I'm in the US and can't eat the mass produced food. I was sick for years with arthritis and diabetes and nerve pain. Now I eat grass fed meats and my own vegetables and I feel younger with no disease. Haven't seen a doctor in years.
Jon I am an retired mechanical engineer.love farming. I have less than acre land.I decided not to use mechanical mind. So l collected so for 15 variety of perinal vegetables and planted them.They grow itself in seasons . Rest I learnt from you.

i am retiring in few months from now being a Petrochemical Plant worker.....i invested also Farm Lots which i develop as a Natural Farm where i did not apply any conventional method of fertilizing...i leave my Farm coExist with grasses and shrubs and sometimes doing weeding activities for my Fruit Trees to thrive...thanks for your Vlog...i learn a lot from you...i am from Philippines working here in Middle East...
The sad thing is that laws have already been put by many tending governments so you NEED to get into that destructive system; for example, by saying you cannot grow commercially, unless you buy certain "certified" seeds, and forbidding the local exchange of seeds between nearby farmers. (Just one example) People need to start opening their eyes ASAP
Yes, people also need to look into their own status, check things like legal strawman, legal vs lawful, person vs living man/woman. Once you have corrected your status, you can declare your home, your car and your land to be part of your Embassy and therefore untouchable to the authorities. There are other ways to protect yourself as well.
What you're saying works in places like Thailand, etc, but not in places like Canada, where the climate is very hostile (cold), and no one can afford to buy land anymore. Farmers are gradually quitting and selling off their land to large companies. Sad but true.

Same with farmers in tbe developed world all over the world. Farmers should stop churning out commodities, thoughtfully pause and start thinking smaller inputs, lower yields and adding value to their crops by tourism, education, developing food products. There is a huge demand for products like this that support local farms and are made with care and respect to the environment and local population.

There are very few farmers left in the US. They are now agribusiness men. A commercial dairyman never touches a cow. He sits in an office and hires the labor. Small farmers are forced out of farming.
I don't think farming and millionare was meant to go together. Megafarm, million acre .. Factory farm... Something wrong. The big loan. Big debt loose family land. Firtilizer food not best for people.
There is a saying in farming - how to make a millions dollars - start with 10 (million). Its a noble tradition but its a mugs game - everything is out to get you sadly.
I had a stay in hospital a few years ago. A brand new hospital. With rooms that had a view of the ocean. Yet no windows would open to breath the fresh sea air. Completely controlled air flow and temperature. Why are we teaching our children to move to a completely controlled environment. What person in their right mind would ever trust a small group of people to provide the air we breath in a compound on another planet or on earth ???? Nature looks after the needs of the planet earth , we need to respect that . Humans must stop destroying everything.

I have SOMETHING IN MIND that uses high tech yet cheap. It has to be FARMER MADE FOR FARMER, big trucks like this is not a farmer design. But at the same time farmer cannot think out of the box since they are not full fledged in arts, mechanical and electronics.
Farming for self sufficiency is the future, not commercial farming where the prices are set by the supermarket chains and wholesalers. Average age of farmer in the USA is about 60 years old. I live in Thailand and like the west the people do not want to do physical work, they just want to look at their smart phone all day. I often need people to help farm but no young come to work, only the old (plus 50 years old) so one has to buy machinery.

My son grew up with me but his life belong to him. Now he is exploring the world . I respect him as I respect myselfe. He can explore anything that he want. He maybe have better thinking than me. I don't think I can force him to live like me . The world is changing fast what I think it is good now but when my son grow up that thing may not good any more. *Almost all US farmers have huge peices of land* ... like hundreds of acres. It's impossible to farm big size farms without machines. They also need bigger storage areas. But the soil quality is also lower than tropical rainfall countries like Thailand and India. Very few areas of US have temperatures above 25C degrees year round. Agriculture needs above 25C degrees temperature 12 mths every year. Agriculture is difficult in nonTropical countries. Cattle breeding is better than Agriculture in countries having temperatures below 25C degrees.

Climate is affected by weather, weather is affected by microclimates -- plant microclimates and soil structure can help to retain water that would otherwise be evaporated, leading to more plant cover and so on. If people keep farming in ways that destroy the soil (reminder: plants and fungi literally created the soil and their own biomes, on their own) Earth will look like Mars.
As others said, the main reason why is because the soil fertility is being killed off. Historically, the soils were rich, especially the black soils of the Great Plains. Startup cost in a temperate climate is definitely higher than a tropical one though, since you have cold winters, and have to preserve food for that time (winter crops are quite limited).
I think, to cut off the the cost of farming technologies more open source hardware designs and renewable powered machines can be used. AS they do in Open Source Ecology. Eliminating farming techs can only led us to more hunger and more chaos.

Nah, Nature has a way to regrow if left untouched/minimal intervention. My mango and guava trees produces atleast equal to 10 trees just by watering. Manure by decomposing of their own leaves.

In Spain some farmers still use mules. Some use machines. When I asked a farmer if he would like to swap his 2 mules for a tractor, he said, no way!

Farmers should take a crop holiday for a yr to help themselves,mainly in INDIA.
