Another lady viewer here, I catch up once a week or so but I always learn so much from you! We're out here watching! Granted I typically skip the ads because they are more targeted for men, but I try to watch the whole thing just to support you all. Keep on building!
I’m a 74 year old African American retired female and I’m shocked that only 10% of your subscribers are female! You guys make great videos, build beautiful homes, are informative, educational and entertaining!!! I’m surprised more women aren’t interested enough in construction to follow your channel!🫤🧐🤨🤔🤔🤔
I too am female and love this channel. My dad was a builder and I spent a lot of time with him and learned a lot. He also used to build concrete tanks using giant moulds. Back in the day these were poured by bucket. I used to go to work with him sometimes and help. Really hard work carrying buckets of concrete up the ramp and pouring the moulds.
Hi guys! My husband and I watch your videos every night before we go to bed. As a women I really enjoy watching you build houses!! So here is your 10% women viewers writing the comment from my husbands account. Keep them coming and please make them last longer :) Amazing work!! All the best from Spain :)
I’ve only been a subscriber for about 3 months or so. To Jamie,Arlo,Jason,Ray and Erik, you guys are comical and educational in each of your videos😂 keep them coming and to quote Erik, “thanks for building with us”
Your editing style has gotten so good it's amazing. Not that anything was wrong with the voice over heavy videos but this is so satisfying to watch that it's hard to go back to older videos. One of my favorite uploads is seeing your videos pop up
I love watching Prekin builders videos. I also watch Stud Pack a father, son and son-in-law team in Texas. Now I see myself on my own home build site just like this female owner is. 😊
Hey guys!!! Because the owner is a bit older I strongly suggest upgrading her master shower to a curb-less one!!!!! This will allow her to get in and out easier should she develop knee or hip issues and need a walker. It would also be helpful to put a wider entry door to the bath/bedroom-in case someone needs to use a walker. And it will be much cheaper than ripping it all apart later-ask me how I know😢
I'm a disabled female and my doors are 48 inches wide and I have to be careful taking my power chair through them. I also use regular wheelchair it isn't any easier. So when doing doorways for retired people they need to be at least the 48 inches. Just speaking from experience.
Yes doorways that cannot allow a walker are a problem. We found out ours was too narrow when my husband had surgery and now are renovating our old bathroom!
Greetings from Worcestershire England. Your videos are like Christmas. You look forward to them, they’re over too soon and it seems a long time until the next one. Three a week would be so much better.
I’m glad to see you left the diagonal bracing attached to the walls while you built the interior walls. Those trusses are trying to push the walls out. The interior walls will keep them from going out once they’re all built. Great job guys.
I really hope y'all continue to make videos for as long as you're building. If you do, I'll watch every single one! I love that you guys reference Larry Haun (RIP) occasionally. I've watched everything I can find from him here on YT, and I'm pretty sure that's how the algorithm sent me to your channel. Cheers fellas!
This is a great book with a lot of good construction tips The sheds featured in this book are probably built better than most peoples' homes. ruclips.net/user/postUgkxzaRUJNcbypw-fRBDbqqz43ULIa-1EGP- The author uses only the best materials and methods. It proved to be a great resource for my little 8' x 10' shed project and more 400+ plans. If you are turned off by the flimsy tin and home center kit sheds; if you want a shed that has some character and can be used as an extension of your home; then this book is for you.
Is it just me or did this post seem short/quick ? The 8" x 8" x 18' is a monster support it will be interesting to see that being installed. See Erik blower the dust off the trucks reminded me of being in Abu Dhabi, where the law used to be that if a building site is close to your apartment's car parking the the building site has to clean your car, for free, everyday. The police can stop and fine you for having a dirty car too. As for camels there are a lot of laws anout them. Great post, really appreciate the time and effort you guys put into entertaining us. Be safe, be well 🔨🔨🔨🔨🔨
This episode is an excellent follow up from all the previous ones because your doing things a bit different like reading the blue prints on camera and building a non traditional foundation and talking about it, all on camera! Keep up the great work and great videos! Forever a fan!
So many crews will tack everything together and plan on coming back later to finish nailing it all off which doesn't happen all for the sake of hurrying things along. Nice to see you going back to nail it up nice and tight. I've worked on about a hundred homes where the framing was just basically tacked together.
For people in the comments an 8x8 ground contact pressure treated usually weighs around 20-22lbs per foot. Thats about 360lbs. for 18'. They are heavy but definitely manageable with several people. They are not 1400lbs as some comments mention 😂
I worked the outdoor green chain in Prince George BC back in the early 80s. When we did 18 to 22 foot DF 12 by 12, it's a real trick to pile them off the chain. You need to leverage the energy from the chain then leverage off like a teeter toter, and slide it on. If you stop along the way it's 3 guys to get it moving again. You need 5 men to stand it up, if it's green, just to be safe.
Don't do glass walls, Ms. Homeowner. If you don't want them getting soap scum drops all over & looking gross, you have to wipe them down to dry every time you shower!! We were able to make our shower big enough to not use glass shower doors - it's just open - never any mildew, never have to dry glass - sooooo easy to clean. And, no, it's not cold!! Beautiful home, location, the best contractors!! 👍🌟
Love y'alls videos. Just a comment on the master bedroom, bath doors. I am from VA. The locality that I live and mostly build already requires a 3.0 door in one bedroom and bathroom. Even if it's a private dwelling. Keep up the great work.
Wowza that added so much work with the vaulted roof! I wonder if you could make a setup like you made to make one of the sidewalls. Nail boards to the floor in the same triangle shape and do your measurements and layout from there?
You could use a 2’-8” 6-8 door for the master , they accommodate wheelchair access just fine unless they think that they will become exstremely heavy and need over sized wheelchairs . The only time you would need a 3-0 door is if they plan on moving a hospital bed thru it 😁
In junior high school they ask us what courses we wanted to take well I put down wood working. But being a girl I could only take the home economics of which I already knew being the oldest of four. So this is like going to woodworking class without the hands on. So far the major thing I've learned you need to be proficient in math and read a blueprint. Thanks guys.
You guys should really have a laser measuring tool, Stabila makes a great one (or the Bosch one) and it's not too expensive. No fussing with a tape falling over especially when you want to measure those deck posts.
Pro-tip. When building a wall in place instead of raising. Nail bottom plate, lay out, nail top plate but run it long! (big pro tip). Run it long, nail the second top plate, install studs and then for the wall end stud, simply nail it to the bottom, plumb the stud and nail to the top plate. Bingo, doesn't matter if the abutting wall is out of plumb, this wall will be plumb regardless. Once nailed off, cut the top plate flush to the end stud. When given the opportunity to run things wild and then simply cut it flush, it will save you on head scratching time.

Okay. To be clear, retinol tightens the skin, collagen puffs or fills the skin, both of which reduce wrinkling. In theory.

With the floor trusses there is no way to recess the shower pan for a curbless shower.

It's funny that you mention the left side circular saw. Out here in CA everyone uses the worm drive saws for construction and they all have the blade on the left and you mount the blade with the logos in. We actually refer to circular saws as skilsaws after the old HD77, even most of our cordless saws are worm drive. I don't do much carpentry but we use them for cutting steel and aluminum with the carbide blades.
That's because skill brand saws are the originals of the tech and the only brand that runs the logos out.
