Hey NSC! I've been watching some of your videos, and I think it's amazing what you do; it shows you have a lot of love for this stuff, so keep it up! But... I just tried to show the same love to my PS3 slim (CECH-2501A); tried delidding just the CELL by bending the tip of a thin knife and sharpening as much as I could so it would simulate your tool. I had the utmost care on trying to cut the silicone, but it went in maybe less than half a millimeter, and I knew the IHS wouldn't come off like that, so I let it be. It wasn't overheating before, but temps weren't that okay and the fan kept going at around 55% with long plays (3 hours +)... After putting everything back together and making sure all was in place, now I get a fan at 70% in less than 5 minutes (68°C MAX)... Funny thing is, the RSX is way cooler than it was at that percentage XD. Could I have messed up the thermal paste inside the IHS of the CELL that badly? The metal piece never even moved, all I did was use a hair dryer to heat it up a bit, but of course that didn't help... Give me strength, NSC XD!
Hi bro. First thing, it's not damaged at all 🤗 Second thing, i need more Infos, witch thermal paste, how good if the pressure, how good are the clamps, how good is the cooler it self. Maybe upload me some pictures or meet me on WhatsApp there i can help you live. Cheers

@@NSC-Modz Hah! In English for others: Good to know I can talk to you in my native language, since I'm Brazilian! I didn't give up on my quest, and decided to keep going the next day. I followed a tutorial on the forum GBA Temp where a guy used a piece of metal from an old calendar, which luckily I had some lying around here at home. I unfolded that piece, sanded it a lot to remove oxidation and hammered it to make it as smooth as possible. It wasn't easy, but I finally was able to cut the silicone in the CELL XD! I sweated a lot, and after removing the IHS, I found out that I had scratched the PCB slightly, but luckily it was in a place without traces. I cleaned up the excess silicone and old thermal grease (which was very dry), and I used the GD-007 as a replacement. I know it isn't one of the best, but it works ok. I finished up the process of adding paste over the IHS and the RSX (which I decided not to delid, since it wasn't getting too hot), I cleaned up and lubricated the bluray drive as well, because it was noisy, and I finally closed the PS3 up for testing. It worked perfectly, and the CELL became cooler than the RSX XD! Now it runs basically the same as when I first bought the PS3 (it was second hand, but barely used). I set up webMAN MOD with a 35% fan speed and a MAX temperature of 68°C. In not so demanding games, like Demon's Souls, the CELL stays at 63°C and the RSX doesn't go over 66°C in pleasant days (20°C+). On GTA V, which is the most demanding game I've tested, the RSX goes past 68°C, but the fan won't go over 40%. I'm extremely happy that I was able to fix my PS3, and I have to thank you for sharing so many educative videos! I know I'll have to take the IHS off the RSX as well, but maybe next time XD!
@@Julio-io9hm Maybe not so, because when I saw that the temps were rising so quickly, I immediately reapplied the thermal paste and made sure to spread all over, and I even bended the brackets a little to make more pressure. Temps kept rising like crazy... Thankfully, I went back to it and finished what I had started, as I tell it over NSC's response XD.
