    Thanks for this, I can't believe it never occurred to me that I could swap positions in the party. I also saved an all-dead party, whoops. Will start over and hope to make better progress. :)

      It was cool to see you play with a controller. I'm not sure how to do half the stuff with a controller, but it seems like there was a little eye that came up and gave you a bunch of options. It may be that reordering the party was hidden in there somewhere. You can also type N for New order and type out a new orders by renumbering their current order. It's easier just to drag with the mouse though. There's probably an equally-easy way to do it with the controller.

      @@pacbilly I recorded more just now, and the mouse seemed to be the best method. I'm okay with that.

    How come we never used the party attack defend healing bard song? You should have made and watched this video before we started our playthrough so that you would know the tips you were going to give yourself.

      Because I'd forgotten about it completely until I saw someone else refer to it. When I saw it, I smacked myself in the head so hard that I gave myself amnesia and instantly forgot again.

    What a brilliant move to heal with your bard! I think that will be useful right now.

      @pacbilly  2 года назад +1

      I wish I'd remembered that move when I made my first tips video, actually! It wasn't until I read a recent post by someone in a thread about the original game that it all came flooding back to me. I don't think I ever used it in any of my games, but I remember knowing about it and intending to use it myself.

    I love this. Did you consider playing Bards Tale 4? The new one.Its actually really good.

    • @pacbilly
      @pacbilly  2 года назад +1

      The problem with 4 is that they made all the creative decisions I was hoping they wouldn't make. They abandoned the cozier storybook-evocative art style in favor of something edgier. They gave the game a much edgier presentation, with bards taking all these drinks and spewing them back out in combat. They took away some of my favorite classes, tried to shoehorn in some social commentary, turned away from Tolkienian aesthetic sensibilities and made some of the races even look like aliens. It was such a detour in the presentation that it killed everything I liked about the earlier games. I was a backer and I may play it again, but I'll have to divorce myself from the idea that it's a Bard's Tale game.

      I'd love to get back into the second game myself. I was trying to stay caught up to your playthrough to avoid spoilers for a while, but ultimately my interest in the second game dwindled. I love the third game and I love the first game, but I've found the second one to be lacking... something. Still, I want to finish it (which will hopefully give me time to finish my original BT III game on my C64 before tackling that one in the remaster). I may play BT IV but it's too much of an aesthetic left turn. Some of the races look like aliens. It fails to capture the magic. Sure, sure, I'll give it another chance, but I'll be pretending it isn't a Bard's Tale game all the while.

      For example I had no ideas about the 1-7 order lol I had a conjurer at 1 spot and was wondering why my monk in the 5th spot could never attack😂.

    This is an exploit! In the name of all that is just and yoghurt you should make a rule for and against this :
    there is dissent in your party!
    this is realistic
    but now you have low level guys with high levels of irascibility. (i guess, sorry couldn't keep up with your playthrough lately)
    so to all be defending in the first round of dissent is unrealistic
    roll dice for the chars, some may have to attack.
    maybe roll dice to determain if the song soothes the spirits or not too?
    Or you can invent some stories to make the struggle believable - then making music together heals because of any connections that may exist between body & mind.
    this way you can easily exploit your game in a role-playing way, or roll dice yourself and cheat the viewers! I'll send you the dissent soundtrack to use shortly ... **TTWANG**
