Love your videos, I've learnt a lot from your outlook on life when it comes to food. I hope to be completely self sufficient one day, but for now I will learn as much as I can.
I live in North East Thailand and know these problems too well. I am surrounded by dusty farms and farmers deep in debt. I don't farm as I am retired early here but I am busy making composts and my own top soil for the large garden.
If you add Charcoal, like in your water filters, to your soil it will help a lot. It's called biochar. It holds water, it holds nitrogen from the rain water(fertilizer) and it stays in the soil forever.
Yes, good idea. There are some studys pricing that in Sandy soil the effect of biochar is the biggest. Its like recreating Terra preta of the rainforest.
The process of making Charcoals is destructive.. and polluting the environment.. hmmm Just digging it deep and planting fruit trees the old leaves will drop and create natural compost and yes the ecosystem is complete... just add water..💧🌧

In Australia we have Peter Andrews who wrote 2 books- Back from the Brink and Beyond the Brink..he uses his own farm to experiment his ideas in turning degraded dry land into a green oasis....
The watershed in this area still has a chance to re-charge the water table. Berm up & gradually allow water to soak in on slope. Grow moringa, pear, cassava on swale contours. Grow peanuts, sweet potatoes, then sugar cane or beets. Better still grow stivia plants, star anise, clove, all used as cover crops & food.
Grow hemp. Use the snail shells to make calcium, then into lime. Make hempcrete for home insulation. Fire & moisture proof, also absorbs a ton of Co2 from atmosphere.
Hello my brother, how are you I am very happy with this video but on the other hand I am also concerned about the condition of our brothers and sisters, farmers there who have minimal water, hopefully in the future the water will run smoothly, agriculture will run smoothly, everyone is given health for all who may be present here Greetings from Indonesian Farmers Success always for all..
Coconut coir cut into 1cm in length. Then mix with soil, it is good to hold moisture. Hand auger drill at least a foot deep hole, and put in some cut coconut husk before fill in mixture of cut coconut coir with soil. This method good for okra, since then I didn't water my okra plants. The land is laterite soil.
My village is in desert in Rajasthan, India. The soil is very sandy. Can I still dig a pond here? Won't it seep in the ground or evaporate in the summer heat?

Nice thanks for the idea, I have Stony soil so was afraid the water won't hold but am going to try making the pond and add charcoal.

It's depend on how much rain you have per year. If you have some rain try to collect all of it with pond or swale.
