@@Oleg_Kol lol I have deviate nitro 2 in the mail. $60 on fit2run. I’ll let you know how those turn out. Almost got the magic speed 3 for $80 today too but I want to try this adios 9 for the speed work block I’m starting tomorrow
Kinavara pro great shoe if you like not to soft , i have 3 pairs 😊 - it's not everyone Cap of tea and defenetly not loved by shoe tubers lol If you liked shift, that one for me is evolution of shift. Endo trainer looks like continuation of kinavara pro , it's basically the same shoe with Pb foam with new one and added some rubber to the outsole
There’s a place at the table for firmer rides for sure. I would lean toward more firm than too soft. That’s why I’m a little apprehensive about the novblast 5. They say bouncy but they also say soft and I don’t want to battle the shoe for my miles
Since I’m not planning on buying any new shoes in 2025, if you could be so kind and claim that they will all be duds next time, that would be great. 🙏🏻
Of course they’re all going to be duds. It just doesn’t make for great or clickable content if I say so. I have to fib a bit for clicks but you’re good to not buy
The Mizuno looks intriguing. The Brooks Hyperion line really works well for me (HM2 is one of my favorite shoes ever) so when they come out, I'll have to see how the increased stack works.
Disagree about the Triumph being mid. 20 & 21 were great - cushioned, comfortable, bouncy, versatile, not too heavy. I haven’t tried the 22 but i understand they went softer, less bouncy, closer to More v4 which is a bummer. Curious what changes they made for the 23. Also, Brooks Ghost stud? Are you kidding? That’s the most mid of all mid trainers. Like going back in time 20 years putting those on.
I bought 2 pairs of Triumph 20 on special on a whim and didn't like them much at first but decided then to give them a proper chance after my marathon and I absolutely love them. They are indeed bouncy and more stable than my Speed 2's (hate the 3's) but then compliment eachother very nicely. I like the way my heel fits so snuggly in the shoe and I can pick up the pace in them as well. The soft midsole makes the drop 10 quite tolerable and they are indeed easy on the legs. A gem of a shoe 👟
Interesting the two first shoe brands are my current rotations in 2024. I have already been speaking with my local shoe shop / provider (I do not do internet shopping unless I can't get a model or Colorway in the UK (noticed I left the U out of colour just you :P). My two rotations for next will be both Saucony and Brooks as they were this year. I suspect given the profile and the outsole that the Saucony endorphin trainer is not a new shoe but a rebrand (Kinvara pro 2 ) , fixing a naming mistake they made the first time and bringing it where it belongs as a member the current endorphin family. I did the Kinvara pro / Saucony elite training for the London marathon last spring and it did the job. No I did not enjoy the Kinvara pro .. but it was a great training tool and allowed me to break 8's / high 7's consistently during training . This in turn made it relatively easy to reproduce in the elite over the 26.2m /46.2k . The geometry and last of the two shoes are similar (well that is my take and it did get me another PR/PB). Sooo my purchases next year be (already saving ) will be the endorphin trainer , endorphin speed5 , endorphin elite2 and then for my other rotation, Brooks Glycerine max, Brooks Hyperion max 3, Brooks Hyperion elite 4PB ..and my import will be the Topo cyclone 03 (loved the 02 so much) to replace my current NB rebel v4 (which replaced the old Topo’s) .. war and peace, sorry mate.
🤣 bring on the sequel. This is great. I think you nailed it with the kinvara pro 2 rebranding. I totally missed that. I’m with you on the speed and the elite v2. I’ll likely try to the ghost and the Hyperion max from Brooks this year to give them another shot. I’ve got the cloud eclipse coming and if that’s soft enough for recovery I will hold off on the glycerin max, which I just heard was Believe in the Runs best max cushion for this year. I might also give Topo a whack. I’ve wanted to try the cyclone after kofuzi reviewed it but it was out of stock and then never on sale. Apparently everyone is on to it and it’s as delicious as a biscuit (altered from cookie just for you) 🤣 sometime I say SHEDulle instead of schedule because it’s way more fun that way
Keep your mind open on Endorphin Trainer. V1 is not always dud. In fact, Speed 1/2 were better than Speed 3/4. I hope Speed 5 is going back toward Speed 1/2. I still would pass on Brooks Ghost 17. Even with the update there are better options. Brooks Hyperion 3 is going to be like Hyperion Max 1. While Hyperion Max 3 seems to be elevated to Super Trainer category especially with a layer of DNA Gold (PEBA) foam. I would be thumbs up for Hyperion 3 and Hyperion Max 3. Finally, Hyperion Elite 4 PB is going to elite level. It will be available Jan while Elite 5 is coming up in June/July. I think it will be a good shoe as well. I agree with Mach X3. I ran in X2 and it is great bouncy shoe but heel slip was noticeable. X3 is basically an upper update fixing the heel counter. The bounce was reminiscent of Speed 1/2 type of bounce. I think it is a worthy update. I put my feet in Cielo X1 2.0. I like the update, it lost weight and upper is better but probably not an Alphafly level shoe. For me still a training shoe. From Nike Vomero 18 is looking is pretty interesting. I am a pass on Pegasus Premium. At that price, I don't think you are getting enough value. It is very heavy shoe. I am a pass on Adidas SuperNova Rise 2. However, Adios Pro 4 is a good shoe. I tested a demo version and it is far more bouncy than AP3. But shoe runs a bit short. Size up 1/2. Also I am very excited for Adios 9 for speed work. In fact, more so than EVO SL.
Thanks for the heads up on all of these options. I hate having to send a shoe back for the wrong sizing - well, strongly dislike it. I heard the BITR review of the Pegasus premium today. It is def a tough sale. $230 after taxes for something that’s not a super shoe - when you can pay 20 -40 more for an elite premium racer.
Hmmm… there are some V1s that were better than succeeding versions IMHO, NB SC Trainer v1, Saucony Endorphin Speed v1, Adidas PrimeX v1, Superblast v1, etc…oh, and the Hoka Clifton v1.
Showing up with the receipts!! I agree with all of the shoes you mentioned that I have tried. I’m still chasing that sc trainer v1 feeling and the speed 1. Great point
I am curious to see the Saucony Endorphin trainer. It looks like a competitor to plated max shoes like New Balance SC trainer and Brooks Hyperion Max 2. I am 6'6" and a "heavy" runner at 200+lbs, so I need Max stacked shoes. I currently run in the Brooks Glycerin Max for easy recovery runs, the Hyperion Max 2 for tempo, the Asics Novablast for daily training, and Superblast for long runs.
I couldn't agree with you more about shoes being too soft. I got the New Balance 1080 v13 and donated them after a few months, because it felt like I was running on 4 inches of memory foam.
As we preordered the Endorphin Trainer I was super surprised... the Kinvara pro wasnt the best, its okay but boring and massively overpriced... the Endorphin Trainer was really really amazing! Stable, soft, responsive... but still very clunky and heavy.
Ahh man!! Upcoming super shoes. I have 1 pair of daily trainers and about 10 different race shoes 😂. When that sale drops and I see another super shoe that’s way cheaper than a daily trainer I just get sucked in.. then I look at my shoe shelf when I want to go on an easy daily run and I’m stuck with the same old boring daily trainer. Daily trainers are too expensive!!
@@owenearl9121 this!!! 🎯 I just got a pair of puma deviate nitro 2 for $60. I think daily trainers need to go on sale for that 60-80 dollar range more often. I have almost a 1:1 with super shoes and trainers.
The Tempo is no longer the Hyperion (3). The Tempo is what was originally called the Hyperion Tempo. If you’re talking about the Hyperion 3, a fellow fan of the Hyperion 2 (which is one of my favorite shoes of all time) is a tester for the 3 and is raving about it as his favorite shoe of all time. I think you might not want to pass on it. It’s likely to be better than the Ghost if you have to eliminate something else. At least try it on at a store! The Hyperion hits the sweet spot between the Tempo and more cushioned shoes in the line. It’s fantastic as a trainer but great for speedwork and at the same time, up for long runs at all paces.
I think the hyperion elite is just bad marketing. You can get an older version for like $100. It lasts forever and is a great cheap plated shoe for long runs. I don't even try to use it for speedwork or workouts. Just basic long run shoe.
Looking forward to trying Brooks Peba foam!
Me too!
Let me know how it goes ! “I ran in the Brooks Super Shoe so Midlife Runner wouldn’t have to”
But the endorphin trainer is essentially Kinvara Pro 2. Even the outsole is the same- just foam upgrade. And name change
Yeah I whiffed on that. I’m going to say dud for kinvara 2.0/endorphin trainer
I’m looking forward to your 2025 shoe reviews so I can get them on sale in 2026😅

The Saucony Speed, the Novablast, and the MagMax would like a word with your reasoning.
that elite v2 looks incredible. one my meta speed sky paris is done ill probably pick it up

If you’re anything like me, not planning to buy and not actually buying is a radically different thing. Good luck to your budget (and mine)!
Since I will not have the same willpower as you, I would also like to see all 2025 shoes be labeled as duds 😂
Now I'm excited about the Speed returning its roots! I hate the bloody S shaped plate in the 3. How are you feeling these days?
Yeah wasn’t a huge fan of the 3. I’m feeling good . I’m back! Took about 7 weeks but feeling ready to build it back up
@MidLifeRunner Good News!
Kinva pro is such a dope long run shoe. Yall are sleeping on it! Endorphin trainer is just kinvara pro 2
I keep an open mind ! Will have to give it a swing
