I tricked out my Gaggia Classic pro with a bottomless Portafilter, Baristapro Precision Filter Basket 18 grams, Caffewerks Silicone Group Gasket Orange and IMS Nanotech Shower Screen. It is amazing how four upgrades can improved the experience and quality of my espresso shots. I am now getting more consistent results.
Sorry to be so offtopic but does anyone know a method to get back into an instagram account? I was stupid forgot the password. I would love any tricks you can offer me!
Thank you so much for these exceptionally high-quality educational videos. I am one month into my Classic Evo Pro I purchased from WLL and I truly enjoy the amount of art involved in using these machines and in creating espresso.
I know WLL being a seller of this machine they can’t recommend any modifications. but, I did the dimmer mod and having that control has made My espresso so much better. highly recommend it to anyone thinking about doing it.
😃Marc! What can I say? First of all the company honored the price discount that occurred less than a week from my purchase. Then I tricked out the unit before first use. your videos are great. The first pull!? Wonderful! I use a local roaster and have been. This cup was so much better than my appliance pull. I can hardly wait to get the grind dialed in. A weekend project. I have been following you for years and now have entered a new world of coffee. Thank you.
Hey thom324! You're welcome. Thanks for following and sharing your experience with Whole Latte Love! Our staff of coffee lovers are so awesome. H Dr., Thanks for the kind comment - all nice upgrades! If you get into them be sure and watch my video on how to remove stubborn group components on Gaggia Classic Pro. Could make your life a whole latte easier! ruclips.net/video/b-d0L_X_KjA/видео.html Marc
Hi Marc - I recently bought the Classic Pro from WLL with a Baratza Sette 270 grinder after having suffered through years of overly acidic, watery under-extractions on my Gaggia Brera and all I can say is wow, this machine and setup is absolutely fantastic, being able to dial in and really pull high quality, balanced, tasty shots is extremely satisfying. Looking forward to tinkering around more with it and making some of these upgrades!
Hi William, Congrats on your new machine! It's a little more work than the Brera but with a bit of effort you can pull excellent shots! We have a ton of Gaggia Classic videos on our channel like this one showing a technique to achieve pre-infusion: ruclips.net/video/AoZuYaDq5yc/видео.html and excellent support videos and articles here: support.wholelattelove.com/hc/en-us/sections/1500000384362-Gaggia-Classic-Pro Marc
I must say, the quality of your videos is really up there. Your attitude is also great. Keep up the solid work. The information is extremely valuable as well. You get it right...espresso lovers.
Thank you a lot ! I have the Gaggia evo pro, and after watching your video, I've just orded the nano 22g Basket, the shower plate and the gasket that you suggest in your video... your tips will really help me improoved my coffee shots 😊
Helpful video. I got the orange gasket and the cleaner. I’ve had the machine for a year now. I pull 2-3 shots per day and had not done any real maintenance on it. It’s very clean now!
I have a classic from 2002 bought second hand. I owned it for 3 years and all i did was clean it and add rancilio steam wand. Finally got round to doing the OPV mod and changing it to 9 bar. IMO this is THE most important mod you can do. I didnt know what good espresso tasted like until i did this.
Hi SC, Thanks for the comment. I honestly do not think it's worth it. Not a concern for you with older machine, but that kind of mod voids on newer machine. As I've mentioned before, brew pressure only reaches above normal if grind size causes it to. Marc
There is no one better than Mark.... I just bought a Gaggia Classic pro and a Baratza Sette 30... now for some accessories. Watching Mark’s videos has given me confidence to make espresso at home. I ordered my Baratza Sette 30 on Friday and it is being delivered on Monday. Whole Latte Love’s responsiveness is insanely fast. My new go-to for all of my coffee needs ☕️☕️☕️
Hey Geri, Thanks for the comment - I need you to have a little talk with my wife ;) Happy to hear I've helped you out! And there you go saying how quick we are to respond and I'm 3 days late to your comment. Guessing you've received your grinder by now hopefully it's working well for you. Be aware static can be an issue initially and in low humidity conditions. That gets better after the burrs get some oil on them from the coffee. If it continues stir your beans with a wet finger prior to grinding and that will control the static.
@@Wholelattelovepage thanks for the great tips!! Without your videos I wouldn’t have made these great purchases. I am kind of wishing I would have bought the Sette 270 instead of the Sette 30 because of the micro adjustment capabilities, however, I think I can work with it by adjusting the dose. Also, the problem with static is getting better with use. It really is a great machine. Thanks again. ☕️
Hey MF, Thanks for the comment. Happy to hear you are loving your Classic Pro. It is without question the best value in premium entry-level semi-auto espresso machines. Marc
Hi Jason, Check our support wiki for the Classic: wiki.wholelattelove.com/Gaggia_Classic/cleaning_and_maintenance Look for the Group Head Cleaning video for tips on getting the screws and holding plate off. Marc
So happy to have found you I have an older classic.purchased my machine maybe 20 years ago a 24k good plate version .could never get hang of it so it's been sitting on a shelf never getting used I still have the box in as new condition .could never stop the pot from leaking over the sides so I gave up .

I bought the breville pro on last black friday and didn't like it , after a long research including your videos, I decided to get the gaggia classic pro with the eureka Mignon Specialita from you guys, to get a real espresso set up .
Hey Alex, Awesome - I'm sure you will enjoy your Classic Pro! we have more than 35 videos on the machine. Just Search our channel for Gaggia Classic. Marc
Hi Marc, I have a Classic Pro and I did all the upgrades you showed in this video! And I have to say it’s a must! It improves an already great machine 😊👍 I also changed the OPV to 9 bar. But i’m also thinking to fit a PID 😅😎 love your videos ❤️❤️❤️
Hey Sandy, Thanks for the love and sharing your opinion on the upgrades! Sounds like this video really hit home for you. As mentioned in the video I advise against the PID. Voids any remaining warranty and could cause problems. Fairly easy to surf temp with flushes and quick hits of steam on the Classic with some practice. On the OPV understand under normal extraction brew pressure is good. In static closed system (no flow out of the group) pressure is over 9 bar. Same as you'll get on most smaller vibration pump machines in order to provide a good flow rate. If grind size is right, internal pressure during an actual extraction never gets anywhere close to pressure measured in a static system. Marc
@@Wholelattelovepage Thanks for your advice. You are absolutely right about the OPV but without a pressure gauge it’s hard to really know. I think if Gaggia wants to win the “coffee lottery” they should make a gaggia classic with PID and pressure gauge! It’s the only reason why I sometimes look at other machines 😅
@@sandyd4271 When Rancilio upgraded the Silvia to PID, the price doubled, although they also went dual boiler. I am not sure that the basic Classic Pro design is strong enough to make this change worth the money.
Another great video Marc. I have learnt so much. Got my classic a year or so ago and love it. Still working out a few bugs like sloppy pods and espresso coming down to fast. But I will conquer that. However under where the portafilter goes on…there are four screws that holds everything in to the frame, and I’m not sure why but every so often the two front screws fall out or almost fall out. The back ones stay tight but the front two don’t. What can that be from and is there something I can do to stop it from happening . Thanks for all your advice and help over the past year or two 🇨🇦☕️
Hi lyn, You're welcome for the help! I've never heard of those screws randomly falling out. I inquired with our tech department and neither have they. If the threads for the screws are stripped it's possible pump vibrations could work them loose over time. You could try a product like Loctite: www.loctiteproducts.com/en/know-how/build-things/threadlocker-red-or-blue-which-ones-right-for-you.html Take out the offending screws, apply some Loctite to the threads and screw them back in securely. Hope that helps! Marc
@@Wholelattelovepage thanks Marc….James and i talked about Loctite….ok awesome we will try that. Thanks so much for all the advice over the year or two.
I highly disagree with not installing a PID on this machine, without it it’s very inconsistent. Also adjusting the OPV is an excellent upgrade to get better espressos.
singel boiler machines with this gaggia , has some inconsistent temperature readings, if you read the acutal temp coming out,it will be very inaccurate. unless your PID mode bends laws of thermal mass then thats another talk.
I agree... although, after having a pid, I think it is possible to develop a reliable non pid technique Basically, if you time how long it takes to go from the heating element on, to heating element off Then you can calibrate when will be a good time to start brewing Let’s say the heating element switches on at 180, and takes 30 seconds to switch off at 215 Then you can force the boiler to cool to switch on.... wait for 20 seconds.... and you will be at a good brew temp with heating element on Anyway, if I had to go back to a non pid single boiler... this is what I would do Cheeers
Dude if you have to install PID you shouldve opted for another machine that already has temp control, PID is way too complex for the intentional use of gaggia classic. If its that essential for the consumer / gaggia classic market, they wouldve made an option for PID version or at least upgraded so that all gaggia has PID.
Thanks Marc- Yeah- I thank you for taking the time to answer- it's much appreciated- I'm looking for a good machine- I dunno whether to get an entry level now, or take the plunge now and a prosumer- thats' the quandary at this point- I don't mind taking the time to dial in, working at getting a good cup- that would be fine- I don't mind shots being off a little bit here and there- i actually don't mind a cup of either bitter or acidic tasting if it's not totally horrendous. I will probably go with the classic pro- almost ready to go that route I think, but just wanna make sure that it will compete pretty well with prosumer- Again, the fact it can be overhauled is a huge plus- I think the more complicated ones with their electronics panels and lcd etc would be harder to overhaul if something went wrong in those lines-
Hi Marc, thanks for your video, I think I had watch this video for more than 5 times, and finally convince to upgrade to silicone gasket, I’m using Gaggia classic pro, and having frustration with the locking in the portafilter.
Hi MrA, The silicone gasket should improve ease of clock-in. The stock gasket is rather hard and takes some time to break in. Silicone is much softer. Be sure and get the orange 8mm gasket for your newer machine: www.wholelattelove.com/products/caffewerks-silicone-group-gasket-73-x-57-x-8mm Marc
Another great video. I've just ordered a classic pro from the UK distributor based on your detailed informative videos. I like a bit of DIY so I'm hoping this will be the machine for me. I'm a complete novice when it comes to making espresso so I'm looking forward to the challenge and may even video my progress for my youtube channel. Keep up the good work and your enthusiasm for all things coffee!
Hi PH, Thanks for the comment and share your videos with us if you do post. If you need more help search out our other videos on the Classic on our channel - we have more than 35! Marc
Hi Allison, Thanks for sharing. Perfect example of why I advise people who are at all serious about espresso avoid the plasticky pressurized basket appliance grade "espresso" makers. They will have nowhere near the longevity of a true serviceable machine like the Classic. Marc
I would of expected adjusting the over pressure valve on this guide as the pressure change can make a big difference and these machines come stock with quite a OPV setting.
Hi M, Thanks for the comment, I have detailed my reasoning in other comments on this video. Bottom line: static pressure does not equal brew pressure during an extraction which should be in range if grind size is dialed in. Marc
I was looking for my first entry level machine since long followed your videos on many topics and finally decided the classic pro got a good deal in gaggia classic pro and looks like made a great choice 👌👍
Gaggia Classic Pro is the one I'm really interested in. Just trying to convince my wife that we need one. 😁 I have the Gaggia Brera right now. It's ok but I want to invest in a good semi-auto. Thanks for the informative video!
Fantastic video, I did the gasket upgrade and got a Barista Pro Nanotech basket. It was pretty easy even for my non-mechanically inclined self. Biggest issue was the screw on the shower screen was pretty tight and I had to flip it over, factory may have tightened it a bit much. I want to get the nanotech shower screen as well, but it was out of stock and will be until May. I do have to complement Whole Latte Love big time on their shipping. I ordered early in the morning and it was out of the warehouse same day. In terms of the upgrades I've done one shot with the new basket so far and really can taste a pretty nice quality bump already. May also get the bottomless some day.
Hi Robert, Thanks for the kind comment and report of your experience/result doing upgrades. I actually have a video showing how to remove stubborn group components: ruclips.net/video/b-d0L_X_KjA/видео.html That screw being a PITA to remove is common. Not so much that it was over tightened. More likely accumulated deposits from use. Marc
@@Wholelattelovepage very possible. I actually found a suggestion on Reddit to replace it with a similar size screw with a hex head instead of phillips. I actually did reference your video when it was stuck.
excellent video. Very informative. it definitely makes it easier to go for one of this when you see this video. Any suggestions on coffee grinders that wont break your budget and would work well this machine? I would sincerely appreciate the help. thank you
Hi BS, Thanks for the kind comment and question. Not sure what your budget is but you def want a burr grinder and I recommend a machine grade build quality. The Eureka Mignon Facile is a good no frills option: www.wholelattelove.com/products/eureka-mignon-facile-espresso-grinder Also the Bezzera BB005: www.wholelattelove.com/products/bezzera-bb005-automatic-grinder There are cheaper burr grinders available but they use a lot of plastic in construction, lower power motors, less precise grind size adjustment and have smaller burrs which sacrifice grind quality. If budget is very limited the Capresso Infinity is an appliance grade compromise - not as capable as the machine grade grinders mentioned above: www.wholelattelove.com/products/capresso-infinity-plus-conical-burr-coffee-grinder-in-silver Hope that helps! Marc
Love these vids. Searching for my first machine. So many great comments on the Classic Pro and theses upgrades are so simple. Why do I keep thinking that I need something better/more expensive like an Appartamento?
Hi PSW, The Gaggia Classic Pro is a great value. It's a single boiler machine so making a milk drink is more of a process than on a machine with a heat-exchange boiler which can brew and steam simultaneously. Marc
the basket and gasket upgrade definitely changed a lot of the issues i was having with my portafilter not going in all the way and the basket made it so much easier to get out pucks!! if anything the basket is the best out of all :) i wanna try the showerscreen but it's out of stock!
Hi Alex, Thanks for sharing your experience. The Cafewerks silicone gasket is much softer than the stock rubber gasket! Sorry the shower screen is out of stock - should have more soon! Marc
This is too much of a coincidence. I literally was going to go type in gaggia upgrades and this was the first video on my RUclips feed before even using the search bar??
I'm kinda loving these machines. I'm definitely thinking of upgrading from my Breville. It's actually just a matter of when. When I do, I'll definitely make a couple of the upgrades too. Very cool. Thanks, Marc!
@@Wholelattelovepage It's so funny. Later the same day I wound up buying a Gaggia Classic Pro from WLL! Reading my comment now is funny! Obviously my mind was already made up. lol
@@musicmann1967 how do you like your machine? I just returned my Breville barista express and thinking of upgrading to this with the breville smart pro grinder :)
@@xxashley69 Hi Ashley. I like the Gaggia. It's a VERY manual machine though, just be aware of that. There is nothing at all that is just a flick of a switch or a button. You have to manually do everything, which was a bit different from my Breville that I had before. It makes really good shots though, so I'm happy. Also, re: the Breville Smart Grinder Pro.. There seems to be conflicting opinions about whether or not it's good for espresso. Just fyi.
Great video. Have a new classic pro and want to do the gasket, screen upgrade. Can’t move the screw holding the screen though! Tips to do so appreciated. Thanks.
Hi b, Thanks for the comment and question. They can be difficult. Be sure and use the proper size Phillips head screw driver so as not to damage the slots in the screw head. If you have a socket that accepts a Phillips head bit that can help you get more leverage. If that does not help try turning to tighten slightly before loosening. If you have a propane torch you can try some gentle heating. If still not there flip the machine upside down and apply a penetrating oil like WD40 to the screw and let it soak in for 20 minutes. If using the penetrating oil be sure and clean thoroughly with soap/water to remove before using the machine. Hope that helps! Marc
This video popped up after I re-watched the "Gaggiuino Project" modification video for the Gaggia Classic (and Pro). If Gaggia would add this mod as a feature to their "Classic Pro," they would, as Emeril LaGasse would say, "has kicked it up a notch!" 😀 The author of the Gaggiuino software has made it clear there's to be no profit made from his work, but I'm sure the folks at Gaggia could develop code to do the same using the STM32 chip. I'm waiting for a few more parts before I can do the modification to my Classic Pro. The "Gaggiuino" mod makes the other PID mods look pretty lame in comparison.
@@sdtok527 I didn't mean to suggest they use this particular mod. I'd hope Gaggia could find a programmer to do something similar. I'm wondering what the next Gaggiuino release will be like? The Nextion display is being dropped. It would be nice if they could eliminate the display completely and use an App or a webpage for control.
@@phillipzx3754 That is not what I am saying either, the gaggiuino project does not have patents. But at this very moment Decent espresso is being sued for the use of software in espresso machines. Searcg Marzocco integrated scale, they also were sued. The espresso machine industry is not in a healthy place unfortunately.
Mark, thanks for all your great videos. Just one question, I have a new Gaggia Classic Pro (made 03/2021), so i have the stainless shower screen holding plate, but when i put my new IMS Shower Screen on, the water doesn't seem to flow as nicely/uniformly as the standard screen. Does this matter? I watched another video of yours (with the E61 screen install) and the flow from the IMS on that video looked better than the standard, but still wasn't perfectly uniform. So i guess i was wondering if the uniformity is necessary without it being under pressure? or is there any where i might have gone wrong? Everything is clean, the unit is brand new.
I think the two biggest improvements on the classic for me has been upgrading the steam wand and .....cleaning it. Have to get that cafiza through it every 2-4 weeks.
@@Wholelattelovepage Hey Marc... here is a tip that may be useful.... As you know, freshly ground espresso is fluffy, and so, if you grind it into the basket, you have a little mountain that needs to be carefully leveled What I do now is to grind into a cup After weighing... invert the cup on to the basket Shake the basket with cup on top to level out coffee But still, the fluffy coffee will be above the top of the basket So I take the bottomless porta filter with cup still on top and firmly tap it on and tap it down onto a towel on the counter This semi compacts the espresso to a level below the top of the basket Which makes it a bit easier to do final leveling and tamping Anyway,, this technique works well for me Thanks again to you and WLL
Hey Mark, I believe so. Unfortunately I do not have a baby to confirm but. You can reach out to our tech support team to confirm specific compatibility here if desired: support.wholelattelove.com/
Nice video! OPV and PID mods are probably not covered much here due to warranty issue it can create. So I can understand Whole Latte Love position. But honestly, someone new to Gaggia should start by that. I see only positive opinions about PID and OPV mod is a no brainer.
Hi AN, Thanks for the comment and sharing your opinion. You are correct on the warranty issue. I've covered in detail my thoughts on the PID and OPV mods in response to other comments on the video. Bottom line: As others have stated in the comments the Gaggia Classic Pro produces excellent results out of the box without modifications. I understand there are hobbyist who enjoy tinkering. For those who do, I cannot recommend doing so but understand - just be aware of the risks being taken. Marc
Hi Marc! I have this machine on my Christmas list and will have to buy it if someone doesn't gift me one. :-) I've read some things about the machine coming in brand-new from the factory with a higher-than-typical pressure setting (13 bars). I'd love to know/see your take on how to eyeball/adjust the pressure without a separate calibration device. I know there's a lot of emphasis on grind size with dialing in, but since there's not a pressure gauge on this machine to determine whether it's actually too high or too low, I'd love to know some rules of thumb on dialing in the pressure when the coffee still isn't "right" even with the correct ratios and pull times. This will be my first upgrade from an appliance to a machine. Thank you so much for these videos.
Hi Mariya, the Over pressure valve OPV regulates the maximal pressure of the machine. The gaggia classic pro comes with 15bar from factory. you can buy different springs to replace the original one. I have a 9 bar spring in my OPV and it works very nice 👍
@@sandyd4271 Thank you so much. Do you know what else I will really _need_ to do to the machine to get good espresso, so that I can plan ahead? It's too bad it isn't ideal right out of the box.
@@mariyavandivort8973 Even if it’s not ideal, it makes very nice espresso right out of the box, I would recommend; OPV spring 9bar, showerscreen, and professional baskets. but the most important thing is a really nice grinder! don’t safe money on the grinder. I got a Eureka specialita. it costs a bit more than the Gaggia classic pro but it is worth it!
@@mariyavandivort8973 Hello! If you would like to usу IMS or VST baskets you really need 9 bar OPV spring. Cut some rings of orginal one or buy kit from Mr. Shades (as I did). Otherwise you will get chanelling. Standard 12-15 bar too much for precision baskets.
Hey Marc, Just to make sure I followed, the shower holding plate is already the nicer stainless steel one on the pro. There is no reason to upgrade it, but the filter basket, bottomless portafilter, group gasket and shower screen are the upgrades you should perform? Thanks for all the great videos you guys have done on this machine!
Hi Brandon, You are welcome for the videos! Yes, the newer Classic Pros all have the stainless holding plate. The other upgrades are not required but can extend capabilities of the machine. At some point you will have to replace the group gasket and you might as well go with the silicone: www.wholelattelove.com/collections/group-gaskets/products/caffewerks-silicone-group-gasket-73-x-57-x-8mm Also, bookmark our support sectiopn for the Gaggia Classic Pro. Hey Marc! My wife got me the Baristapro 18 gram portafilter basket for my Classic pro. I've been using it for a few weeks now and I can't seem to get good shots like I did with the stock basket. I always used 17 grams of coffee but bumped up to 18 with the new basket, adjusted the depth of my leveler (higher and lower). It always seems bitter (I think it's bitter anyway). The shot pulls in a good time and looks like it's going to be good, but ends up sucking. Not sure what to do. I appreciate all videos you guys do, you guys are great!
Hey K, Thanks for the question. Precision baskets in most cases use a slightly finer grind than stock baskets for a similar extraction rate. But With a slightly higher dose you may have compensated for that. Most bitter flavors present at the end of an extraction so I would try cutting shots earlier to reduce bitter flavors. My colleague AJ has an excellent video on Salami shots which dissects when certain flavors present in an extraction: ruclips.net/video/_yIpi5KPUys/видео.html Marc
So with the shower plate holder: stainless will hold more heat than aluminum, but aluminum will have more even heat distribution and will get to temp faster. I assume Gaggia chose aluminum on the older Classics (including mine) because it shortens the time to get to temp, but I do wonder if the more even heat distribution was also a consideration. Have you had trouble with the new stainless ones being less even temp-wise?
Hey Thomas, Congrats on your new machine! None of the upgrades is required. If your GCP was manufactured recently chances are it already has the stainless steel holding plate. I do like the silicone group gasket. It's much softer than stock allowing for easier clock-in and they last longer. That's something you could pick up now and either replace immediately or wait till the original wears out - group gaskets are a wear item. I also like the precision filter baskets. Stock is fine, but if you like larger coffee doses or want deeper extractions they tend to have a higher natural flow rate so require grinding a bit finer which can get more out of a coffee. Also, be sure and bookmark our support site for the GCP. It's loaded with maintenance & techniques video that can help you get more out of your machine: support.wholelattelove.com/hc/en-us/sections/1500000384362-Gaggia-Classic-Pro Marc
thanks for the video. i think i made a mistake in buying the kit with brass for the shower and 8.5 ring for the new machine. are the stainless steel better than brass?
Hi Baan, I do prefer the stainless steel holding plate. It's a lot heavier than the brass part so has higher thermal mass for more stable temperature. Also less likely to have difficulty removing screen and plate for cleaning. Marc
@@Wholelattelovepage thanks for your response. Another thing I notice is the ring gasket on the new machine is red vs the black. I haven't done the replacement yet so I can't say if it's the better silicon or just the same old with a different color.
Hola, Still loving my Gaggia Class Pro but have a couple questions. 1) Does the "blowout Tube work automatically when needed? 2) Sometimes the basket gets stuck when the handle is removed, how can I prevent this? Should I clean it out immediately after each use (I usually wait until used again). That's it. Out of five espresso machines I owned at home this Gaggia is by far the best. Gracia.
Hi Chef, Thanks for sharing your Classic love and the questions! 1. Yes. It should shoot out a bit of water at the end of an extraction automatically. 2. Best to knock used coffee out of basket immediately after use. Not uncommon for filter baskets to stick in the group if left tightly clocked in and the machine cools off. PFs should be left in the group when not in use. To avoid basket sticking clock in lightly. Also helps to keep the gasket, group and shower screen clean. And don't forget other maintenance like backflushing after every few dozen brew cycles. Here's a video featuring a maintenance package for the Classic everything you need and basic maintenance advice: ruclips.net/video/eT80QIcPcVc/видео.html Hope that helps! Marc
So one I wish this came out a few weeks earlier lol because I have a new classic and I thought the yellow was the right gasket from reviews and Q and A's on your site but yeah I was wrong it gets real tight before six o'clock more like nine o'clock. Fortunately I was able to figure out from the site, from a reviewer I think, that I didn't need to buy the SS group head because I already had one on my new machine so that's great.
Hi r, Thanks for the comment. Timing is everything! Great your machine came with the SS shower holding plate. Much nicer than the aluminum for heat retention, cleanliness and ease of fastener removal. Hang onto that yellow gasket as the machine will be ready for it at some point in years to come. Marc
Hey o, for sure! Currently the lowest price PID machine we carry is the Profitec GO: www.wholelattelove.com/collections/semi-automatic-espresso-machines/products/profitec-go-espresso-machine-red It's a single boiler machine so no simultaneous brewing and steaming on that one. Lowest price heat-exchange boiler machine which can do simultaneous brewing steaming is the BZ13: www.wholelattelove.com/collections/semi-automatic-espresso-machines/products/bezzera-bz13-pm Hope that helps! Marc
Hey Marc, just got the new silicone gasket but it still feels tight to clock in. I’ve only been using it with the new gasket for about a day or so but do you think it will break in?
Hey KJ, Did you get the orange or yellow? Yellow is .5mm thicker so if using on a newer machine it will be tight. If orange that's what you want for newer machine. It should break in a bit - but honestly not very much. Be sure the gasket is fully seated in receiving channel and that you filter basket is fully seated in your PF. Marc
Hi David, It's not necessary. Thousands of GCPs out there with no mod and pulling great shots! What some people don't understand is when actually pulling a shot you're fairly close to 9 bar pressure in the portafilter. Measuring pressure in a closed system - static pressure is not the same as pressure in PF when pulling a shot. Marc
@@Wholelattelovepage Ah, that makes sense. Thank you for getting back to me. I did pick up one of WLL's precision machined portafilter baskets. That has made a nice difference, and the nano quartz coating (whatever that is), makes the pucks really easy to pop out of the basket after pulling a shot. I also purchased one of your precision shower screens, but haven't installed it yet. I'm looking forward to that little mod.
One thing that bothers me about the design of this machine is the slide-out water tank. There is a small gap that allows dust and bugs potentially to get into the tank. Is there a better fitting tank that seals to the machine better?
Hey richard, understand your concern. I'm trying to think of a semi-auto machine which has a totally sealed water reservoir and I don't know of any. For reference I've used just about every semi-auto machine available in North America for the last decade. For dust, the gap is better covered by the overhang of the machine than most. Bugs?... Not sure how you prevent that in any machine aside from not having bugs around to begin with. There are in-reservoir filters available like this one for the Gaggia Classic: www.wholelattelove.com/products/bwt-bestcup-m-package It connects directly to the machines water intake tube. The filter has activated carbon for chemical contaminants, particle filtration which should take care of dust/bugs. Filter also removes calcium and replaces with magnesium so you're protected from lime scale deposits in the machine. Hope that helps! Marc
Hello! Thanks for the vid! I just installed the ims shower screen and I think that on the left side less water is going thru, is that normal? Also the stock group gasket is a little bit heavier than the new one with a little bit over 300g, compared with the ims one (ca 260g I think), is the ims still better?
Hi SS, Not unusual to have variations in water flow out of the shower screen. Could be a slight tilt, coffee residue, or surface tension of water. Heavier is not necessarily better for group gasket. Silicone gaskets do weight less, last longer and don't require stiff clock in like stock rubber gaskets. Marc
Hi , I like your comments , you just get to the details that matter. Could you please do one about Lelit Bianca - how you can use all features of it to achieve pallatable espresso and latte and how can you clean it ? Best Regards
Hi - I have a Gaggia Classic Pro. I noticed in your video the bottomless porta filter comes with a precision basket. My question is 1) do I go with that or 2) stick with the portafilter that comes with the machine and add a nanotech basket or 3) do I gain anything with bottomless + nanotech basket?
Hi Jose, Thanks for the question. Most people like the bottomless PF for checking their technique and for the beauty of watching the extraction take form. Using a bottomless, you'll know if your distribution and/or tamping technique are off. If it is you'll get blank areas and/or spurts from spots on the visible bottom of the filter basket. Be aware the spurts can be messy and require some extra cleanup - motivation to improve your technique! When done well bottomless shots are beautiful to watch - some call it espresso porn :). Also may be easier to see when it's time to stop the extraction based on the espresso drip blonding out. Hope that helps! Marc
Your video inspired me to purchase your refurbed Gaggia Classis Pro! Ordering upgrades from Whole Latte Love; silicone gasket & Baristapro precision filter basket!! Ive really interested in getting a bottomless filter, trying to match the portafilter handle to the wood handle on my Fellow Staag kettle .... Will a E16 port filter fit the Gaggia Classic Pro? Thanks so much for your videos and guidance!!
Hey Liz, Thanks for the comment. You got lucky - the Classic refurbs go quick and are in high demand. Hope are (or will be) enjoying the machine and upgrades. Unfortunately E61 portafilters will not fit in the Gaggia Classic Pro. We do not currently have a bottomless PF w/wood handle for the Classic. Working on getting one and hope to have soon. Currently we have this bottomless w/o wood: www.wholelattelove.com/products/gaggia-bottomless-portafilter Marc
I guess I know what I'm doing tomorrow - finding out if the group is aluminum on my Classic Pro. Come to think of it, I don't think I ever installed the silicone gasket or the precision shower screen I ordered at the time. I looked for my review to see if you had any comments but it's gone. Specifically, the water tank is so dark I can't see the level. I've been wondering if Gaggia has a clear one as an upgrade.
Can Whole Latte Love look at trying to get in the semi rare stainless low drip tray? It would make it more easy to work with a scale under the group head.
I broke down and used a 3d printer to fabricate one (there's a free schematic out on thingverse?) It makes all the difference in the world pulling shots into mugs with a scale underneath.
@@stevegee218 That CF0111 is not a Gaggia part, MrBean2Cup explains it having been custom made for them. Which sounds possible. Looks like a good design with decent catch volume.
Would there be any advantage in exchanging the standard shower screen of a new machine, to the nanotech version, and how do you know when it's time to change the gasket... ?
Hey Pip, Thanks for the question. Advantages of changing out shower screen: more even distribution of brew water on puck surface and it's easier to clean/stays cleaner. Need for gasket change indicated by portafilter clocking in too far, leaks from around seal when extracting or notice current gasket is brittle requireing extra effort when clocking in to get a good seal. Marc
Hi Mark...This might be come little late but I ordered a straight sided 18g basket and it doesn't fit my OEM Gaggia Classic portafilter since the PF is stepped to a narrower circumference at the bottom and the straight sided basket does not seal. Are there any straight sised / larger capacity precision baskets that fit the OEM Gaggia Classic PF?
Hey Tex, I tested this 18/22g IMS in the Classic PF and it fits. Users in product reviews report the same: www.wholelattelove.com/collections/portafilters-and-filter-baskets/products/ims-curved-bottom-precision-portafilter-basket-18-22g Marc
I have a Gaggia Classic pro purchased new about 6 months ago. The electrical plug in through the back wall is very loose and the female plug will drop out a bit and the unit looses power. I’ve taken the top off and the whole black plastic electrical assembly is loose where it goes through the stainless back wall. Any advice on how to fix this would be appreciated.
Hi Mike, A slight bit of play in the black female receiver is normal. It's a press in modular assembly. Play there should not cause the plug to fall out. Beyond the looseness does there appear to be any damage to the female cord end or male blades within the receiver? I've worked with many dozens of GCP's and never had a plug fall out. It's a very secure connection. If you see damage in either component it should be replaced. If you're in the US/Canada you can reach to our Tech Support for further assistance and/or parts if needed: support.wholelattelove.com/hc/en-us Marc
Thanks for your comments. I think I wasn’t pressing the plug in hard enough….afraid of damaging the unit. My wife, who is less sensitive about damaging mechanical stuff, pushed the plug in harder and it seated properly. Thanks!
Hi NG, Thanks for the question. We have spouted Gaggia PF with wood handle and a bottomless without wood but no bottomless with wood handle at this time :( www.wholelattelove.com/collections/portafilters-and-filter-baskets?_=pf&pf_v_brand=Gaggia Marc
I am new to the espresso game and having trouble getting flow. I see coffee appear quite quickly bit then it just hangs on the bottom of my basket. Takes way too long to get a shot. I switched out to bottomless, ims basket and waiting for ims shower screen. But no matter what i do - change grind size, better puck prep - it still doesnt work. So now I am asking myself: do i screw on the portafilter too hard? Not tight enough? Need some help here :(
Hi MV, I doubt it has anything to do with attaching portafilter tightly. More inclined to think your grind is too fine. Here's a video on dialing in grind size that may be of help: ruclips.net/video/unHHToGjshI/видео.html Marc
Hey all the T's, You are welcome! Not sure exactly which filter baskets you are referring to but "NT" imprinted on baskets like on IMS Baristapro models indicates the basket has a Nanotech quartz coating. A nanoquartz finish inside the basket protects against corrosion, boosts longevity, and repels grinds, making for easy cleanup with a non-scratching cloth. Marc
@@Wholelattelovepage oh gotcha.. i saw that the NT shower screen on your store was still out of stock so i was looking else where and i only GA 200 IM.. so im assuming thats not the nano tech . Do you have any idea when they will be back in stock?
Great video! Just ordered the 18 gr basket, shower screen and gasket. One question, to clean them is it ok to soak the basket and shower screen in water with Cafiza? Any issues damaging the nanotech coating?
Hi Sergio, Thanks for the kind comment and question. Yes, It's okay to soak in Cafiza. The out of the box rainbow finish may dull a little but basket retains non-stick properties. Avoid abrasive cleaning tools. Marc
I don't know if I'll go with the bottomless portafilter. Seems like it could make things messier than they already are in my kitchen! lol But I do like those nano tech 22 gm baskets. I can see getting one of those for sure. First things first though. Still waiting for delivery of my Gaggia Classic Pro!
Hey Larry, Did your GCP arrive?. Bottomless can be a little messy but definitely can help improve your technique. Better technique means less mess - and so satisfying to watch a well done naked shot! Marc
@@Wholelattelovepage Yes, I received it, thanks! I just bought one of the 22gm nano tech baskets too. I'm curious to see how that effects things. I'm sure it will! I might try the bottomless portafilter too. Not sure yet. I need to get my s**t together with Gaggia first. It's a way different animal than the Breville machine I was using. Thanks for everything, Marc!
@@Wholelattelovepage I also purchased one of the silicon group gaskets. The stock one on the GCP is very stiff and hard to crank to fully seal. I'm definitely looking forward to that! I think I'll have a lot of fun and great espresso with this machine!
@@Wholelattelovepage Hey Marc! I've been using 22 mg nanotech basket with my GCP. Am I supposed to have a longer brewing time because if the larger amount of coffee in the basket?
Hey @@musicmann1967, Brew timing generally stays about the same regardless of the coffee dose. But do experiment! If I were moving from doing double to triples with a coffee I'd likely grind a hair coarser for the triple. Marc
I'd recommend the Gaggia Tune Up Kit on Amazon. It includes a brass shower holder (much better than SS or alu), IMS shower screen, and the silicone gasket. The brass shower holder also has 6 holes instead of OEM 4 for better water distribution. This is probably the best upgrade along with a 9 bar OPV spring.
Brass can contain lead. But the EU is stamping down on lead (RoHS regulations), so more than 0.1% needs paperwork and documentation on safe use. Hopefully "the Brussels effect" will push leaded brass out of existence.
this beign entry level, how does it compare to say breville one touch? or to a pro-sumer one? Will it hold it's own making delicious espressos seeings how it doesn't have a temperature regulator PID or whatever it is on it? Or will the lack thereof make the shots kinda hit or miss more often? Or will this machine be so close in consistency that it really won't matter being off a little here and there? Is the 'entry level' a whole latte better than appliance grade? You mention it can work for many years- thanks to be able to be overhauled fairly simply- that sounds like a huge plus in my book compared to more electronic lcd types- I bought the Mr Coffeee Cafe Barista before actually checking out whether it was a real espresso machine or not- i shoulda done more homework first- not happy with the drinks from it- 10 gram basket- get out 80 grams of drink (Which works out to a bit over 3 ounces when i checked) - if i let it run automatically on double shot- Anyways- thanks for the tons of videos- lots to look through- appreciate that you are taking the time and doing this for everyone-
Hey N, Thanks for the question you are welcome for the videos! We have exchanged messages a couple time as I recall. Yes, entry-level machine like the Gaggia Classic Pro is far better than appliance grade products. They retain value while appliance grade products do not. Try and find a used Gaggia Classic right now and you see what I mean. As you move up in machine grade products and features like PID, HX or dual boiler a prosumer level machine becomes easier to use with better temperature consistency, no waiting for machine to generate steam, etc. Key with the Classic Pro is a standard commercial size and weight portafilter. You get far better temp stability than appliance products, real coffee doses right up to triple shots from 21grams, non-pressurized brewing. And yes, they are very serviceable with tons of how to videos to help you out. The Classic Pro can make excellent espresso on par with more expensive machines. It just takes more effort to get that. Will it be as consistent as more expensive prosumer level machines? No. But they're a great way to learn. You could stop there or decide to upgrade down the road. Hope that helps! Marc
What is wrong with doing a PID upgrade on this machine? I've done the 9 bar mod, also replaced the steam thermostat to another 10 degrees celcius and added a IMS 22g nanotech coated basket and so far my shots are still trash, need to up my dose size as I was putting 18g in 37g out and possibly let the beans gas off as they were roasted on 4/7/2021. Got a 1zpresso JX Pro grinder, finally just got some fresh beans so hopefully tomorrow I'll make some more progress. I have all of the components to do the PID upgrade and at this point I'm sure I've voided the warranty, but I love to tinker, just curious to hear your logic.
Hi Chris, My logic is those upgrades void the warranty. But if you like to tinker then go for it - I like to tinker as well. Beyond that, for most it's a better plan to get a machine designed with PID etc from the start. On those beans... Those are super fresh and likely to need some off-gassing or a machine that can deal with them using extended long low flow or pressure pre-infusions. While folks always think fresher = better we've consistently found beans are very difficult to work with when that fresh. Things start to calm down about 3 weeks after roast. Prior to that one may need to adjust grind daily as the coffee off gasses. Marc
@@Wholelattelovepage Marc, thanks for the reply. It's always great to find someone who actually responds back. The roaster I bought the beans from had a chart I believe saying the best peak flavor came started 4 days to around a week and over 30 days was stale. Maybe I misunderstood him, I will reach out to him as well. The coffee we purchased from him smelt awesome, as we drove home randomly we would smell it, perhaps it was degassing through the bags valve. Using a JX Pro 2nd gen grinder I was dosing about 21g on a (1.5-1.6 1/2 setting). I could get the timing about right but the crema was bright and from my reading I think is the tannic acid. It's honestly just becoming disappointing as I'm just wasting my coffee and having to pour it down the drain as it seems to be salty/sour or as my wife describes nasty as she spit it back in the cup.
Hi R, I hear you and you are correct. Do keep in mind the boiler in the Classic is quite thick and low in internal water volume so it's not really an issue. Comparable single boiler machines with copper boilers cost more and take a lot longer to go from brew temps to steaming temps. One can steam on a Classic in less than 30 seconds from flipping the switch. The Rancilio Silvia with a brass boiler takes ~2 minutes until fully steam ready On the flip side, they tend to have larger water volumes in the boiler so may produce vigorous steam for a longer period. But, plenty of power in the Classic to steam enough milk for even a larger latte. Marc
Hi Marc. I think I need some help. I thought I would not need it but now I definitely know that I do. I just bought from you a Gaggia Classic Pro, a Sette 30 grinder and 3 cases of my favorite Danesi decaf espresso coffee. I watched some of your youtube videos and if I got it right for a single shot espresso I am supposed to grind my coffee at around 7 for about 4 seconds. Using these settings I am able to get a decent cup of espresso ( Not enough cream on top) but only if I use the pressurized filter( the one with one hole). If I use the same settings using either one of the other two regular filters results are very bad. I am afraid that if I keep experimenting I will very soon need to order another 3 cases of coffee so could you please find me some settings for my grinder that you know would work for the Danesi decaff and tell me If I should keep using the pressurized filter or not? Just so you know I have used Danesi decaf all my life but always the pre-ground with excellent results and I always had LaPavoni coffee machines. This is my first experience with both Gaggia and a grinder. If you could help me I would appreciate it. Grazie, Umberto.
Hi Umberto, Thanks for your question and your patronage. If grinding fresh from whole beans you should not use the pressurized filter basket. Once you get your grind dialed in (see video link below) you will get far better results from the non-pressurized filter baskets! You are getting okay results from the pressurized filter basket as they are very forgiving of the grind size being not quite right. But with their forgiving nature comes a lower quality espresso. Not sure how you arrived at a setting of 7 on the grinder. Sounds a bit coarse to me and I'm guessing your shots are coming very fast. Problem is I cannot tell you what setting to use. That is dependent on variables particular to your extractions. Things like bean type, dose weight, tamping pressure/style and more play a role in getting to the proper grind size. If it's your first time grinding whole beans fresh I strongly suggest starting with the double basket until you get the hang of things. Single shots are more difficult to get right. Key to your success is being as consistent as possible with all variables other than grind size. So keep everything the same as you dial in except for grind size! All that and more is discussed in this video which takes you through the relatively simple process of dialing in grind size: ruclips.net/video/jOY7D02n4Cw/видео.html Hope that helps! Marc

Happy to hear I've helped you out!

You could try a product like Loctite: www.loctiteproducts.com/en/know-how/build-things/threadlocker-red-or-blue-which-ones-right-for-you.html
Take out the offending screws, apply some Loctite to the threads and screw them back in securely. Hope that helps!

@@lynsmith2698 My pleasure!
I agree... although, after having a pid, I think it is possible to develop a reliable non pid technique
Basically, if you time how long it takes to go from the heating element on, to heating element off
Then you can calibrate when will be a good time to start brewing
Let’s say the heating element switches on at 180, and takes 30 seconds to switch off at 215
Then you can force the boiler to cool to switch on.... wait for 20 seconds.... and you will be at a good brew temp with heating element on
Anyway, if I had to go back to a non pid single boiler... this is what I would do
Cheeers
Hi Ardy, Thanks for sharing the technique.
Marc
Hi JS, Thanks for sharing your opinion. I've detailed my reasons for not going there in other comments on this video.
Marc

Hi MrA, The silicone gasket should improve ease of clock-in. The stock gasket is rather hard and takes some time to break in. Silicone is much softer. Be sure and get the orange 8mm gasket for your newer machine: www.wholelattelove.com/products/caffewerks-silicone-group-gasket-73-x-57-x-8mm

Y’all are really selling me on this machine. Just need to decide if I want to pull the trigger with the extras all at once.
Hey AW, No doubt about it the Gaggia Classic Pro is the best value in entry-level espresso if you want a true machine. Upgrades are nice!

Both my Gaggia machines (a baby and a Classic) are from 2001, and still going strong.
I did the pressure mod in my late-model GPC. It just involves swapping out the spring. The kit comes with several to try. Easy-peasy mod.
Hi M, Thanks for the comment, I have detailed my reasoning in other comments on this video. Bottom line: static pressure does not equal brew pressure during an extraction which should be in range if grind size is dialed in.

I actually have a video showing how to remove stubborn group components: ruclips.net/video/b-d0L_X_KjA/видео.html
That screw being a PITA to remove is common. Not so much that it was over tightened. More likely accumulated deposits from use.

The Eureka Mignon Facile is a good no frills option: www.wholelattelove.com/products/eureka-mignon-facile-espresso-grinder
Also the Bezzera BB005: www.wholelattelove.com/products/bezzera-bb005-automatic-grinder
There are cheaper burr grinders available but they use a lot of plastic in construction, lower power motors, less precise grind size adjustment and have smaller burrs which sacrifice grind quality. If budget is very limited the Capresso Infinity is an appliance grade compromise - not as capable as the machine grade grinders mentioned above: www.wholelattelove.com/products/capresso-infinity-plus-conical-burr-coffee-grinder-in-silver
Hope that helps!

Thanks for the speedy reply, Marc. I’ll give that all a go and hopefully in the right order! : .)
Its probably a patent things. Maybe also one of the reasons the guy emphasizes this is open source and he takes no money in any way.

@@Wholelattelovepage
Hey Marc... here is a tip that may be useful....
As you know, freshly ground espresso is fluffy, and so, if you grind it into the basket, you have a little mountain that needs to be carefully leveled
What I do now is to grind into a cup
After weighing... invert the cup on to the basket
Shake the basket with cup on top to level out coffee
But still, the fluffy coffee will be above the top of the basket
So I take the bottomless porta filter with cup still on top
and firmly tap it on and tap it down onto a towel on the counter
This semi compacts the espresso to a level below the top of the basket
Which makes it a bit easier to do final leveling and tamping
Anyway,, this technique works well for me
Thanks again to you and WLL
Utterly obliged for the advice!!
Hi Victor, You're welcome and thank you for the comment!

Marc, safe to assume these tips and replacement supplies apply to a 1990’s Gaggia Baby? Yellow gasket? Thanks, Mark

Just to make sure I followed, the shower holding plate is already the nicer stainless steel one on the pro. There is no reason to upgrade it, but the filter basket, bottomless portafilter, group gasket and shower screen are the upgrades you should perform?

Hi TP, Thanks for the comment - glad to put out a video that's helpful!

My colleague AJ has an excellent video on Salami shots which dissects when certain flavors present in an extraction: ruclips.net/video/_yIpi5KPUys/видео.html

@@Wholelattelovepage awesome, thanks! I'll try it out this evening, much appreciated!
I just purchased a Gaggia Pro, would you make these upgrades immediately?
It's loaded with maintenance & techniques video that can help you get more out of your machine: support.wholelattelove.com/hc/en-us/sections/1500000384362-Gaggia-Classic-Pro

thanks for the video. i think i made a mistake in buying the kit with brass for the shower and 8.5 ring for the new machine. are the stainless steel better than brass?
Hi Baan, I do prefer the stainless steel holding plate. It's a lot heavier than the brass part so has higher thermal mass for more stable temperature. Also less likely to have difficulty removing screen and plate for cleaning.
Marc
@@Wholelattelovepage thanks for your response. Another thing I notice is the ring gasket on the new machine is red vs the black. I haven't done the replacement yet so I can't say if it's the better silicon or just the same old with a different color.

Hola,
Still loving my Gaggia Class Pro but have a couple questions.
Here's a video featuring a maintenance package for the Classic everything you need and basic maintenance advice: ruclips.net/video/eT80QIcPcVc/видео.html

I have seen folks change from 15 bar spring to 9 bar spring in Gaggia Classic. Does that make a massive difference?

Hey Marc, just got the new silicone gasket but it still feels tight to clock in. I’ve only been using it with the new gasket for about a day or so but do you think it will break in?
Hey KJ, Did you get the orange or yellow? Yellow is .5mm thicker so if using on a newer machine it will be tight. If orange that's what you want for newer machine. It should break in a bit - but honestly not very much. Be sure the gasket is fully seated in receiving channel and that you filter basket is fully seated in your PF.
Marc
What is your opinion of changing the OPV spring to a 9 bar Mr. Marc? Does it affect flavor and consistency much or is it just a gimmick?
There are in-reservoir filters available like this one for the Gaggia Classic: www.wholelattelove.com/products/bwt-bestcup-m-package
It connects directly to the machines water intake tube. The filter has activated carbon for chemical contaminants, particle filtration which should take care of dust/bugs. Filter also removes calcium and replaces with magnesium so you're protected from lime scale deposits in the machine. Hope that helps!

Specifically, the water tank is so dark I can't see the level. I've been wondering if Gaggia has a clear one as an upgrade.
Hey Cat, No clear tank for the Classic that I'm aware of.
Can Whole Latte Love look at trying to get in the semi rare stainless low drip tray? It would make it more easy to work with a scale under the group head.

Hi MV, I doubt it has anything to do with attaching portafilter tightly. More inclined to think your grind is too fine. Here's a video on dialing in grind size that may be of help: ruclips.net/video/unHHToGjshI/видео.html

Great ideas thank you.. Is the GM 200 IM and GM 200 NT the same? Not sure if either shower screen will work on a classic pro.. thank you again!
Is the IMS shower screen fit to the stock shower screen holding plate?
Yes!

The reason for going with stainless steel over the brass is you can't be certain there's no lead in the brass shower holder.
@@walkerck Perhaps, but the Amazon description says it has a NSF372 cert so it shouldn't be more than 0.25% lead.
Lol, Amazon says many things - actually it's not Amazon but the seller of the product. Maybe it is certified but easy to say and harder to prove.
You mention it can work for many years- thanks to be able to be overhauled fairly simply- that sounds like a huge plus in my book compared to more electronic lcd types-
I bought the Mr Coffeee Cafe Barista before actually checking out whether it was a real espresso machine or not- i shoulda done more homework first- not happy with the drinks from it- 10 gram basket- get out 80 grams of drink (Which works out to a bit over 3 ounces when i checked) - if i let it run automatically on double shot-
Anyways- thanks for the tons of videos- lots to look through- appreciate that you are taking the time and doing this for everyone-
Hey N, Thanks for the question you are welcome for the videos!

Anyone else hear the very vague “eery horror movie” sound effect at 5:14?? That caught me off guard lol
Hey P, Good ears! No idea what that sounds was
It's honestly just becoming disappointing as I'm just wasting my coffee and having to pour it down the drain as it seems to be salty/sour or as my wife describes nasty as she spit it back in the cup.
thank you mark you have helped me a lot
Hi Fahad, You are welcome and thank you for the comment!

This is great stuff, however, I think Copper would make a better plate material. High conductivity, lots of thermal mass.

All that and more is discussed in this video which takes you through the relatively simple process of dialing in grind size: ruclips.net/video/jOY7D02n4Cw/видео.html
Hope that helps!

hey Marc, the gasket I ordered is blue. will it still work?
Hey MJ,
Not if it was this blue one: www.wholelattelove.com/products/caffewerks-silicone-group-gasket-71-x-56-x-9mm
For a lightly used Gaggia Classic, Classic Pro or Classic Evo Pro you want the orange: www.wholelattelove.com/products/caffewerks-silicone-group-gasket-73-x-57-x-8mm
For older well used Gaggia Classics get the yellow one: www.wholelattelove.com/products/caffewerks-silicone-group-gasket-73-x-57-x-8-5mm
The yellow one is a little thicker so can compensate for worn metal on portafilter or grouphead
Hope that helps!

I'm upgrading to the IMS screen soon as I find one at a sensible price, the stock screen really does clog easily.
Hi AR, Thanks for the comment!
