the thing that makes twilight highlands so much more chilling than icecrown is that icecrown looks dark and gruesome and if a scrouge jumped out at you and attacked you in icecrown you wouldnt be terribly suprised, highlands lures you into a false sense of security being that it looks rather tranquil in some areas
I seem to recall this also playing in Silithus, actually, and thinking it really fitted the area. It was probably playing while I was in one of the Twilight Hammer camps around the area, I guess.
And then there's stuff like the new Felwood/Eastern Plaguelands theme (you know, the one that goes DUN DUN DUN DUN DUUUUUNNNN). I find it to be infuriatingly annoying. XD
The other thing that I find creepy about the highlands is that it's a place out of a nightmare. Icecrown was, as a zone, just one huge fort for the scourge. The Twilight Highlands resembles a normal environment, and then a few yards further it feels like you stepped into another dimension (The Maw of Madness). It's the fear of the unknown that makes it better than Icecrown. This music will put you on edge as you explore.
Proof that you don't need a super scary looking fortress of evil, fire and darkness, or an exploding volcano to be an incredibly menacing and intimidating location.
I love TH. Like many others before me, I think that it fits the idea of horror far greater than Icecrown did. The sky is an unnerving blue, and it feels as if your character is enclosed in a dream, with open plains and strange monuments in the distance. And you get this immense sense of loneliness and hopelessness. Also, when you stumble upon the radically different areas inside it (Twilight bastion, and Maw of Madness) It comes an an unexpected shock.
Lords of Shadow, Gods of Twilight, bend me to your will. The one whose voice echoes in the deep beckons to me, he calls out to me over those ancient peaks, the God of darkness demands i strike you down, yield your flesh to the gates of death, and know none can escape the will of him who sees all.
For those going what’s the picture in the background it’s a very early version of the bastion of twilight since the zone was made last and you can see an incomplete bastion of twilight raid in the background
This soundtrack is amazing. Especially at the moments where you hear the sword clinging type sound in the first minute. It makes you feel like you are always in some kind of hostile environment wherever you are and Icecrown failed to do something like this. This soundtrack also kind of reminds me of lord of the rings.
This music plays primarily in BWD and BoT, I think BRC and Stonecore, I haven't heard this particular variation of the theme outside of those instances that much. Great stuff, love the Twilights Hammer theme
If you ever thought Icecrown was such a creepy, gloomy and scary expansion end-zone that it couldnt be topped.... Twilight Highlands seems to beat it by far. Fear them.
@Posterdude95 Icecrown gave me the feeling that I was flying undetected in a place where nothing living had been in years. However, while I am undetected, my presence has been made aware of. This sounds like I'm directly threatened...which I am. Considering Deathwing has torched my ass multiple times and the Lich King never really left Icecrown Citadel.
@dogsarecool222 ...they are one and the same as of Wrath...even with Ner'zhul no longer in command the entity has both Arthas' and Nerzhul's memories and experiences
@CBleck Not really. Arthas wanted what he saw as his own form of order by creating undead servants from the living. Deathwing wants only chaos and destruction. He's a lunatic; he's completely lost his mind, whereas Arthas was only corrupted by power and ambition.
@Pepitobenito actually you are most certainly wrong there. The lich king is worshipped as a god by the cult of the damned. And the vrykul who serve under him revere him as "the death god" (both Ingvar and Ymiron refer to him as such.) That being said, Deathwing was "the aspect of Death" and was called deathwing long before the lich king was ever brought into being. Yogg-Saron also predates both Deathwing and the Lich King so he is technically more legit than arthas is.
@Calthrasful Arthas and Deathwing pretty much want to do the same thing, end all life, except Deathwing (and by extension the Twighlight's Hammer0 want to tear the world asunder, Arthas wanted to turn all things into mindless undead, which is probably a worse fate than just being...well plain dead
@Pepitobenito once again, saying Arthas could likely take out let's say...Cho'Gall, or any other member of the Twighlight's Hammer...never said anything about Deathwing being weaker than Arthas...never even mentioned him in my original comment
@Actionboy619 Oh look a nerd who accuses another nerd of being a nerd just to make himself feel better! Sorry bro, we're all in the same boat when it comes to WoW! Oh by the way, being a nerd is awesome, we're taking control of the world!
Deathwing can cause a tidal wave with a flap of his wing, Arthas uses all his might to raise a dragon from the dead......Deathwing shifts his body and the barrens cave in on its self, Arthas kills people then makes them his minions. Arthas gets killed by mortals, Deathwing Almost kills Alexstraza...sorry folks im more afriad of DW
@sumerian88 No dude, I jus think wow is a fun game. And real nerds are the ones making a lot of money like Bill Gates and good scientists. WoW nerds will not take over the world, Most like you won't even see half of it.

3:13...
The Old Gods...whisper to us. They await in their prisons, they await their hour. They await...The Hour of Twilight...
A very epic piece that needs more views.
At first I was worried a bit about these Highlands but they actually made it quite the awesome place to be :)
I seem to recall this also playing in Silithus, actually, and thinking it really fitted the area. It was probably playing while I was in one of the Twilight Hammer camps around the area, I guess.

I hope the zone itself is properly epic enough as this music.
Becouse this music ROCKS!
Proof that you don't need a super scary looking fortress of evil, fire and darkness, or an exploding volcano to be an incredibly menacing and intimidating location.
This sounds like one of those epic engame soundtracks from an epic endgame RPG
no pun intended :O JK CATACLYSM SOUNDTRACK OWN!
I love TH. Like many others before me, I think that it fits the idea of horror far greater than Icecrown did.

This picture was taken during the alpha. This is where the twilight citadel is now.
I'm now joining the Twilight Hammer. The music has settled it.
Lords of Shadow, Gods of Twilight, bend me to your will. The one whose voice echoes in the deep beckons to me, he calls out to me over those ancient peaks, the God of darkness demands i strike you down, yield your flesh to the gates of death, and know none can escape the will of him who sees all.

this is more than epic , it is legentary music just like storm peaks was
Damn you Phased nodes!!
@Krynarn I never said Deathwing was a weaker villain, I said the Lich King could probably clean house w/ the Twighlight's Hammer...not Deathwing
This makes Icecrowns music sound like a carnival.
wah wah...... pasha... pichu..... hamsta...
My dream is Living in WoW !!
@Krynarn Arthas- The Lich King, Dark Lord of the Dead, The Death God, The Jailor of the Damned
If you ever thought Icecrown was such a creepy, gloomy and scary expansion end-zone that it couldnt be topped.... Twilight Highlands seems to beat it by far. Fear them.

My favorite place so far on the beta.
No zone matched vanilla Eastern Plaguelands when it came to feeling dangerous. And it didn't just feel dangerous, it was fucking dangerous.
@T3sl44 This song actually plays in Blackwing Descent, which is a bit odd
Placeholder in the Cata Beta ;)
@XXxTheWardenxXx It is from leaked alpha, many of the stuff were placeholders back then.
listening to this music while thinking about bad events I had survived...
well, I'm getting sicker
@DokmoBros That makes sense, thanks for clearing that up.
Where is this location in game ? It's the Greyman's wall... But... It's look's like twillight higlands.
@surrender127 It's from early alpha builds. TH currently has changed alot.
i dont play wow anymore but i still love its soundtrack
@Posterdude95 it makes me feel arthases pane the way he died by his dad stabbing him
feels bad man
@dogsarecool222 ...they are one and the same as of Wrath...even with Ner'zhul no longer in command the entity has both Arthas' and Nerzhul's memories and experiences
@T3sl44 i hear it all the time first song u hear when going out
@CBleck Not really. Arthas wanted what he saw as his own form of order by creating undead servants from the living. Deathwing wants only chaos and destruction. He's a lunatic; he's completely lost his mind, whereas Arthas was only corrupted by power and ambition.

I hope there is some music fitting of the less terrible parts of the zone, I want to hear some wildhammer themed music :)
Where in Twilight Highlands can you find the place on the picture? I don't remember such wall in the Twilight Highlands.
this music is like deepholm
@Calthrasful however, yeah, this is alot more sisnister sounding than Icecrown
whats all this talk about nerds? gamers = gamers, this is a epic song!
@MatrixMagz Same here.
0:04
Bashar... Assad...
Imperios assad is secretly the twilight father!1!1!1
The chants remind me of those in Lord of the Rings for the Ringwraiths
@BJMKBKNLU I think he'd have to have a chat with a fully awakened Yogg'Saron before he could claim that title properly.
Remembers me Medal of Honor soundtrack
I don't recall that image anywhere in the game... (
@Krynarn Actually Lich king has more , much more interesting lore than deathwing -_-
@Oothur13Garona Not to mention, he is infused with some of the Titans' power. Forget which one, need to read more WoWwiki.
@Krynarn The Vrykul call him the Death God
where can i find that damn?
@AnguishSuffering CATACLYSM WAS MERELY A SETBACK.
@Calthrasful you mean to Deathwing...Im sure Arthas could probably slaughter the Twighlights
The Maw. So hot.
Anyone know what the whispers mean?
I saw some dude translate them a while ago, but cant remember where i saw it
This song SCREAMS mental illness in the largest regards...
@T3sl44 Put Loop music on.
Good news everyone! They fixed the phased nodes... *finds phased node* fuuuuuu-
there are a couple others, i used to think westfall was the only one too lol
Since when did Nightelves build a massive china wall o.o (or humans or whatever.)
@Oothur13Garona u know he is going to be killed by mortals too right? and Lk wasnt killied by mortals..not in lore..
@Annihilator27 Icecrown music did sound like a carnival....................
Am I the only who thinks of Stargate when the music starts?
@Koruptionx Ugh, I hated that. I saw a dot, no herb!
@4everurhere
But ... no one was arguing?
@Actionboy619 Oooo, excuuuuuses : D
@Perais1337 they meant Arthas...
@sitrilko
So far it really is :)
@TariqTrance He has 5 that I can think of. Deathwing has 12.
@Krynarn Chuck norris- The creator
@Pepitobenito once again, saying Arthas could likely take out let's say...Cho'Gall, or any other member of the Twighlight's Hammer...never said anything about Deathwing being weaker than Arthas...never even mentioned him in my original comment
@AurelePyroan Really? All Ozruk taught me was to feel the strength of the earth.
@Krynarn erhm arthas had more titles,,, the death god to the vrykul, and the dark one and lord of the dead
@Actionboy619 Oh look a nerd who accuses another nerd of being a nerd just to make himself feel better! Sorry bro, we're all in the same boat when it comes to WoW! Oh by the way, being a nerd is awesome, we're taking control of the world!
@Brotection ...well, w/e you say bud
And what that has to do with the music???
Deathwing can cause a tidal wave with a flap of his wing, Arthas uses all his might to raise a dragon from the dead......Deathwing shifts his body and the barrens cave in on its self, Arthas kills people then makes them his minions. Arthas gets killed by mortals, Deathwing Almost kills Alexstraza...sorry folks im more afriad of DW
cataclysm has an amazing soundtrack, better than wotlk. (but "invencible" still the best ever)
This is...uncomfortable. In a good way.
Kinda sounds like Lord of the Rings music heh
@sumerian88 No dude, I jus think wow is a fun game. And real nerds are the ones making a lot of money like Bill Gates and good scientists. WoW nerds will not take over the world, Most like you won't even see half of it.
