Holding the reset button when powering the router on doesn't seem to do anything either...I'll try replacing some caps in it to see if it changes anything (someone suggested this). @Martin Brigilia Try a 30-30-30 reset first ruclips.net/video/gczCzP9Rry0/видео.html If that does not work try taking it back to the stock firmware and see if the WIFI works there. ruclips.net/video/1hWT35w6sVI/видео.html If it does you know that your hardware is OK and then you can try the DD-WRT firmware again. Richard: You probably know this, since this was quiet a few years ago and you've learnt a bit since then, but at about the 12:00 minutes mark, the struggle you had with pasting? It was because you copied "cp.b 0x8100...". So the ENTER on the previous line was copied in to the putty shell. So you kept sending an ENTER to the shell. At the 13:00 minutes mark you only copied the text part, which is why it worked this time.
HI RIchard, many thanks for the great work. I wonder how did you find the magic number @10:10 0x9f020000? I need to flash Archer C7(US) v5. I wonder if I can use this number or I need to find it somewhere?

This helped me a lot. Somehow the only thing to get a command prompt in putty was to use the 3.3v on the cp2102 AND also use the adapter on the router. That looks like what you get when you have incorrectly connected the serial adapter or you have a bad or cold solder. I have seen this and most times it was a connectivity issue or a poor connection issue. Take a look at all your solder connections, check your wires and connectors and make sure you have the RX , TX and ground correctly connected. Thank you so much for commenting and watching. For some TP-Link Routers +7b0000 is the size of the firmware, be aware that you may have a different size thus bricking your router this will be the hex that the terminal outputs. 0x9f020000 is the from addr, for your device version you can get it by issuing the command: "printenv bootcmd" rather than searching for it
Please explain this one please, erase 0x9f020000 +7b0000 = Check to make sure this is right for your router cp.b 0x81000000 0x9f020000 0x7b0000. Can this method work even LAN port has problem, caused my router can not ping. But network connection work and lan port blinking normal
I've gone and overshot the erase. I was supposed to do: erase 0x9f020000 +7b0000 but I've done erase 0x9f020000 +7b0200 What are the next 0x200 bytes!? I need to put them back. :o(
This came about from renaming the WRONG FILE it was the TP-Link stock firmware. Which is too big by 512 bytes (for the bootloader I guess) Anyway I think maybe I clobbered my ART partition because ath0 and ath1 are dead. I have a WDR3600 v 1.5 Following CORRECT numbers, I have my firmware back but no radios.
hi there,, thank you for your video,, have been try this methode with no luck, check the ip>done chek the boot name and rename the file>done start tftpboot> on this part always got an error " T T T T T and restart tftp again,,and get same error again maybe i can get some additional info?? already change the duplex speed up full,, end it up same reply,, T T T T regard PS: tlwdr 3600
You explain how to enable file extension in Windows, but no explantation of from where to get the first adress argument of cp command. A bit disappointing. Apart from that nice Tutorial. So no erase of u-boot nor ART.😃

My only bite here is if people watching this managed to brick their router then what makes anyone think they will be smart enough to actually unbrick it? I mean lets look at this with common sense and logic for a minute: If they had paid attention before trying to jack with the firmware, knowing that they have no real idea WTF they are doing to begin with but it looked neat on some RUclips video, then it's safe to say they would not have bricked the thing in the first place...
People make mistakes, I bricked my router many times, sometimes by making a mistake and other times I have no idea why it failed but I am certainly smart enough to figure out how to fix it (see the multiple videos I have on the subject). Oh BTW once the firmware posted on DD-WRT was defective and it bricked EVERY router that used it. Most people (if they wish to) can follow a step by step process and that is what I am putting up here. Heck I have gone back to this video once or twice to make sure I bring it back to life correctly after an experiment gone wrong. Trust me on this if you experiment enough with firmware updates eventually you will have a bad one. Thanks
@@richardlloydusa Yeah I head about that DD-WRT flop and I cannot help but wonder where the QC guys were that day... i give new firmware releases a couple weeks or months before I even think about updating. this way I can see if there are any horror stories reported that I can avoid experiancing myself. Anyways it is always good to have some base knowledge of the device and basic software and hardware you are using before using it.. I have seen way to many 'Joe mancave publics" trying to look smart and brick a nice router or other device because they thought it was just as simple as 1, 2, 3 based of an outdated RUclips video.. I mean I dont complain too much at a $85 hr. 2 hr min., bench labor repair cost they pay me to fix what they screwed up an dsome revives and repairs take a few hours depending on big the flash and other memories are in the devices..

For some TP-Link Routers +7b0000 is the size of the firmware, be aware that you may have a different size thus bricking your router this will be the hex that the terminal outputs.
0x9f020000 is the from addr, for your device version you can get it by issuing the command: "printenv bootcmd" rather than searching for it
Super110336 Thank you. I can only verify this procedure works on my TPLINK TL-WDR4300 v1.
thanks...! very much, Richard, thanks by the help...
You are most welcome. Thanks for watching and the kind comment.
Very nice tutorial. Thanks.
You are most welcome. Thanks for watching and the kind comment.
Please explain this one please, erase 0x9f020000 +7b0000 = Check to make sure this is right for your router
cp.b 0x81000000 0x9f020000 0x7b0000.
Can this method work even LAN port has problem, caused my router can not ping. But network connection work and lan port blinking normal
There really is only one way to find out and that is to do it and see. Thanks.
thank you bro

If some one is stuck in: Loading: T T, just restart the computer -_-
This worked for me. Thanks!
You are welcome. I am happy to hear it worked for you. Thanks for watching and commenting.
1.7 with firmware 151104, which was the default installed.
I've gone and overshot the erase.
I was supposed to do:
erase 0x9f020000 +7b0000
but I've done
erase 0x9f020000 +7b0200
What are the next 0x200 bytes!? I need to put them back. :o(
This came about from renaming the WRONG FILE it was the TP-Link stock firmware. Which is too big by 512 bytes (for the bootloader I guess) Anyway I think maybe I clobbered my ART partition because ath0 and ath1 are dead. I have a WDR3600 v 1.5
Following CORRECT numbers, I have my firmware back but no radios.
Many thanks!
+Omid Habib You are most welcome. Thanks for watching.

You explain how to enable file extension in Windows, but no explantation of from where to get the first adress argument of cp command.
A bit disappointing. Apart from that nice Tutorial. So no erase of u-boot nor ART.😃
Thanks for you video, I am trying to unbrick a TP-Link Archer C7 and I have found you instructions the same but I keep getting the following .........
ap135> tftpboot
*** Warning: no boot file name; using '6F01A8C0.img'
Using eth1 device
TFTP from server 192.168.1.100; our IP address is 192.168.1.111
Filename '6F01A8C0.img'.
Load address: 0x81000000
Loading: T T
Retry count exceeded; starting again
eth0 link down
I have renamed the .bin file as per your video.
Any help would be great, thanks.
Guy
+Guy Reynolds It looks like the router is looking for a file called '6F01A8C0.img' on the server at 192.168.1.100 make sure you change the IP on your computer to 192.168.1.100 and rename the file to 6F01A8C0.img Thanks.
+Richard Lloyd Thanks for getting back so quick. I have set the the address and renamed the file as per your video and I even copied & pasted the file name!! anything else you can think of that would give me that result? Thanks again
+Guy Reynolds Turn off your Anti-Virus and firewall and try it again. If that does not work again try it on a different computer. Thanks.
Thank you, will try later tonight.
+Guy Reynolds Hi Richard
I tried another computer running xp and everything worked as per your video. Thank you so much for all your help and taking the time to do so.
10 +++++++++++
Worked for me! Thanks a lot!
awesome!
