Just used the new line a while ago and met an adorable British couple struggling to use the map lolz Helped them out and by the looks on their faces I guess I made their day :)
That's good of you. When my friend and I were very obviously lost, standing on that platform of the metro, a very smart Egyptian man shouted to us from the other side pointing to where we needed to go. He was right but I don't know how he knew where we were going 😂 but we were very grateful.
Your videos are great. Videos I am super interested in you making are a top restaurants in Cairo, a whirling dervish video top ten Islamic and Coptic sites in Cairo maybe a Cairo in five days video. A video on how to do Snefrus 3 pyramids. Your style of video is very useful
Haha, no, but it sounds like it is! I cannot remember the story, but it is named after the mosque that is there, and I cannot remember how the mosque got its name.
We will be in Egypt during Ramadan. Can children eat or drink water in public during the fast? Ramadan and Easter will overlap this year. Do the Copts do anything for Easter? Thanks
Coptic Christian People celebrate Orthodox Easter, but I am not exactly sure what that celebration entails. Does anyone know? Anyone can eat and drink as much as they want during Ramadan anywhere in Egypt. Sometimes some restaurants are closed during the day, but in large cities like Cairo, Luxor, Alexandria, etc., there will be plenty of opportunities to eat and drink. I always eat and drink as normal during Ramadan, and just try to be respectful (I don't say to my Muslim friends who are fasting "I bet you are thirsty" as I drink water, for example). If you are not Muslim and you are not fasting, there is no need to change your behavior when it comes to eating and drinking. My Egyptian friends who are fasting all the time say that when they see someone who is not fasting, it just strengthens their resolve to fast and their faith :)
This is absolutely fine. I am a Muslim and my little ones still unable to fast and they eat and drink in public too because they are little and cannot stand the fasting hours. I hope that your visit is going well.
This metro line does not go there, and there currently is not public transit there that is easily accessible to tourists. There is not much to see at the New Capital at this point, so I recommend sticking to the main Cairo areas of downtown and Giza, where there are tons of things to do and see. However, has anyone been out to the New Capital? Is it worth it to go out there?
You could ride bus 356 or 400 or 318 to tahrir and then ride the metro from their to attaba a faster way is by going of the bus when it stops at ramsis then going in the shooda metro then riding 1 stop to attaba but if you never went to cairo before it would be confusing to leave in ramsis instead of leaving in the terminating station
I'm not sure if they accept credit cards--I didn't need to use one as I have a metro card. The metro card can be purchased at major stations (like Sadat, Ramsis, etc.) and I think it's 100 EGP. You can then keep reloading it as much as you want. I love it because then I never have to wait in line to buy a ticket! If you do not speak Arabic, it might be hard to request one, but you can always Google a photo of "Cairo Metro Card" and show them the photo. You can read more here: cairometro.gov.eg/en/bookings/3

There is just one problem with the Metro Station Safa Hagazy... It is no problem to enter the Metro with a camera a big lens or a tripod when you go on the Metro Station Sadat, Nasser or Al Shohada... But it is forbidden to take them with you when you enter Safaa Hagazy to go back to Nasser. If there is the nice Egyptian Securety Woman she maybe will let you pass... but some securities are not letting you pass with those forbidden items. ...Yes, it is absurd..but that is the rule.
Sorry that this happened! Sometimes traveling with these things can be tricky in Egypt. I recommend taking an Uber if this happens (from Safaa Hegazy back to downtown is about $2 USD).
Nice to see country's trying to make things more accessible
I agree!
I discovered Safa Hegazy station by chance, and it was very funny when I learned that it was in Zamalek.😂 Thank you.✨✨
Hahaha I love that story! Yes, I had to ask who she was, and I love that they named the station after a famous female journalist!
Always brightens my day when you post a new video Gus
Awh, thank you, Michael! I'm glad you enjoyed it!
I will be checking out that Green Line 3 to Zamalek station tomorrow. I stay close to Nasser.
Have a great time!
Nice videos! Please, don't erase them never, never.
Thank you!

I discovered this station when I was searching for a restaurant called Zooba :)
Zooba is delicious! I hope you found it ;)
The metro passes by the airport, but it just doesn't reach the airport. What a great design 👏
Yes, I wish it went to the airport 😓
this is a near future plan😊
Four new stops*. Nasser station, Maspero, Safa Hegazy in Zamalek and Kitkat station.
Thank you! 😉

Kit Kat!! Named for my favorite candy bar?

Do you know if tourism to the New Capital is allowed? I would love to visit there on my trip and I believe it’s this metro line that goes there?

Question: is it possible to ride the subway in Cairo with a male? I'm traveling with my adult son and I don't want to be riding in a different car...😬
Hello Mila,
Yes, it is possible to ride in carriages that are not designated for women only.
Thanks Omar!
Is there a service from Cairo Airport to Ataba on the Green Line (3)?
No service from Cairo Airport yet--not sure when this will happen :(

Do the ticket machines accept credit cards? And can you buy a pass card, like with 10 rides?

Does it stop in Alexandria
No this is internal metro for Cairo only . The train goes to Alexandria

Do “women only” mean all women have to use those carriages or is it just for safety if you wish?
