“Suddenly the studio wasn’t a functional place where you go and perform, it was also a place where you go up in the control room and create sounds for yourself that people hadn’t heard before.” - Giles Martin deconstructs how the sound of Rain was created by The Beatles in the studio. - Видеоклипы
Damn, hearing Rain at the speed it was actually recorded, it sounds like late 70's/early 80's post punk. Showing how the Beatles were 10-15 years ahead of their time.
Can’t believe Paul was able to do those crazy basslines at such a fast speed!
I thought Ringo's drumming and Paul's bass were impressive already but when I heard the actual speed I was shocked
bro any half decent musician can do that
@@navneetsinghr4290 it actually takes a lot of talent to do that. I know musicians who have been playing for several years and they can't do that. It takes a lot of precision and speed to pull something like that off.
I always thought they played it in A, dropped it to G. But, this fast speed is B flat. I'm not so sure that's correct. But, who am I to judge anything..?Lol..
I still cant play the bass line to it
Rain is a one-in-a-kind masterpiece.
nah there’s more masterpieces
The rolling stones made a song that is very similar called child of the moon, it's like a weird not as good clone.
@@KeizerHedorah the Stones have a lot of Beatles song clones in their catalogue, don’t they? Lol
Raaaaiiinnn You don't mind?
@@KeizerHedorah wow, I never knew, thanks! It's really what you say it is... they seemed to notice that so it was just a B-side. Then again, Rain was, as well.
The Beatles made the recording studio a musical instrument in itself!
I could never imagine my life without this band
Same
Best band ever ❤️❤️❤️
Yeahh 🌺🌺🌺
Absolutely!
They've been in my life since the mid-60s.
And still I can't have enough of them.
This is love ❤️❤️❤️❤️
Hello, how are you doing it’s nice meeting you here.
Amazing to hear "Rain" in a faster version.
Rip John then and we miss you I hope you have a great time in heaven Rest In Peace I love the Beatles George and John they’re having fun in heaven
Amazing. Their creativity was unbelievable and the result is so much memorable music.
One of my absolute favourite Beatles tracks………….
I still consider this one of the best psychedelic rock songs ever so simple yet so deep
The drums, the bass, the guitars the way they played it backwards and slowed it down what a beautiful song I first listened to the song while I was on acid about a year ago I'm only 22 at the moment and damn what a good song it is
i think this too, the psicodelia in the voice of John is fantastic.
Rain is Top 5 Beatles. Period🌟💥
makes you appreciate the artfully applied craft of engineering the mixes ...
then ( George Martin) ... and now (Giles Martin)
just bloody brilliant !
What an AMAZING album! I wish we had more behind the scenes footage of the FAB FOUR creating this album like Get Back but this box set is FAB for sure!!!!
Wait! Was "Rain" on Revolver? I thought it was a single?
I KNEW IT! There was always something about this song that didn’t make sense to me. I even said to a friend once, “I just don’t understand this song, it’s like a cacophony of music.” I could tell something was off.
Rain is a great song. One of my favorites.
Beatles The bests 🇧🇷🇧🇷🇧🇷🇧🇷🇧🇷🇧🇷
I played the fast version of Rain for my 13-year-old son and he just shook his head and said, "and people say Ringo sucks..."
Long tall sally 1964 Washington video … he hammers the big solo triplets that made Keith moon famous at the very end of the song… and it was right after he rocked the full left hand shuffle on the snare in unison to the ride… and at that tempo, Ringo indeed got the job DONE!!! Hard to find to link but Ringo made a video on RUclips shot outdoors showing he hits 4s on the snare over 5s on the ride… technique that the legendary Joe Morello used to teach… Ringo acts less worthy than he really is in modesty.. but although age may be holding back now, he was capable of playing more than he’d ever let us see !!!
This sounds very believable
@@beastybacon199 not sure if you're being sarcastic, but he was 13, not 3. He's a musician and he listens to a ton of music. I get that people lie about "wise" sayings by their young children but come on.
Rain is the best song. It should have been included in Revolver.
No because it was left off from the album because they didn’t want fans to purchase it twice.
@@xxEzraBxxx and here we are...
I think 'I'm Only Sleeping' sorta plays the same role that 'Rain' does, especially since the backing track was also recorded faster and then slowed down, but there's a euphoria (especially in the guitars) that I really wish could have found it's place on the album... maybe they could've knocked Dr. Robert off?
Yes, I would have removed "Yellow Submarine" and "Love You To" and included "Rain" and "Paperback Writer" instead. OMG.... It would have been an even BIGGER MASTERPIECE than it already is.
@@peliche77 They didn’t because they didn’t wanna put every singles on the album so that customers get more for their money
One of their best
Fantastic information. Thank you.
Didn't Paul overdub the bass onto the slowed-down version? Isn't it wrong to include a sped-up bass in the fast version? Weird choice!
The actual speed version of 'Rain' is so fast!
paperback writer b/w rain was released in may '66 and then strawberry fields forever b/w penny lane in feb '67. pure wonder those 9 mos in between.
Las mejores canciones de últimos 60 años grande The Beatles.
I hope they release the multitracks to the public...
Even if I have to pay I'll download them.
A part of the Beatles collection is already unofficially released by accident as multitracks, but chances the rest of the songs will be released as multitracks is about 0% unfortunately.
Those are from the Rock Star video game, and don't have nearly the amount of separation and fidelity as these newly created created multis.
@@KariKauree absolutely true, but we as fans will never have the control Martin has now. So the Beatles Rockband multitracks are better than nothing.
@@sandervdbrink84 I already have the BRB ones, they're okay and I like them - but I would just love to have these ones to every song... (I know that'll probably never happen but still)
@@IsaacWale2004 I totally agree! I'd specially would love to play with the I Want You (She's So Heavy) and It's All Too Much multitracks. But I doubt if we will ever get them all. By the way, have you listened to Paul's vocals on the Don't Let Me Down multitrack? That was so great to hear!
My favorite song of all time
You don't mind?
Hello, hello, lg from Germany Ellen thank you for this Revolver,,new,,Album. I'm a Fan since I'm a 9 years old girl. ✌❤👏
I wonder who came up with the name Revolver for the Album, it's still my favorite Beatles Album.
There is an interview with Paul and he said something about putting a record on a turntable. It " revolves" . Add some" MaryJane" to the mix and you get " REVOLVER ". The 60s !
Can't argue with Giles's last sentence here.
Very Cool 👍👌🎸🎤😊
I never thought I'd learn something new about the Beatles. I just did. I was always intrigued by the murky sound of Rain but just wrote it off as sound effects.
I'm really interested in hearing the fast version. 👍🏻😎
here you go: ruclips.net/video/P3IuNGxGVXk/видео.html
It’s out on the deluxe Revolver reissue, and can be found here on RUclips
The best look of Lennon !!
Ringo was an amazing drummer in the 60's
Yeah. He had a rhythm that was very unique and precise. I think his drumming was a big part of the Beatles sound.
Taxman - legendary song
Wrong video mate...
i absolutely fabulous
All those fills at that higher tempo prove once and for all that our otherwise conservative Ringo definitely sprinkled plenty of that “Hamburg days” kinda sugar in his most likely alcohol spiked tea !!! LEGEND!!!! If Keith Moon heard this, he had to be very proud of you indeed, Ringo !!!
This is so nerd, i'm loving it. Giles is living the dream
omg amo a los Beatles
Eu também
Definitely in my top 5 Beatle songs
Liiiiindos 🙌🙌🙌💜
No wonder it’s Ringos favourite Beatles song ❤
Saudades na epoca eu era pre adolecente e mim lembro muito bem .👏👏👏💓
Rain should have been included in the new Blue album release !
I wonder why the "Anthology" documentary from 1992 hasn't been placed on RUclips or in the Google Play Store.

The B-side to Paperback Writer -- the greatest 45 ever released.
Nah, Paperback doesn’t quite cut it. Strawberry Fields Penny Lane a superior single imo. Also Come Together/Something
Yes
It's the epitomy of cool.
We want ALL BEATLES ALBUM
Missed opportunity not including a Blu-Ray with the SDE. These supplement videos would have made a great doc as part of it.
Interesting 🙂
Rain is like a proto-grunge song
😍😍😍
Habiliten los subtitulos
0:25 hard to believe Rain at original recording speed
It sounds pretty good at the normal speed. I think it should be available for public consumption.
💕💕
❤❤
good
What software did he use
A cracked edition of Cubase 5.
@@ThePoppermostTV lmao how content on official Beatles channel use cracked stuff 🥲🥲
Actually, the 'backwards vocals' weren't recorded backwards, John just memorized how it would sound backwards. Steve Hoffman, who is best friends with Paul McCartney, told this to me.
Buenardo
The drums and bass on the supposed "real speed" track sound high pitched and sped up. I think Mr. Martin is mistaken.
No they aren't.
He has the original multitrack, he would know.
👍👍👍👍👍👍👍

“We want a deep, thick sound to the recording. How do we do this?”
“Play it faster than you want it to sound then slow the tape down and record the slowed tape at normal speed”
No one thought of stuff like that before the triumvirate of the Beatles, George Martin, and Geoff Emerrick. Hell to this day no one would think of doing it if they never did. It’s just not something you do when you produce a pop record.
That’s why every band that was in business before the Beatles hit the scene were out of business by the time they nuked the rock and pop world.
👍
Did they actually play it that fast?
That sped-up Rain - I don't think the band played it at that speed - mostly because those bass notes didn't sound right - they were super high - IDK. I think he sped it up too much to make the point. Unless the band minus Paul played at that speed then had Paul dub in at the lower speed.
would love to see a technology that could take old videos & films - reconstruct them to today's standards
that would be something - really would be something
Author Nicholas Schaffner recognizes it as the first Beatles song to portray the material world as an illusion.
Waos
George Martin was truly, the fifth Beatle.
@@VijkrwEp is this a joke?
GG
I don't believe it was that fast prior to slowing down.
God
Paul dubbed the bass onto the slowed down rhythm track, it wasn't performed live (as is the case with a lot of his complex lines). It is a shame they included the bass in the real tempo release, because it gives a false impression of the process. Still a mind blowing speed for drums and guitars, but not quite as accurate to the real thing.
I prefer the sped up rain doe
Hi anyone
A
the "original" speed is WAY TOO Fast, if that was the actual speed, everything just sounds weird/wrong (the drums, guitars, vocals etc doesn't sound right) You would need a capo on the 1st fret to play the song in that key. To me, it sounds like there is no capo anywhere since the chords ring out.
2023.10.10e
Primo
I don't believe this. I believe they used vari-speed on the drums only, slowed them down and then recorded the guitars at regular speed. The songs recorded in G. I can get the exact tone of the strings in regular tuning. If THEY were slowed down, the timbre would be off slightly. I don't think Gilles or his dad want to let the cat out of the bag. 🤐🤐

Dude's dressed like Han Solo
That was too fast, they didn't play that fast. Sorry son of GM who wasn't there, and was about ten then.
it sounds to me like they played it normal speed but with the tape running slow so that it was fast when played back. then they slowed that version down. in other words i believe Giles Martin is wrong about this.
It wasn't that fast. Sorry, but that's in Bb -- and they recorded it in A. (You can't finger that in Bb on a Guitar without a capo.) It sounds like the Chipmunks. I'm sure they COULD have played it that fast, but they didn't. The record is in G. They only slowed it down 1 whole step. I'm not sure why someone is perpetrating this fraud. "Paul is Dead" stuff again? 😂 Anyway... it's ridiculous to believe they played it that way. It sounds very suspect... 🤔
