Brava! I love your thoughts on each topic and really love your response about social media. For me it is just a fun place to connect with others and if I get inspired or learn something, great! But I am 61 and when I started practicing witchcraft PC's, iphones, the internet, social media, Amazon, etc., didn't even exist! I am not interested in playing to the algorithm, but I certainly notice how certain pics on Instagram are received. Ah, well! I love how empowering your responses are!

I agree! Plus, I feel anytime we support other witches, even if it's just watching their videos, is witchcraft! I would also add that there are some people who might be disabled and can't do much in the way of practice, but they can watch the community that they identify with and feel a kinship! ❤
You are one of the more authentic content creators on RUclips in my opinion. It shocked me when you said that people post videos saying bad things about you. While it makes me angry to hear that, I have to remember that those people are struggling with their own demons. My very favorite content is your art journal videos and your adventure tarot videos, but honestly, I love everything you do. Thank you for sharing a bit more about yourself in this video.

I love the aesthetics of your space! fairy lights and candles and art and the dolls and so much color. I think also, as someone who is right around your age, looking at my daughter's apartment with her girlfriend I can look at my space more critically but there is a big generational difference. we didn't grow up with the internet and so many niche aesthetics, we didn't come out of the gate into adulthood with so much exposure to pinterest pages etc. that these young folks did. our spaces and possessions have more personal history to them and it can make it a more complex less coherent look.
I completely agree with you regarding 'fitting in'. I never felt I fitted in from childhood. I wasnt my authentic self until my 50s. Often people dont become their true selves til later in life. Us 'crones' have that wisdom to pass on to the younger ones.😊❤
I just celebrated my 68th birthday and have only recently found your channel. I am always happy to find quality channels by older individuals because the years of experience they bring adds a breadth, depth, and expansiveness I deeply value. I find you to be "real" and humble, yet confident in who you are and the path you walk. I hope you make videos more frequently. Our paths seem very similar.

To be honest, I watch this channel because of your dolls channel and because I like tarot cards and I want to go back into tarot reading. I am not even a big tarot decks collector. I don't have that many decks and most of them I had for years. I know nothing about Wicca or anything witchy. I just like to listen to you because you have a lovely voice and a charming personality. It is very relaxing to listen to you. I guess I should not comment on that type of videos because it is not something I know anything about. I should stick to dolls!!

Candy, I love this "find someone whose melody you want to listen to" ❤✨ I agree we can only talk about our own experience but comparison is always dangerous and a thief of joy. We must be responsible for ourselves and do our shadow work. I also 💯 percent agree about how the most precious, powerful and the majority of practice can only really be learnt experientially. And yesssss so hard to put into words. I've been reflecting on this a lot in last year how so much of what I actually do isn't transferable at all to video because witchcraft and spirituality is a lot of experiential and felt work. ❤ And yesssss u explained it so well about how pg isn't just making stuff up with the Tarot and astrology analogy. Exactly - Studying traditions and paradigms and history is important as is fact checking but ultimately the witch has their own path and must follow their intuition. There is so much to comment on with your responses to this tag. First I want to say I subscribe to both of your channels and always look forward to what you want to share. I have also enjoyed your art videos including the ones where you engage in visual and spoken poetry. With this video, I do like how you offer such a clear understanding and respect regarding teaching. Your honesty is refreshing. I especially like how honest you are about saying, you don't have a channel to learn, but to share your experiences and to offer support and new ideas (like connecting your dolls to your spiritual practice!). I also found your ideas on "emotional grifting" very interesting, and would love to see a full video from you on that. As you were describing it, I realized I do follow some RUclips channels that engage in emotional grifting especially when it comes to taking the moral high ground. An individual may say, "This is what I do . . ." and the inference is, "what I do is more authentic, more meaningful, etc. It is what you said--making comparisons and creating polarization. I believe your work on RUclips matters and I believe it all comes from an honest, authentic, and creative place.
You are hands down one of my favorite channels - even outside of tarotube. I really enjoy hearing your thoughts and I find myself agreeing with them far more often than not. Plus, you have such a way with words? "You choose where your feet tread" is such a simple yet powerful line, and something you said in a different video - I think it was about how to enjoy fall - still sticks with me to this day, about how the end of summer felt a permanent ending to you each year, not (only) because of the change of seasons but because of where you were at in your personal life as well. That really hit home to me, because I'm very much the same. All that to say, thank you for creating this space, and I hope you'll write a book someday because so many of the things you say are just beautifully worded, and they wouldn't look out of place next to those aesthetic book quote posts on Pinterest lol. I appreciate you!

Love this video and totally get the need to have separate channels for different passions…but I don’t know if I would call it self censoring - and I’m thinking from a marketing perspective…it’s, I think, more segmentation. I don’t see you censoring because you do actually talk about the other channels…having different channels, I think is just different sides of the whole Candy brand…the holistic you is a crone age, tarot slinging, gardening/nature hikes/ art witch who also weaves dolls into her practice. I rarely talk about my doll channel on my witchy channel and vice versa but I’m cool with that. At one point I’d hoped to monetize a channel and make a little scratch on the side but I have come to terms with the fact that I’d rather not constantly try to appease the algorithm and, instead, make friends and community and basically just nerd out on what we dig together. Kwim? I think you are so talented Candy and love all your content. Sending all the love and joy I’ve got!

Funnily enough I’m a former teacher as well, I was an Early Childhood teacher (I worked with 0-5 year olds) I did have to give that up, due to my anxiety impacting my work. I agree with you, I love the longer form content too, I believe the short form content has become a bit mind numbing to be honest. I’m actually in the development phase of creating a Children’s Story time RUclips channel, sharing amazing picture story books with children, because I have been in love with stories and books since I was little and I am passionate about sharing stories with children. What’s your advice for someone starting a RUclips channel? I love your channels both this one and your doll channel, I just think you’re an inspirational person and you are such a magical person. You’re absolutely right, it’s important to be authentic to yourself and follow your instincts.
Hey Jennifer … I was key stage 1 so 5-7 year olds but have also taught every age all the way to teenagers in art workshops so we are kindred right there. Advice for your wonderful RUclips channel which sounds amazing. Erm I think don’t panic about not knowing it all straight away re film making. For me I just tried to learn one new thing every few weeks. I only use my iPhone and iMovie so have nothing fancy but I think if you don’t have that it’s fine just play with iMovie or any software you have till you feel you know it inside out. Just start, film with the knowledge nothing needs to go public till you are ok with it… that takes pressure off. Be the channel you want to watch that’s a great guide for content. And this one is hard but do not get hung up on numbers which are really tough at the beginning when you feel you are speaking to a void for months. View it as a visual diary for you all the time and then that takes off any sadness about how slow traction is on RUclips . And have fun. Mostly it has to be fun! Work out if you actually like making videos …. If you don’t RUclips is slow and hard, but if like me you find you adore making videos then you will do it regardless of all the pitfalls ❤️❤️ hope that helps ask for anything specific if I didn’t hit it ❤️❤️

I don't think it is self sensoring to have different channels for different topics. It is organisation and logic. If I decide to put other pictures than dolls on Flickr, I will open another account because it is 2 completely different things. Some people do that. It is logical. One photographer has 2 Flickr accounts, one for black and white and one for colour. Why not?! 😁
Loving your thoughts and thoroughly enjoyed this video. Im so glad i started pre internet, but i absolutely love witchy content. For me social media in utube, pinterst and FB are part of the research with books witchy and non witchy. Are there fakes yep but you weed them out. Its a pity that content is censored by social.media and views. I love the social aspect of media as im a private solo practitioner. But its also escapism. I watch that instead of a movie to unwind. I learn , i get inspiration. My practise hasnt changed except im less secretive now.

I have never heard anybody use the word crone all these years I have been living in the UK. I went to check the meaning... it is totally non appropriate to describe you and it is really an ugly word too.
Really …..ooo now I want to check the meaning. For me it just means not a girl or a younger woman in the age of having babies, it’s a woman who is older. But I’ll go check it out and consider it all ❤️❤️❤️
Thinking about it, I think it is not only the word itself that is ugly but also the implication of a woman who is too old and most of all too old to have children. I did not read this when I checked the meaning but you said it was the meaning. How awful! What does it say about women? Do we have word for men who are too old to have children and can't "perform" anymore?! I really don't like this word and I think it is somehow putting yourself down if you use it for yourself.
@@darklight4251 no I don’t think it’s meant to reflect the fact they can’t have children it’s the time of life that it’s referring too. That time when a woman steps into a different place. That place is a woman’s reality as they age and I don’t think that’s a bad thing. I always saw the word crone as embracing the wisdom and freedom of that place, declaring that a woman isn’t done as much as society wants to make them think they are.well that’s how I’ve felt it’s used in the witchcraft community anyway. People may differ on that I’m sure ❤️
oh I so agree with you on short and long form content. I used to be part of an alternative mothering community, message boards, and when it collapsed, a lot of us went to livejournal. so there we were writing long, fairly intimate posts and really keeping up with each others' interior lives. when there became concern over russian ownership of livejournal with respect to the russian government's attitude to LGBTQ people, most of us left livejournal and just stayed connected on facebook/instagram - and it's definitely come with a lot of loss of depth. and yes, the shorts are a time suck, for sure. I might spend an hour watching a long form video vs an hour of shorts and it's like eating a meal vs. mindless snacking. your expectations for a short are low, you usually just hope to be amused, and it's so easy to just keep going and keep going and keep going and then you're late for bed.

To be honest, I watch this channel because of your dolls channel and because I like tarot cards and
I want to go back into tarot reading. I am not even a big tarot decks collector. I don't have that many decks and most of them I had for years. I know nothing about Wicca or anything witchy. I just like to listen to you because you have a lovely voice and a charming personality. It is very relaxing to listen to you. I guess I should not comment on that type of videos because it is not something I know anything about. I should stick to dolls!!

Candy, I love this "find someone whose melody you want to listen to" ❤✨ I agree we can only talk about our own experience but comparison is always dangerous and a thief of joy. We must be responsible for ourselves and do our shadow work. I also 💯 percent agree about how the most precious, powerful and the majority of practice can only really be learnt experientially. And yesssss so hard to put into words. I've been reflecting on this a lot in last year how so much of what I actually do isn't transferable at all to video because witchcraft and spirituality is a lot of experiential and felt work. ❤ And yesssss u explained it so well about how pg isn't just making stuff up with the Tarot and astrology analogy. Exactly - Studying traditions and paradigms and history is important as is fact checking but ultimately the witch has their own path and must follow their intuition. Thank u for sharing lovely 😉 🙏 Xx ooh and your art witch videos and your traveling tarot and mysteries videos where ur out and about are literally my very favourite kinds of videos to watch on YT! There is so much to comment on with your responses to this tag. First I want to say I subscribe to both of your channels and always look forward to what you want to share. I have also enjoyed your art videos including the ones where you engage in visual and spoken poetry. With this video, I do like how you offer such a clear understanding and respect regarding teaching. Your honesty is refreshing. I especially like how honest you are about saying, you don't have a channel to learn, but to share your experiences and to offer support and new ideas (like connecting your dolls to your spiritual practice!). I also found your ideas on "emotional grifting" very interesting, and would love to see a full video from you on that. As you were describing it, I realized I do follow some RUclips channels that engage in emotional grifting especially when it comes to taking the moral high ground. An individual may say, "This is what I do . . ." and the inference is, "what I do is more authentic, more meaningful, etc. It is what you said--making comparisons and creating polarization. I believe your work on RUclips matters and I believe it all comes from an honest, authentic, and creative place.

You are hands down one of my favorite channels - even outside of tarotube. I really enjoy hearing your thoughts and I find myself agreeing with them far more often than not. Plus, you have such a way with words?
"You choose where your feet tread" is such a simple yet powerful line, and something you said in a different video - I think it was about how to enjoy fall - still sticks with me to this day, about how the end of summer felt a permanent ending to you each year, not (only) because of the change of seasons but because of where you were at in your personal life as well. That really hit home to me, because I'm very much the same.
All that to say, thank you for creating this space, and I hope you'll write a book someday because so many of the things you say are just beautifully worded, and they wouldn't look out of place next to those aesthetic book quote posts on Pinterest lol.

Love this video and totally get the need to have separate channels for different passions…but I don’t know if I would call it self censoring - and I’m thinking from a marketing perspective…it’s, I think, more segmentation. I don’t see you censoring because you do actually talk about the other channels…having different channels, I think is just different sides of the whole Candy brand…the holistic you is a crone age, tarot slinging, gardening/nature hikes/ art witch who also weaves dolls into her practice. I rarely talk about my doll channel on my witchy channel and vice versa but I’m cool with that. At one point I’d hoped to monetize a channel and make a little scratch on the side but I have come to terms with the fact that I’d rather not constantly try to appease the algorithm and, instead, make friends and community and basically just nerd out on what we dig together. Kwim? I think you are so talented Candy and love all your content. Sending all the love and joy I’ve got!

Hey Candy, such a lovely video. Funnily enough I’m a former teacher as well, I was an Early Childhood teacher (I worked with 0-5 year olds) I did have to give that up, due to my anxiety impacting my work. I agree with you, I love the longer form content too, I believe the short form content has become a bit mind numbing to be honest. I’m actually in the development phase of creating a Children’s Story time RUclips channel, sharing amazing picture story books with children, because I have been in love with stories and books since I was little and I am passionate about sharing stories with children. What’s your advice for someone starting a RUclips channel? I love your channels both this one and your doll channel, I just think you’re an inspirational person and you are such a magical person. You’re absolutely right, it’s important to be authentic to yourself and follow your instincts.
Hey Jennifer … I was key stage 1 so 5-7 year olds but have also taught every age all the way to teenagers in art workshops so we are kindred right there. Advice for your wonderful RUclips channel which sounds amazing. Erm I think don’t panic about not knowing it all straight away re film making. For me I just tried to learn one new thing every few weeks. I only use my iPhone and iMovie so have nothing fancy but I think if you don’t have that it’s fine just play with iMovie or any software you have till you feel you know it inside out. Just start, film with the knowledge nothing needs to go public till you are ok with it… that takes pressure off. Be the channel you want to watch that’s a great guide for content. And this one is hard but do not get hung up on numbers which are really tough at the beginning when you feel you are speaking to a void for months. View it as a visual diary for you all the time and then that takes off any sadness about how slow traction is on RUclips . And have fun. Mostly it has to be fun! Work out if you actually like making videos …. If you don’t RUclips is slow and hard, but if like me you find you adore making videos then you will do it regardless of all the pitfalls ❤️❤️ hope that helps ask for anything specific if I didn’t hit it ❤️❤️

I don't think it is self sensoring to have different channels for different topics. It is organisation and logic. If I decide to put other pictures than dolls on Flickr, I will open another account because it is 2 completely different things. Some people do that. It is logical. One photographer has 2 Flickr accounts, one for black and white and one for colour. Why not?! 😁

Loving your thoughts and thoroughly enjoyed this video. Im so glad i started pre internet, but i absolutely love witchy content. For me social media in utube, pinterst and FB are part of the research with books witchy and non witchy. Are there fakes yep but you weed them out. Its a pity that content is censored by social.media and views. I love the social aspect of media as im a private solo practitioner. But its also escapism. I watch that instead of a movie to unwind. I learn , i get inspiration. My practise hasnt changed except im less secretive now.

That place is a woman’s reality as they age and I don’t think that’s a bad thing. I always saw the word crone as embracing the wisdom and freedom of that place, declaring that a woman isn’t done as much as society wants to make them think they are.well that’s how I’ve felt it’s used in the witchcraft community anyway. People may differ on that I’m sure ❤️

oh I so agree with you on short and long form content. I used to be part of an alternative mothering community, message boards, and when it collapsed, a lot of us went to livejournal. so there we were writing long, fairly intimate posts and really keeping up with each others' interior lives. when there became concern over russian ownership of livejournal with respect to the russian government's attitude to LGBTQ people, most of us left livejournal and just stayed connected on facebook/instagram - and it's definitely come with a lot of loss of depth.
and yes, the shorts are a time suck, for sure. I might spend an hour watching a long form video vs an hour of shorts and it's like eating a meal vs. mindless snacking. your expectations for a short are low, you usually just hope to be amused, and it's so easy to just keep going and keep going and keep going and then you're late for bed.
Honestly it puts me into a trance shorts. I’ve lost hours in the past before I come out ❤️
