    Listen to this with a high quality headset and close your eyes...
    You're literally transported into the vast plains of Tanaris while mounted on your Mechano-hog.

      I wish you stayed in this place for longer, leveling just goes by too quickly these days. It's a shame, Tanaris held that lost in the desert feeling it had pre-Cataclysm and it was a joy to feel lost in it.

    Tanaris is one of my favorite places to level on Kalimdor. Its just a massive desert that seems to stretch on for miles. The first time I ever set foot in it, I had to run through Thousand Needles, back before it was flooded. I ran through Zul'Farrak and did the quest to get the stupid mallet just to summon Gahz'rilla, and did the quest to get the carrot on a stick. So many great memories. I felt a sense of real danger when I first got to Tanaris, like if I dared to leave the safety of Gadgetzan, I would be killed by either a Sandfury troll, a Horde soldier, an ogre, a Scorpid, or die of thirst in the hot sun, and even after the Cataclysm, I still love this zone.

    I'm astonished over that people does not approve of this song in Tanaris. Why? It fits perfect! I mean just look at the loneliness, the emptyness and mysteries in Tanaris and then combine that with the music!

    Deserts being surrounded by water are not uncommon in reality. What matters is how air currents direct cloud cover (or lack of cloud cover.) Much of the Sahara desert is surrounded by oceans. Deserts form from the near impossibility of clouds and rainfall to reach that particular region. Whether that be mountains blocking the flow of clouds, or hot air currents or fronts from the equator. Considering Tanaris' location, it is probably due to currents of hot air that never reach beyond the boundary to Un'Goro.

      If You See, deserts are actually really big beaches
      The irony is, most of the deserts use to be part of the osean

      The desert of Nevada and doubtlessly further east is probably a good example of mountains blocking the movement of clouds, namely the Sierra Nevada mountains.

    • @Lyko5
      @Lyko5 2 года назад

      it actually makes sense: if we consider the air currents to cause the desertification of the area, that itself is an occurence that is about to happen in the country I live, in fact, a king some centuries ago predicted it and started to plant many pine trees to prevent the ocean air from ''burning'' the land and keep the land from drying. This method has been also employed in many other places for sthe same reason also, there are tropical forests that occur cuz the mountains force the air to lift and condense the clounds wich leads to heavy rainfalls... similar to what we have in Un'goro. The greatest example we have is how the amazon forest come to exist thanks to the Andes mountains

    Good lord this is incredible, especially those vocals - melancholic, eerie, and lonely... you can just about feel the harsh and cold winds of Tanaris down your back. The nostalgic feeling is perfect because of the Cataclysm's effect.
    Like another comment states, I'm amazed that people don't like this one very much. If they kept the original music here, I think it would've been too sinister for the current Tanaris. This one is perfect for the here-and-now.

    • @jakemoffatt3004

      Jake Moffatt I played since Vanilla, mate. I know the old Tanaris well. But the Cataclysm came, and so did water to a desert, which defies logic in and of itself. Like I said, this is for what's happened now, not what lies in the past.

      @jakemoffatt3004 8 лет назад

      +Desa Iree - I don't think that water coming to the desert defies logic when tsunami's practically hit Azeroth, along with Deathwing messing everything up with hurricane-like wings.. @christiandoritos - I don't think the wind would be cold because of water dude XD

    The part from 10:05 on is the only reason why I level all my characters in this zone. While that beautiful part plays, Tanaris is the best zone in the game for me.
    I kind of understand now why did the Bronze Dragonflight choose Tanaris as their home province where they stand eternal watch over Azeroth's timelines from the Caverns. They saw that Blizzard will create this soundtrack and wanted to be firmly entrenched there by that time :D

    I remember being escorted to old Tanaris for the first time...back on my level 40 warlock...I still remember the feeling of being in this desert, with the moonlight reflecting down on it, and thinking how amazing it was. The music at 4:10 onward captured that feeling so well. Phenomenal piece.

    Chilling winds sweep across the desert, creating an eerie howling noise that leaves an icy sense of hopelessness. The night shy shines down, every star visible in striking detail as the moon slices through the sky as thin as a claw, casting a cold light across the dark sand. The frosty desert seem to go on for miles in every direction, with no sign of any life or civilization. What do you do?

      +Aidan McLaren I loved the old track, it was the perfect score for walking under a scorching sun alone, lost in an immense, deadly and unforgiving desert. This new track sounds more like a beautiful relaxing oasis, where you hang out on a wellness retreat. It's actually a good image on how the game has evolved (or devolved as one sees it) - from pretty harsh to much more easy and friendly.

    lets all agree both the tanaris tracks are good in there own ways, this new one is very much like the old track at around 6:40 it gives me goosebumps and shows the mystery of the zone very well. though i personally think the beginning to this new track is too happy and upbeat, tanaris will always be a desolate, mysterious, dangerous silithid infested craphole, but at least the music never dissapoints !
