I live near Nashville. Was quite the scary few days. Me and my wife didn’t have any internet or phone service due to the AT&T outage (we are now swapping our services to separate different providers for future stability). We were in the dark and didn’t know what was happening or how bad the world was getting. We sat in my car, listening to the car radio for news updates. America is so big and it feels strange sometimes to have terrorism happening in some state somewhere, and the rest of the country isn’t directly impacted. Even if Tennessee isn’t as quick to forget this event as the broader USA might, it still feels like new chaos like the march on the White House and the political fighting between Republicans and Democrats quickly supersedes this one event. As a Tennessean this recent attack already feels behind us considering current events. My opinion though probably isn’t as reflective of all the people living in the Metropolitan Nashville area that was directly impacted.

I have a question I've never seen asked in all the back and fourth between athiests and theists that I'd like to respectfully ask. Why would the supreme beings of all beings, need or even desire glory? Why would it need your praise? Correct me if I'm wrong but glory is a human value. A psychological artifact that functions upon the mind of an earthly animal that is driven by motives which include the desire for status. Something researchers have discovered might be the single most powerful motivating factor in a human being. Because we are highly social animals. To give glory and praise to a god is almost like a dog licking your face. Except much much worse. Atleast you can appreciate the dogs gesture even if you'd rather it didn't. But how could anyone think that what an omnipotent and omniscient supremem being of the universe needs is your thumbs up and pat on the back. Its borderline outrageous to me. Just always wondered that and never ever seen it talked about. Edit: To clarify my position on this, I will say I have no say in the matter of gods existence but I've read some accounts of people supposedly having an experience of witnessing god as an apparition, presumably a form in which it presents itself to your limited human perception usually as a giant human figure at which point the person falls at his/its feet in a kind of surrender and awe and fear of its presence. That makes more sense. Its reactionary to what they genuinely think they are perceiving as god. A gesture of I have nothing to give you but my humility, not oh hi god great job and you're awesome. That's what I mean when I say it always seemed outrageous. Its out of place. This is also for me most evident in the Christian prayer, the our father. Although it has been said that the last three lines where not originally in the prayer and while one may doubt the accuracy of that claim, if you really study the prayer its self evident. Every line and word is necessary and revealing and in t seems like the perfect prayer. Until you get to those last three lines which make no sense at all and is instead the perfect expression of that human value of glory and praise. As if the catholic church felt Jesus left something out. He forgot about praise and glory and so they added those three lines and they are totally out of place compared with the rest of the prayer. Just an observation which you can try to see for yourself.

I was in an abusive relationship with a man who nearly killed me twice but I gathered the courage to leave him and be done for good. Several months had passed and I thought that he was gone for good but I got a call from him, demanding the rest of his property. I had an uneasy feeling but I also didn't want anymore ties so I agreed. The Lord told me to "Put on a sweatshirt that had a front pocket and dial 911" so I did. My ex acted cordial at first but within minutes, he picked up my glass coffee table and threw it at me and began to threaten my life. Thankfully because I had done what the Lord said, the 911 dispatch heard everything and officers showed up immediately and the offender arrested for a lengthy time. My ex had more money and power than I did, so in the past he had the best lawyers that allowed him to escape repercussions but not this time! I learned that Jesus is my ultimate protection and He alone is Just and will punish the wicked.

Salvation is a decision and You can be saved by admitting that you're a sinner in need of God's grace, accept the sacrifice that Jesus did for you on the cross and accept Him as Lord. If you confess with Your mouth that Jesus is Lord, You will be saved. I encourage you to place your trust in Jesus and live a new life of faith. We are living in the last days and I wouldn't gamble with eternity because of disbelief. Hell is for real and it's an eternity of torment that Jesus provided a way out of. I am praying for you and I encourage you to read the Bible, seek a church to learn and grow and begin to pray. You definitely will not regret the new life, freedom, peace, joy, forgiveness and protection that can only be found in Jesus.
God is absolutely real. He has spoken to me several times during significant events in my life & on each one his direction was 100%. Feel free to call me crazy but I have lived it & He is real.
Doug...I would never, ever call you crazy. I have had the feeling of the Holy Spirit directing my ways as well. He speaks to us through other ppl. He speaks to us by reading holy scripture. He speaks to us through our own conscience. Not usually an audible voice, but, a way He speaks from His Holy Spirit to ours. Always blessed feeling.
I've literraly heard the audible voice of God on many occasions. The most memorable occasion is when my mom was on life support. The doctor called me to the hospital and when I got there he told me that she wouldn't make and that her lungs were really weak, but after leaving the hospital I was crying like a new born baby and in the midst of me crying while driving I heard Jesus voice and He said not yet, well to make a long story short 3 days later I go to visit her in the hospital and she's sitting up eating Jello and I praise God for that. He finnaly got tired of her suffering so He called her home 5 years later

God has spoken to me several times too: sometimes I listened and avoided catastrophe, other times I didn't and suffered. Thankfully, none of my sufferings were as serious as this explosion.

@@andyheuvel4510 God does more miracles than you know .About a month ago I rode my bike to a church a few houses from where I live and my mom walk behind me to listen for cars. Once we got there I asked if a could ride past the church about three houses away and she said no but I could ride to the one before the house I wanted to go to. I stopped before turning around to listen for cars ,and a car came around the corner with sparks everywhere and the tire came off and went down the hill by the road. We went home and she told me that when I asked if I could ride to the house I wanted to go to she heard God say no . If God didn't tell her that I would have died. There's on of the billions of miracles he does.

He was saying may not be rational. Anyway the rational explanation here is, Its quit similar to how some animals move out right before natural disasters strikes. It's called instinct. And his instincts might have indicated okay something is awfully wrong here and he made the decision to turn around. As for the people in the building Welp they were not so lucky. Kinda biased of him to make this relgious but I can understand Being cop doesnt make you invincible to extraordinary situations like this or psychological trauma. He is probably suffering from PTSD after the incident and psychological shock It's even possible he has a concussion from the blast wave So its expected for him to seek comfort in his beliefs. Secondly, if you actually read the Bible instead of just commenting on it, you’ll see that He doesn’t say the words because He doesn’t have to. The entire basis of a relationship with God begins with faith. Without faith you can’t please God, and hence you can’t grow in Him. Jesus never said He was God because it defeats the purpose of faith. It’s the same reason why God doesn’t just show up and command us to follow Him. The reality is, we have a choice. I don’t know where you’re getting your ideas from, but you should really read it before you critique it.

I’d also like to say that an inaccuracy is different from ruining the main message of something. In the religious aspect, this is a proper problem, but Christianity is beyond a religion. It’s a relationship with God. As a person grows they learn more, not just from the Bible but from experience. There’s been times where I learned something from God, and then found it in the Bible. It’s also why there’s four witness accounts of the life of Christ. All four share the same account. If it was a drastically in accurate translation, the four witness accounts wouldn’t line up, but they do. You gotta have faith man. It’s so much more than just religious actions to earn a title.

I live near Nashville. Was quite the scary few days. Me and my wife didn’t have any internet or phone service due to the AT&T outage (we are now swapping our services to separate different providers for future stability). We were in the dark and didn’t know what was happening or how bad the world was getting. We sat in my car, listening to the car radio for news updates.
America is so big and it feels strange sometimes to have terrorism happening in some state somewhere, and the rest of the country isn’t directly impacted. Even if Tennessee isn’t as quick to forget this event as the broader USA might, it still feels like new chaos like the march on the White House and the political fighting between Republicans and Democrats quickly supersedes this one event. As a Tennessean this recent attack already feels behind us considering current events.
My opinion though probably isn’t as reflective of all the people living in the Metropolitan Nashville area that was directly impacted.

I have a question I've never seen asked in all the back and fourth between athiests and theists that I'd like to respectfully ask. Why would the supreme beings of all beings, need or even desire glory? Why would it need your praise? Correct me if I'm wrong but glory is a human value. A psychological artifact that functions upon the mind of an earthly animal that is driven by motives which include the desire for status. Something researchers have discovered might be the single most powerful motivating factor in a human being. Because we are highly social animals.
To give glory and praise to a god is almost like a dog licking your face. Except much much worse. Atleast you can appreciate the dogs gesture even if you'd rather it didn't. But how could anyone think that what an omnipotent and omniscient supremem being of the universe needs is your thumbs up and pat on the back. Its borderline outrageous to me.

Edit: To clarify my position on this, I will say I have no say in the matter of gods existence but I've read some accounts of people supposedly having an experience of witnessing god as an apparition, presumably a form in which it presents itself to your limited human perception usually as a giant human figure at which point the person falls at his/its feet in a kind of surrender and awe and fear of its presence. That makes more sense. Its reactionary to what they genuinely think they are perceiving as god. A gesture of I have nothing to give you but my humility, not oh hi god great job and you're awesome. That's what I mean when I say it always seemed outrageous. Its out of place.
This is also for me most evident in the Christian prayer, the our father. Although it has been said that the last three lines where not originally in the prayer and while one may doubt the accuracy of that claim, if you really study the prayer its self evident. Every line and word is necessary and revealing and in t seems like the perfect prayer. Until you get to those last three lines which make no sense at all and is instead the perfect expression of that human value of glory and praise. As if the catholic church felt Jesus left something out. He forgot about praise and glory and so they added those three lines and they are totally out of place compared with the rest of the prayer. Just an observation which you can try to see for yourself.

I was in an abusive relationship with a man who nearly killed me twice but I gathered the courage to leave him and be done for good. Several months had passed and I thought that he was gone for good but I got a call from him, demanding the rest of his property. I had an uneasy feeling but I also didn't want anymore ties so I agreed. The Lord told me to "Put on a sweatshirt that had a front pocket and dial 911" so I did.
My ex acted cordial at first but within minutes, he picked up my glass coffee table and threw it at me and began to threaten my life. Thankfully because I had done what the Lord said, the 911 dispatch heard everything and officers showed up immediately and the offender arrested for a lengthy time. My ex had more money and power than I did, so in the past he had the best lawyers that allowed him to escape repercussions but not this time! I learned that Jesus is my ultimate protection and He alone is Just and will punish the wicked.

I am praying for you and I encourage you to read the Bible, seek a church to learn and grow and begin to pray. You definitely will not regret the new life, freedom, peace, joy, forgiveness and protection that can only be found in Jesus.

I've literraly heard the audible voice of God on many occasions.
The most memorable occasion is when my mom was on life support. The doctor called me to the hospital and when I got there he told me that she wouldn't make and that her lungs were really weak, but after leaving the hospital I was crying like a new born baby and in the midst of me crying while driving I heard Jesus voice and He said not yet, well to make a long story short 3 days later I go to visit her in the hospital and she's sitting up eating Jello and I praise God for that. He finnaly got tired of her suffering so He called her home 5 years later

Once we got there I asked if a could ride past the church about three houses away and she said no but I could ride to the one before the house I wanted to go to. I stopped before turning around to listen for cars ,and a car came around the corner with sparks everywhere and the tire came off and went down the hill by the road. We went home and she told me that when I asked if I could ride to the house I wanted to go to she heard God say no . If God didn't tell her that I would have died. I’d also like to say that an inaccuracy is different from ruining the main message of something. In the religious aspect, this is a proper problem, but Christianity is beyond a religion. It’s a relationship with God. As a person grows they learn more, not just from the Bible but from experience. There’s been times where I learned something from God, and then found it in the Bible. It’s also why there’s four witness accounts of the life of Christ. All four share the same account. If it was a drastically in accurate translation, the four witness accounts wouldn’t line up, but they do. You gotta have faith man. It’s so much more than just religious actions to earn a title.
