Andy, that is a very nice pocket knife/cutter and would think some practice is needed. Good to see knife talk along with cigars and that blade looks sharp enough to use as a razor to shave with. Mike
Great review of the les fines cutter mate, they really are a beautiful pice of craftsmanship. I have used a friend’s in the parts and also had a similar issue with the cut. But it’s still a beautiful cutter. And it’s kind of nice to have a cutter that you can imagine still owning in 20 plus years time. I think practice will make perfect.
I have had this cutter for a while now, and it requires a little bit of practise. It is really sharp and beautiful ; and it can also be used as a knife, actually. The name "les fines lames" refers to French king Louis 13th 3 musqueteers in Alexandre Dumas's novel : "The There Musqueteers", hence the 3 swords on the blade of the knife. At that time, being referred to as a "fine lame" meant that you were an excellent swordman. By the way, the brand name Montecristo also comes from one of Alexandre Dumas novels, but I am sure you knew that. 😉
Thanks for watching and all the useful information. I didn’t know of the connection between this knife and the Dumas novel but makes sense 👍🏻 Talking about Montecristo and Dumas: yes, that is something I already knew. In fact I was doing an episode about that somewhere last year 😊
I have two of them. Nice accesory but I find myself not using it very often. There are just better cutters out there and the stand ... well, I don't know, most of the time if I don't have the cigar in my hands, it's laying in the ashtray
I’ve seen these in the B&M and on Instagram but for the life of me I can’t see using them in a everyday smoke , but the Cuban map on the blade looks great if I’d get one it would be for decoration only

Thanks, Mike 🙏🏻 Yeah, it’s really sharp, I already felt that 😂

Thank you 🙏🏻 Yeah, it’s really a beautiful tool and I‘m sure with a little bit more practice the cuts will get better

You have to cut it where the Les Fines Lames logo is, don't cut it from the "cuban" side, try It :)
Great video man, love the cigar reviews aswell. Would be fun to see all your different cigar accesories in a video
Thank you 🙏🏻 Good idea with the different accessories, I will think about it 👍🏻
After one year - how's your long term experience? Is it collecting dust or are you using it daily/weekly?
Unfortunately it’s not a thing that I use very often, so for me it wasn’t worth the money
Have you had a chance to try the combo cutter/stand from ST Dupont? Would be curious your thoughts if so.

@@smokersspot Really appreciate it!
Very cool Andy! You just gave me an idea when I get back home. Of course, my mother will more than likely tell me that I’ll cut my fingers off..
Thanks, Chris 🙏🏻 My mom is telling me that for the last four decades but here I go, still all fingers on my hands ... more or less 😂😂

Yeah, it’s a nice gadget, nothing more nothing less. 👍🏻
I think there’s a certain side of the blade your meant to use, but I’m not 100% sure try cutting it from the other side mate 💨
I will give it a try. Thank you 🙏🏻
Exactly! He is using the wrong side
I think you have to cut it on a certain side of the knife check out cigar smoker uk he did a video on it 👍
Thanks, I will give that a try 👍🏻
You’re cutting the cigar the wrong way !
😂😂
I'll just stick to my perfect cutter
Perfect cutter delivers perfect cut 👍🏻😉
Try doing it so the map is facing away from you👍
