But a great story! These forgotten crime stories are my favorites on the channel. I can’t imagine the effort that goes into finding and researching these stories. And we can SEE the effort Leo makes in bringing us to the locations and graves. I really appreciate everything y’all do in giving these stories new light.
So, Melvin was my great grandfather. The stone you featured in this video was actually made by my dad over 40 years ago.
Oh wow thats incredible
I love you sharing history with us❤
I really love what you said about our stories being finished. Heather, i envy and appreciate your editing and research talents! I'm trying to figure out how to become a patreon when i can't remember my password, lol! I've got to get my daughter to come over and help me! 😂❤
I love the way you and Heather tell the stories of people from the past. It’s a reminder of lives before us❤️
Very strange circumstances but, such a tragic ending
My hometown of Logan. Thank you for doing this story. I never knew or heard about this.
My whole family is from Logan but I never heard of this case. Mamie Thurman is the one we all know
Thanks Leo and Heather for another compelling story. Miss hearing Heather narrate occasionally
Heather is awesome! So are you Leo. There are lots of history/cemetery channels but nobody does it like you guys do. I definitely don't see any where they climb mountains through brush and briars, rain or shine, searching for that one grave that time forgot. You guys are the best.
I love the way you tell the story Leo, thanks for giving them a small voice and keeping there story up front. Thanks to Leo wife and all she does, in remembrance of these people. Thank you both for all you do, history is so important, I love history thanks you both so much, blessings to you both.
You are so welcome
You are a gifted story teller.... and such wonderful tributes you pay to those who have passed on thank you
It has been so long now it's likely only God knows what happened with and to those people. Thank you, Heather for all the work you do in research and editing The Hillbilly Files!
You are so welcome
At 8:50 there was a voice that came over the top of Leo's voice that said hi a womans voice. Might be worthwhile to take a sprit box up there.just a second before he seen Melvin's grave. You might have come across something. Good work and thank you for sharing
Yes! a spirit box!! Heather ghost hunter group!
Interesting!
That was Leo himself saying ha! Cause he saw melvins stone
i could listen to your stories all day long thanks so much again you and the Mrs have a very MERRY CHRISTMAS : )

Never heard of Todd lol, and thanks
Check him out. He does a lot in west Virginia Virginia NC and around there. He metal detects old home sites and tells the history of the people who lived there.
Another interesting and sad story - hope they know u r remembering them and sharing their stories - great work Leo and Heather 🥂
Wow, Leo, great story but hate that we don't know what happened. I think your thoughts on this story are correct. Something happened and it seems it may be a relationship . Thanks Leo for a wonderful presentation .Heather, I listen to Leo and my mind starts thinking what Heathrr has done to unfold this information for your viewers! Thanks to you both!

Hello to my favorite Hillbilly! 😎
Hello there!
Well told Leo and great research Heather. Love this channel. Keep up the good work and thanks for sharing.
Thanks so much!
I'm so glad my families burial plot in Floyd county KY, doesn't look like that. It's so sad
I sure know Pecks Mill, Leo! It was a rough and tough area at that time. Suzy
Moonshine!
Hi Suzy! It does seem like everybody had a still hidden somewhere back then... lol
@@thehillbillyfiles, especially those Baisden’s! I grew up with the Sarah Ann Baisden’s.
Love what you and your wife 💛 do keep up the great work.😊
Thank you! Will do!
Lulu seems to have been the true target. I’m not sure I think this involves a romantic connection gone wrong. I do wonder if it’s somehow connected to her husband’s death in some way. You’d have to know more of the background story there and background of these three to know, I guess. But it does seem like this would definitely have been solvable at the time. And actually, maybe even still today. There have to still be people alive who know about the case. Maybe even some who were children at the time who heard things from the adults. You never know.
In grease stencil style - Melvin
When you find a section with the same last name as you're looking for check the back of the stones. I've seen it done where someone is buried in a family members, friends ,or strangers plot but their name is listed on the back of the stone while the owner's name is on the front.
Hello Leo and Heather
You need a Sawzall( Harbor Freight tools)
What puzzles me a bit is the death of the third person outside.
I have never heard or read of anyone who committed.....by shooting himself in between the eyes. It doesn't happen that way.
There was either a fourth person, or the guy on the bed with the temple gunshot wound killed the other two and commited....afterwards.
That is my take on it....😊
Sniff sniff,I smell corruption, that's with alot of police depts then and today, leo does the foot work and Heather gets the research done, great team guys!
Y'all made a great video here thanks for telling the story and I know I have seen what Hether dose frind all tjhe death certificate's and putting them in Y'all storys that is why I love watching your guys Chanel Have a Great day Y'all
It shows it is around Bluefield. I'm sure you have found the map for it, you do a great job at finding these places. Google map pin points it off Alpine Rd
Yes that's a different Taylor cemetery, it's two hours away
Nice presentation,Leo;nice research,Heather. This one is a head scratcher.Maybe it will be resolved but with the passage of 71+ years it's not promising, imo.
Very sad...
I think your conclusion is probably right. Melvin was 72 maybe figures he lived long enough and she wasn't going to be with him so he'd go out with a bang, pun intended. Lots of these kind of cases around here where I live in Kansas too.
❤❤😊
It sounds like the neighbor done it
I am kin to the Hatfields and the McCoy! I have grandparents that were McCoys, but the Hatfields are just my cousin.
Sounds like a Murder/Suicide...Irving and Lulu were discovered together...the old man wa probably infatuated with her and took the matter to the next level...
It was said that Irving had been found outside as if he were trying to "run away"...the young lady was shot three times (!) in the head...this shows an ANGER issue....
The old man then took his own life...(he WAS found with a rifle beside him on the bed...)
Sad story....
Hi Heather and Leo. Do you know where this cabin was located at Pecks Mill? I grew up at Pecks Mill and do not recall this event. My friend and I are so fascinated that wedding like to ask other family members if they might have heard other information to add to the story. Thanks.
Someone knows who was the suspect who was he related too who were the victims involved with great story
❤
I did a cemetery search for Taylor Cemetery West Virginia and someone has been photographing it. 59%. There isn't one for Lulu but there are some schoolcrafts.
Irving is at earling cemetery, in pecks mill, Can you link me this Taylor cemetery, because I dont see any, thanks, or send it to hillbillyfiles@hotmail.com =)
@@thehillbillyfiles most of the Schoolcraft family live in the Man, WV, area. There is a cemetery at Earling, WV, or there was one there. Most of my late dad’s family are from the Earling area.
i have cousin distant eliza r chastain who was m to levi d dotson some reason her brother who went by nick name of toby after he got out of prison in 1898 for doing 10 years came over and shot his brother in law 3 times point blank range i was curious to why so i asked a gilmer co ga libraian about she was like think over there ferry moonshine business i cant be sure to know levi d dotson tried to slit his brother in law throat open in 1887
What cemetery is Baisden buried in? I did not hear you mention the name.
It was at the beginning in text,, hes in Baisden Cemetery in Shegon wv
Which website is the BEST for researching death certificates? Any suggestions?
Actually depends , ancestry has Kentucky but not WV, my heritage has WV not Kentucky, that's really all the states I research normally
👍🇺🇸
Hello, Leo, how, old was, Lucinda, when she, was killed?
24
my aunt is a schoolcraft by marriage
Could of been a mob hit
How did she shoot herself 3 times, not likely. ❤❤❤
Not in a triangle....
