There was a young chap at my secondary school who, when he went to see the careers advisor he said he wanted to be a formula 1 racing driver. He was quite insistent about it and the careers advisor told him "If you're not going to take this seriously, you're just wasting my time here. Go away." His name? Johnny Herbert. His mum was also a dinner lady at my Junior school.
Haha, great story. I was always a fan of Herbert. Great comeback story after he almost had his legs amputated after his Brands crash. I remember he was a very popular winner at Silverstone in 1995.
Am just building this kit, I have painted all 5 main body colours, scanned the decals and cut them out on my Cricut Joy. Used Tamiya LP 8 pure yellow for the light yellow, the rest of the colours are from the Zero paint set.
Nice video. The Goodyear decals are dry transfers and look great. Pleased to see something not perfect but to be honest, if we didn’t watch you painting it, wouldn’t notice it. The collection looked nice too.
Great seeing all these lotuses together,it is a bit sad that those colour panel decals were a different shade, but honestly in those finał shots it looks amazing anyways,I for sure need to try and getting one of the early 90s f1s,maybe the FW14 or any MP4,but yeh, amazing build Stu,and Thanks for the questions for my Q&A,video coming out today ;)
Hi, great build despite the decals. I've had fun building all of this range & the 1/12 cars over the years. Will you be doing a build of the Wills Finecast Ferrari? They are challenging but the metal adds something to the 'feel' of the finished item.
They're by Tabu design but I can't remember where I got them, sorry. I think Museum Collection also do a set. Maybe Studio 27 too? Their websites are navigable if you use the translate to English feature in the browser.
Nice work, Stu. The color mismatch and the misaligned decals are not too prominent, but I wonder how you could miss the different color tones? Didn't you compare them with test pieces? That's why I only build armor - if you mess up a paint job, simply chuck some dirt over the whole thing 🙂 Speaking of F1: do you have the Tamiya Wolf WR1 in your stash?
Thanks. No, I didn't do test pieces. The Tamiya yellow is a lot more orange than the pot lid suggests :) I don't have the Wolf - one of the few I don't.
Johnny Herbert signed my F1 program book at the Canadian GP in Montreal but he chicken scratched it so his name is not that legible. Pissed me off but what could I do?
Dearest friend, I'm so sorry; I realise I've been pushy towards You. I offer You my humblest apologies. I've removed my comment, then. I wrote … To tell the truth, I don't really care about cars... For now. Probably, thanks to your valuable works, a burning passion will arise in me later on. I love airplanes and toy soldiers in dioramas. I continue to follow You with great pleasure.

Beautiful build and a fabulous collection too. Really love it
Thank you mate
I love your F1 builds, especially the way you show the pitfalls. Hopefully more to come.
Thank you. Yes, a couple of cheaper (i.e. not 600 USD) resin kits coming up at some point.
Loving the F1 1990s builds, sad to see the end of them but excited to see more from you
Thanks! There's still a lot of 70s and 80s kits for me to do though :)

Thanks. I've got some Zero paints for the B194/195 kits, so I'll get to try those soon
Very nice. I’ve got this one in my stash so it’s great to get a few pointers and “things to look out for” regarding the painting and decaling.
Glad it was useful. Thanks for watching :)
Great build
Thank you Kevin
I was looking at you're lotus Fi pint job that the best I've ever seen 😮
Oh, thank you!

Great collection!
Thank you
The kit looks nice😊
Yep, it was a fun build

Thanks for watching mate. Yes, give the Fujimi FW14 a go!
Nice build Stu, you really don't have too much luck with the decals, you'd think there would be more aftermarket decals for these kits...
Thanks John. These were aftermarket, although I suppose they are at least 10 years old at this point too...
@@ModelNerd Be nice if decals lasted a bit longer Stu...
Great build all the lotus car together isna great pic
Thank you
Looks great!
Thanks

Thank you. Yes, I'll be building the Finecast at some point this year (I hope!)
looks awesome when finished, they really made some beautiful racing cars in the 90's, great job. Where did you get the decals from?

@@ModelNerd cheers for getting back, I have a few of these kits but being so old, the decals have seen better days
Looking good.
Thank you
Good work and a nice group 😎😎.Have you ever built a motorbike?
Thank you. I've never built a bike, although I've seen the Tamiya kits in shops and been tempted...

@@ModelNerd Bummer, would've liked to see that one again. I've built it 43 years ago.
Klasse super von dir ✨️💯👍
Thank you

Oh no! So close but so far! I'd love to go to the Canadian Grand Prix at some point - it's always been one of my favourite circuits.
