    Belgrade was always a center of the Balkans and the reason of 100 of wars, completely destroyd more than 43 times but every time rebilled and stood proud. The city where all good and respectful people are always welcome. And about the Mc Donald's, in Serbia was the first in all est Europe, opened in 1981, 10 years before all others. Glad that you and your wife had good time in my home town and hope you come back, all the best to you and your family

    Kinda’ fun to hear you guys amazed with the fact original brands and shopping exists in Belgrade and Serbia 😅. Belgrade alone has around 15 large shopping malls with more international brands than one can find in many western countries. Other than that Belgrade is such a lively and vibrant city with so much to see, taste and experience. Also a city that is growing in size and popularity every year, with notably more and more tourists discovering it. It’s a hidden gem of Europe, which only remains hidden due to the fact that people have prejudices about the place which are, needless to say, completely wrong. Regardless, I enjoyed your video and hope that you’re enjoying the city as much as I did, when I visited it a few years back.

    I know what you mean, the food on offer in restaurants can be a bit repetative in all Balkan countries. Serbs definitely love and know how to grill meat, but the best traditional dishes are actually made at home. Unfortunately, not many restaurants offer them on their menus. Dishes like: sarma, podvarak, slatki kupus, pasulj/bean stew, punjena paprika, goulash, paprikash, boranija, djuvec, muckalica, pilav, cufte u sosu, kolaci, torte, krofne, gomboce, gibanica, etc, are a real treat.

    Zdravo Jay and Sarah! Love your videos ❤and hope to watch all of them. As an American, married to a Serbian woman and living in Serbia now for 4 years, it's great to see your impressions of this beautiful country. Belgrade is great, but I hope you can get out of Belgrade a little and see the "real" Serbia.
    I doubt most Serbs would consider their country to be richer economically than Croatia or Slovenia.
    As far as Serbia being more expensive than the coastal/tourist areas of Montenegro, we have found the opposite. But maybe Belgrade, as it's known to be considerably more expensive than the rest of Serbia.
    Glad you found some "back home" food, but hope you will experience some traditional Serbian food like sarma, punjene paprike, pasulj, and of course--for meat lovers--pecenija and rostilj which is everywhere.
    Looking forward to more videos!

      The scope of the video is simply about what we get up to in our daily lives as full time nomadic travellers.

    Should have gone to San Fran if you wanted to eat Chinese food.🙄🤔

    • @JayandSarah
      @JayandSarah  2 месяца назад +1

      Why? Chinese food is available all over the world. The problem that exists in most of the balkans, is there is very good food variety. If you stay there long enough, you get completely sick and tired of eating their traditional food. Belgrade at least has some of these alternate options. We have lived in a place of the world that has every imaginable cuisine available. Moving to places that doesn't, means you seek out these things when you can. Cheers, thanks for watching.

      Exactly! See we think alike. Glad you enjoyed the video and had a bit of a laugh. I like to make video with observation about things. This is my retirement hobby, to make travel video about our lives. Sometimes ordinary stuff, sometimes not so ordinary.

    only tourists eat mc donald in serbia

      You might think that, but it's actually not true. Our waitress at our local Serbian cafe said many locals go there, and in fact - she confessed to loving the chicken McNuggets.

      We didn't come to Belgrade to eat McDonalds, you are missing the premise of that section of the video. It's not idiotic, it served the purpose of our story living in the Balkans for the last half year. It was lost on you, it appears to have zoomed right over your head while not paying attention to the script. Pay attention to the plot, you might figure it out. Have a nice day, thanks for watching. You sound ignorant.

      There are Russian flags all over Belgrade, even the city legislature has Serbian and Russian flags all around it. There is a strong connection between these two countries historically.
