    Marc, very nice presentation. Liked the 'Olympic Gasket Rings of Silicone!'
    Silicone gaskets are great! The first time I replaced the stock gasket on my GS3 (after a year - and it was hard), I replaced it with a silicone gasket. It has lasted three years, and shows no sign of needing to be replaced.
    Mark's comment about not having to snug the portafiter as tight with silicone gaskets is exactly right. A very light 'snug' always suffices. My portafilter assembly has always pointed to about 6:30, and over four years use, stays exactly at the same spot (with the silicone gasket).
    A very light greasing of food safe silicone lube on the backside and inner sides of the gasket to assure easy removal. I use a 'gasket pick' to remove the gasket, but a table knife usually works fine if it's not stuck in too hard. Another advantage to silicone, they come out easily. One has to be more careful in handling the silicone gasket though -- although it's pretty tough, it's easier to tear than a rubber gasket (which is almost indestructible - but hard to get out if left in too long).

      Hey b, Thanks for the kind comment! Couldn't miss the Olympic ring compare. No orange in the real deal but I was right about black! The silicone gaskets do last a lot longer and def don't have to crank hard on them. Thanks for the tip on lubing the gasket.

      @@Wholelattelovepage Ironically, the LM Linea Mini uses an orange silicone gasket. I use it on my GS3 instead of the blue one (identical size) because I can see any crud more easily on the orange silicone gasket. I saw you throwing the black gasket on, and I thought immediately "YUP!" Guessed right!.

    Fantastic video Marc! Question, after my machine heats up and I go to remove the PF, the basket gets stuck to the gasket... And it's very difficult to pull the basket out when it's not seated in the PF... Any advise on how to prevent this?

    • @Wholelattelovepage
      @Wholelattelovepage  9 месяцев назад

      Hey b, Thanks for the comment! That has happened to a few times. It's been awhile but mostly when I've left the portafilter in the machine overnight and maybe had it cranked in kinda tight. Always advise leaving the portafilter in the group when machine is on so it warms up but it does not need to be cranked in tight for that. Keeping the group area including the gasket clean helps prevent. Residual coffee goo is sticky. Also I don't ever recall a basket sticking when I had a silicone gasket installed in place of the original rubber type.

      @@Wholelattelovepage got it and noted and managed to your advise all the time. It's a rocket mozzafiato, 7 months old with original rubber gasket. I have a silicone one, orange color, and I tried installing it but can't get it to fit. It was provided by rocket, maybe it's the wrong size. And I have watched your videos on how to replace it and tried all the tricks. The basket is a VST and will swap it with the stock basket to see if I have the same issue. Really not a big deal, but just a nuisance to deal with! I sometimes rub a tiny bit of olive oil on the lip of the basket and that works for a few days/uses... Thx I appreciate you and your videos. Be well.

    I would think it would be more about the proper seal than exactly where the handle ends up. What exactly is the required/target pressure?

    • @Wholelattelovepage
      @Wholelattelovepage  9 месяцев назад

      Hey B, I agree seal is more most important. There is not a specific pressure other than enough to not have a leak.

    Can anyone confirm if it's 8mm or 8.5mm for a Gaggia Classic pro? Thanks.

    • @Wholelattelovepage
      @Wholelattelovepage  9 месяцев назад

      Hi R, For a new/newer classic we recommend the orange 8mm Caffewerks gasket. For well enjoyed (older) Classics we recommend the yellow 8.5mm gasket to make up for wear of group head and portafilter lock in tabs.
