !
Aw Paul thanks for commenting that! It Means a lot! I hope you enjoyed your walk, and yes plenty more to go so ill keep them coming!
Similar views to when I did that walk Dan. Bit tougher when there's snow on the ground with all those rocks but a fine day out, well done 👍
Do you have the full gear? Like crampons and axe etc?
@@DanMunroMan Yea Dan, first time I went up a munro it was fine till I got above about 700m and found all the snow and ice. Ended up having a few scary moments so made sure I went and got the proper equipment before heading up the next
@@MrSteveemac aw thats crazy! I havent done any proper winter summits yet so i think ill be all the equipment later on in the year, excited for it tho!
Enjoying your vlog!
Thankyou! Ill keep them coming!
Schiehallion is a lovely climb/walk. I walked it in may 2017 and there was me an a couple, the feeling when you reach the summit and the view for miles is phenomenal. The top few hundred feet is a boulder field but it's worth it for the view. I was there on a clear day but it started foggy. I will go there again.
Yeah annoying when you think you will get clear skies at the top but then the fog comes down
Where do you find the digital 3D maps that you use?
Very helpful videos btw. Great work Dan.
Hi George! And thankyou, i use google earth, and i also use relive that maps my route :)
Are the paths clearly marked? I’d like to do it on my own but wouldn’t want to get lost! 😂
Yeah this is definitely one of the most clear munro routes you get, and its very busy so you definitely wouldnt get lost amy!
