She says that she never trains technique, scales, octavias etc and also that she never really did when she was young. It is a lost of time because what is in exercises never really occur in the repertoire. She only use her repertoire for training. To a question asking if she think that she is technically gifted, she answers that when she starts a new piece, she finds it difficult and that she needs to work. Every pieces have their own difficulties and this can't be found in exercises. Also technique is not something that you can loose easily, and she can stay days without playing. She remind times when she would play a lot but this wouldn't pay, then other times when she would play a little and achieve a lot.
@@jondavwal13 To your beginners out there. WHat this man said is not true/ Practicing techniques, scales, octaves, and etc is very important and you should do it.
That would be so helpful if you could enable the "English translation" choise. I would be very happy to be able to understand such a great pianist's words. I dont know French

I completely agree with her. Practicing the piece is practicing technique, but tailored to the piece itself. Anything else is a waste of time.
Thank you.
Thank you!
