I have been using your meal planning idea and I now have it down to shopping once every six weeks...that includes pet food toiletries and cleaning supplies..I did my big shop two days ago and spent $306.00 for 6 weeks...using pantry freezer and garden to build my menu around. I'm also doing portion control ,having enough to satisfy our appetite but not stuff us...I package "leftovers " as main meals or lunches or I incorporate them into a new dish. I could kick myself for choosing what I want to eat and buying all the ingredients for them rather than working with what was already available. Thank you for the wake up call!
Being an American it is interesting seeing a supermarket in another country. I love your no nonsense videos . Thank you for sharing parts of your life with us.
Thanks for watching
Jane & Mike, thank you once again for a great video. It was very nice that it was filmed in the store, more of this please, really enjoyed it :)
Thank you once again Jane for being a inspiration and giving so many great advice. You truly are my favorite on RUclips regarding frugality, your videos are very practical and informative and I think we are many who feel that you have such good intentions with the content :) Wish you and Mike a lovely weekend from Sweden!
We will! Thanks for watching
Great deals! Love the new puppy pics at the end.
Thanks so much!
Your everyday prices are SO much lower than the USA.
So are our salaries. Average French salary is 1800€ a month
yesterday I bought yogurt which was on sale and then I applied a $1 off coupon on each. This took the yogurt down from $5 per 750 gram container to $1.50. I bought 7 containers. It's a lot but we are a family of 5 and it will get consumed over the next few weeks. I also bought two packages of cheese which was on sale from $7 per 900 grams down to $5. I also applied $1 off coupons. The total for these items would have been $49 if not on sale but with sales and coupons I paid only $18. That's a savings of $31. I refuse to pay full price; ever. I can't understand how people do it without sales and coupons.
I have no idea how people afford anything without coupons or sales.
Basic wheat type bread store brand is about $1.00 to $1.50, But the ones I love are $3 to $4 each. I have never seen the bacon product you showed. I will have to ask next time I am shopping to see if they have something similar. I think you did Awesome on your shopping haul !!
Pancetta?
Hi Jane and Mike, I'm just catching up on watching your video's. Great shop and I must say you have me food for thought. I think here in the UK we have forgotten about buying in and out of season and how much this can effect our budgets. I remember when I was a kid in the 1970s we bought much more by season. With the introduction of freezers into homes becoming the norm we can buy frozen all year round and when we do buy fresh we forget how the prices go up and down. I love watching your shopping hauls and it does make me think more about what I am buying and why. My son and I are on a low spend month for our grocery and household budget in May. We need to use up our already overflowing freezers and pantry and get to a level where we can understand what's already in and not overspend. Thanks for a great video. Kind regards Angeline 🤗 xx
Thanks so much for your feedback
Hi! There is a woman on RUclips who has a viral video on how she soaks her fruits and vegetables in a diluted vinegar solution, rinses, dries and stores in glass containers in the fridge. They last for several weeks! Her name is Amy Cross and the channel is The Cross Legacy. Great savings and less waste, which I thought you and your viewers would find interesting.
Thanks for the tip, we eat our fruit and vegetables within a week but great tip nonetheless.
I wash my berries, fruit etc in a white vinegar solution too for 15 minutes, rinse a couple of times and store in fridge. They do last for ages, especially if you add a sheet of paper towel on the bottom too. It also helps in killing off any bacteria on the fruit/veg. I've done this for several years and it's great you've shared this tip as it saves food wastage and saves money👍
Wow all across the board it is expensive ! Would be kind of neat to have you get some of your followers from other countries to buy the same list as you and see the prices. I love that your store gives you a % off and cash back. Our stores here in the US don't but Albertsons/Safeway just started to do this last week. I haven't exactly figured it all out but I will. Jane, do you have chickens or plan on getting some?
No and no, thanks for watching
Jane…would you mind sharing how you cook up the stems, stalk and leaves of the cauliflower? I would love to do the same but haven’t a clue what to do.
Chop up the entire cauliflower into florets with stalk and leaves attached, stream and serve with the meal
I just went through a bunch of recent receipts and I get weekly savings between 38% - 84%. This week I will be stocking up on pork chops, sausages and fish for the freezer because they are a good deal. Yesterday, I made a sausage, potato, onion, carrot, lentil stew and froze 4 servings for later. I like seeing your grocery videos and appreciate the different country price conversions. Thank you, have a good weekend.
That's fantastic
34% off is amazing!! You got so many good deals. We have 2 grocery stores this week with $.99 & $1.00 deals. 2 for $1 lemons, limes, navel oranges and cucumbers. $1 for 1lb. Apples, pears, mangos, head lettuce, roma tomato and carrots. (They are normally $1.99 or higher now) Some canned items are $.99 so I was able to get 30 cans for my pantry. Always trying to get the most for my money. Thanks for sharing. Have a wonderful weekend. 🇺🇸🏜
Thanks for sharing
Wow! Great deals! 🎉 I most shop at Aldi here in the US Midwest. Not a ton of sales, and even when there are, no card or app needed.
And I loved seeing the new video of the fluffies! 😊
The dogs are delightful
Greetings from Canada! Another Ribena lover here- black currant is probably my favourite fruit flavour for juices, sweets, jams, etc. I enjoy seeing the deals you find. Have a lovely weekend! :)
Thanks to you too
Today I needed some onions as it’s time to make more rhubarb relish. The 3 pound mesh bags were $3.79 (Canadian). I picked up one which seemed heavy. I weighed it and it was over 4 pounds. Yes, a good deal at less than $1 a pound.
Great deal
Great discounts there Jane. 😃 Some of the items, with the discounts deducted, were similar in price to the likes of Aldi and Liddl here in the UK. Was well worth making the special journey for. Will no doubt make a huge difference to your monthly food bill. Thanks both for sharing this. Can imagine it was a little difficult filming in the supermarket. 🤗
It is, we have to be discreet
Bravo Jane. Finally sales here in Tennessee. I've stocked my freezer , also some pantry. You did great Jane.
That's great!
In addition to the 34% off frozen food, I also bought the Tristar grater/shredder/slicer. I have wanted one of these for a long time but would not pay 40€ for one, but at half price I treated myself. Price 19.95€. Also some bargains on cat food - Sheba buy 1, 60% off second pack, and 20% of large packs of cashew nuts. So like you I am now well stocked.
That's brilliant!
We use the gren part of leek in our soups and stew😊We cut and freece leeks and onion, no blanching and use that frosen
Snap
Interesting seeing your branch of U, there are some differences from ours here. When you weigh the fruit and veg here, there's an extra step of choosing the category they belong to, so there's one for 'petits légumes' which includes leeks (which I'd have thought were quite big veg really) and another for 'ratatouille' which has all peppers including the long green chilli ones which no one would put in ratatouille I'd have thought; fresh ginger counts as an exotic fruit! It's like a quiz or initiative test, but I know my way round it quite well now, and it's quite fun to watch people not knowing where to find the veg or fruit they're looking for and diving in to help them.
One time our branch of Action had Teisseire peach syrup cheap. I had some loose white tea and made peach ice tea with it, delicious! I didn't realise white tea has more caffeine than any other, I was drinking it in the evening and wondering why I was waking up with a racing brain in the middle of the night.
That's all very complicated
Yes,yes, very good indeed. Excellent video. I am very satisfied here, because I asked you about this specific supermarket, was curious about it,you told me info that they have great promos and now you deliver it and show me directly. I like that. Shop looks really good inside, well stocked. They do make remarks about filming in many shops. Not sure why. It's a good advertising from people to show inside I think. Super shopping in Super U. End of the month - yes sure, but I would have done the same as you. Go and shop those deals. Again truly various nutrition,as always.Proteins,carbs,fibers,vitamins,etc. I like to watch how you manage all. You lived life a bit longer than me,so I can learn something from you. Although I am a good and thoughtful shopper myself. Since you asked,I also think the prices are very fair already plus the cash back- best possible for the current times. Those upcoming laundry deals sounds like bingo. Tell us please about the quality of the laundry liquid/powder once you get it and use it. I mean their own brand,I guess . Well, thank you very much. I liked the video and adverts have been watched. Looking forward to the next shopping there for the laundry products. 👍👏💫P.S. What's Porto?
Port is an alcoholic drink made from wine
@@FrugalQueeninFrance I see. Thx
Great haul! Your produce always looks so good, much harder to find produce that nice in the US. I have never seen frozen ground beef packaged like that, I wish we had that here.
Thanks so much!
I loved everything in this video. I really appreciate how you take the extra time to break down the prices including the discounts. Have a great weekend and thank you for sharing. 😊
You are so welcome!
Well done, Jane and Mike🎉🎉. Your strategic planning and shopping experience is so informative and inspiring. A bit of planning and work pays off!! You are well stocked and ready for some delicious, nutritious meals.
Thanks so much
Those puppies are so adorable, love them. Brillant haul, enjoy. Thank you Jane Mike and Puppies.
They are!
I eat everything as well from fruits and veggies. The stalks and leaves of broccoli and cauliflower, the green part of the leeks. It's amazing sauteed.
Good stuff!
Some great deals there, my last great deal was chicken breast fillets and coconut cream so built up a little stash. My new financial folder is going well, I have been tracking for 2 weeks and have a good routine now.
Good deals and good habit stacking
Really interesting to see you working this cash back haul. I checked the price of sugar. It looks like you are paying the equivalent of £1.23 per kg. Here in UK it is currentlly £1.09. I will be doing my payday haul tomorrow, stacking up four layers of money off tactics to get the equivalent of 25% off my total purchase. I am amazed you managed 35% off in one layer of discounts! Bravo !!!
Thanks. Like you, I'm always looking for deals.
Love the video!! Thank you for sharing - as always!!! You got some amazing deals! Absolutely awesome! Today, after work, I went to pick up a few items to get me through a couple weeks (I didn't need enough to balance the cost of fuel to get to the bigger stores 45 min (24 miles) away. The prices are so insane - a quart of heavy cream (I use for coffee and cooking) was $6.69 USD. BUT, fuel is $4.89 per gallon these days (coastal Washington State, US - the taxes here are insane - relocating to a more economical state as soon as my house sells). Regular, every day store brand eggs were $3.49 per dozen (12). I did pick up a few convenience items for the next week or so that if it were more than just me it wouldn't be an option. I so enjoy your videos!!!!
Thanks so much for watching
What a bargain! Last week my grocery store had 10% off a shop up to $500. Which was great so I saved $25. Yesterday I spent more some how, it seems some how certain prices have gone up. Today I got another offer for 10% off until Tuesday. Your produce is wonderful and large.
We do have great food
Amazing you did well, I thought I was the only one eating everything on a cauliflower and broccoli since the stock is kind of hard I steamed , sliced on an angle ( very pleasing to the eyes ) and serve it as a salad with a vinaigrette.
Hello from Kansas city. Kansas USA, originally born and raised in France
Come home, your country is wonderful. 😉
Terrific video on the French shopping haul😊
I use store own brands and mark downs, good going and saves money on Ozzie rising prices 🇦🇺
Enjoy the meals with the doggies 👍✔️
Thank you Jane and Mike for the peek into the French supermarket😊
You're welcome
wow i am blown away by the value of the Aussie dollar to the euro ! I still think you did amazingly !
Thank you
@@FrugalQueeninFrance My household spends $400 roundabouts for 3 adults (2 males) - one of us doesn’t touch meat which helps and the other 2 don’t eat it every day
Great haul Jane and Mike thank you.
So funny that you can't say ..I'm guessing treats because the girls will start barking 😅🐾🐾 their just adorable ❤🐶
Shush, they’ll hear you
😅😅😅
I saved 36 bucks this week. Awesome you get money back.
Well done you, that’s great
I thought you got some great deals! Your frozen ground beef was a good deal. I wish they packaged frozen ground beef here in the U.S. like that.
As always your produce looked so fresh and large! Please show us how you use the outer parts of the cauliflower.
Cut your cauliflower like a cake into wedges. Trim off the 2mm of the stalk that was previously cut and steam the whole thing, stalk leaves florets all together. It looks great on the plate.
Even though fish is higher than we would all like- it is so good and good for us.
I have a question, since i have clearly been doing this wrong for eons. What do you do with cauliflower leaves? Sorry to say i have always tossed them or composted them. You truly do learn something new each day.
Hold the cauliflower so you can cut it into wedges like a cake. Then steam the wedges, usually one wedge each for us with the stem and leaves attached. Eat the lot.
Thanks Mike and Jane, nice to see the shopping in store, thanks for the Kiwi dollar conversion!
Our pleasure!
Great ideas and savings. I am going to give my dogs their own budget as i think i might be overspending, so maybe a few less treats😢.
That's a great idea!
The price of port seemed quite good. I use it making beef stew more than drinking.
we dont have anything like Super U huge discounted promotions but I've just about switched all of my shopping to Lidl from Tesco - Im down to about a dozen items that we cant get in Lidl or prefer Tescos option - Im getting in the habit of only getting the absolute necessities each week until I reach the '10% off next shop' in Lidl then stocking up - thanks for the video
Thanks for sharing!!
Great haul for a good price. So many enjoyable meals. Sweet pups.
Thanks
What do you make w/cauliflower leaves? Intriguing.
Just chop it all up, steam it and eat it with our meal. Don't over cook it as it loses vitamins
Wow Jane you did well with that shop this week. Wonderful discounts, we never see discounts like that here in the U.k. I think myself very lucky and am delighted when I get 10% if I reach the £200 spend within the month at Lidl. But I need to remember any reduction is better than none.
Your food prices are catching up with ours too
Your videos are very inspiring to show what can be done when you pay attention to your shopping habits and offers. I’m shocked sometimes at the difference the store loyalty card or coupons can make. My grocery order today was $70, but only $43 after discounts. If people don’t know or use these programs it makes life much harder.
They're out there, however they're not easy to find
Jane, can I ask about Le Clerc loyalty card, I’m going to get one, is it just one day in the week when you get the 34% on you card.
Usually shop Friday Or Saturday, they have the specials but not sure if it’s just the one day for the bonus.
Many thanks.
Love your video content.
France has got very expensive.
Le clerc loyalty card + download the app and check it frequently, you’ll also get sent information about their Wednesday offers of 34% cash back on your card via email. Check out their online catalogues of their offers. I check theirs, Super U and intermarche to find and shop for the deals.
Fabulous finds! Our short date items have orange stickers, and we get very excited about orange sticker items. The cash back offers you have are amazing. Just a little envious. ;)
They all help
We Greeks eat the ntire cauliflower and beets as well! ❤
You know the value of nutrition in the whole vegetable. We eat beetroot leaves in the summer too
Great video guys. Prices keep us on our toes. We are working through our preserved items still, but watching 👀 for special offers. So far nothing has come up that we need.
That’s the best way
Being frugal allows me to be able to afford special deals when they come up unexpectedly. Saves money in the long run. You are smart to take advantage of deals when you find them. My grocery stores often have unadvertized deals that pop-up unexpected. So I have figured out where the corners where they hide them. After Christmas, I found a stash of good chocolates that were marked 85% off! Used them to make my own candies for Valentine's Day and still have some left over for baking.
Super bargains
Liked seeing the store. Interesting that you have to weigh your own produce. In US we weigh at register. Your produce always looks good. Sales here are in cycles and January is frozen food month. It wont be on sale like yours but different items on sale different weeks. But great time to stock up
Thanks for watching!
Hi Jane and Mike I think you got very good bargain. Well done and thanks
Our pleasure!
Fantastic shopping today! But the thing I found the most interesting is the covered parking lot. Being from an area where we get quite a bit of snow, this would be wonderful to have.
P.S. - Dolly and Mary make my heart sing! I am ready for another dog, preferably a Bichon! ❤
It's covered with solar panels. All supermarkets have them and the energy goes back into the grid
@@FrugalQueeninFrance Brilliant! I don't know why we don't do that here in the U.S.!
❤ Fantastic deals! Now a days you have to take advantage of the deals because you might not have that second chance again. Love seeing your puppies, they just make me smile 😊
So true!
That head of broccoli would be about six dollars here
So cross……Ready to go and found I had a flat battery! Grrr. Next time
Oh no, that's terrible! 😢
We are so lucky if we can pay for our groceries and have money left over.
I'm sorry to hear that
Your doing very well Jane but is it possible long term.
Yes it is, thank you
Sounds like you got good prices on all your food! Excellent video thank you
Thanks for watching!
Yeah, those oranges would be $10 here
Those sausages look lovely. Great prices. Thank you both for taking us along xx
Glad you enjoyed
I used points of my store card this week. I'm in low spend till next month.
We often have months like that . June and July will be low spend months for us
Can you spend your 34% on anything in the store or are you restricted to certain products?
We can spend the cash back on the card on anything we want, even clothes or household items, or central heating oil/granules.
You did well as usual. Still cheaper than in Canada.
Not cheap for here though
Your doggies are the cutest! ❤
great deals!!!! The girls are so sweet!!!
Thanks so much and yes they are
Those teas sound great..we have peach here in usa,
Thanks.
Wow, our prices are double here if not more
Now you know you're being over charged
You look so happy!
Thanks
Good freezer stock up!
You got that right!
The cherry tomatoes were a good deal, I have stopped buying them now as they are out of season and the price has sky rocketed!
Thanks for commenting
I love this grocery haul Jane & Mike! Thanks for sharing! Well done!!
You are so welcome!
👍👍👍
Your girls are adorable ! Also, I am always envious when I see your cauliflower heads. Amazing! I bet they are delicious! Jeanne
Thank you so much!
❤ a good deal
I thought you got some excellent prices. Also, you bought REAL food.
Thanks, is there any other kind?
Well I can't fault anything with your haul Jane. Blooming marvellous savings and it was wise to take advantage of the chance to save so much! 👍
Oh thank you!
Thank you Jane & Mike
Thank you for watching
