I've seen this presentation in a mango before, but i had no idea how it was achieved. I actually thought it involved some absurdly complex cutting skill. This is going to be useful, thank you.
i simly eat them! I remember when i was a teenager, spending half a day on the trees wih my friends and just eating ripe mangoes all holidays! Tasting all the variety of them ! Wow, if I have the means one day, I'll create an orchard and allow all children to come and experience it!
Why so many dislikes? Am I missing something? I came here to learn how to cut a mango and I learned how to cut a mango from a video whose very purpose was to teach you how to cut a mango. The lady was very nice about it too and I'm honestly very confused.
Mangos from different regions have slightly different textures, tastes, seeds, color and size. So it makes sense people from all over cut mangos differently. I like this cut for this type of mango because it allows you to enjoy the juicyness and avoid fiber getting stuck in your teeth.
People who grow up around mangos are taught and know how instinctively. However many people around the world do not know how to cut a mango, some have never eaten a mango, and others have never heard or seen a mango.
I made fruit sculptures when i was young and i did this EXACT same thing (except i never cut the squares out) and these would be used as shin/elbow pads and hats and other such thing. And if you cut it well enough, you can just suck up the cubes, its more fun that way.
A couple of tips to keep your hand safe: First cut a thin slice from the top and bottom of the fruit to see the size and place of the stone. When making cross-cuts, place the fruit on a cutting board rather than in the palm of your hand.
Saludos.
you could alternatively just leave it at the part where you turn it inside out, makes for an interesting table piece and people can cut off their own cubes.
You are correct, some people are allergic to the sap which comes out of the top of the mango (from the stem area actually). The sap does not impact everyone the same. An interesting fact is the mango is apart of the poison ivy family.
Jeez, that's a huge knife and an even huge.r "mango". No alphonso, no mango! Nyet! An alphonso mango is a thing of beauty and aroma, nay, divine fragrance and great delicacy! A knife would look truly beastly next to it, let alone anywhere in it! But thank you anyway, merry christmas!
What region do you get your mangos from? The mangos I buy has skin which is very bitter and pretty much ruins the taste and texture if the inside goodness.
Where to cut: Hold the knife straight out in front of you, line up the fruit so it looks like a zero like this: 0. The seed is flat, the fruit shapes itself around the seed. You need to cut the skinny sides. Naturally people want to cut the thicker side, thinking they'll get more fruit but you'll just run into the seed. Think of it looking like this: (0) the zero is the seed, the parentheses are edible fruit. Ive never cut one wrong... then again my family is mostly Pacific Islanders. ;)
In the video we only cut half of the mango. The pit is in the center of the mango. It is about 2cm thick tapering off on the ends and runs horizontally from top to bottom. After the video we cut the other half of the mango and repeated the process.
@Jerachistar the seed is in the middle, flat, so you can cut the mango on the other side too. I explained it in detail in my comment but to explain quickly: the mango looks like this- (0) the zero in the middle is the seed and the space between the zero and the parentheses is the edible fruit. So both sides are equal and can be cut exactly the same using this mango cutting technique shown in the video.
You all need to come to Trinidad and lets show you how to eat a mango.........picked straight from the tree, peeled with your teeth...and eat it right there...juices flowing down your hand.... :)
Thanks so much for watching. Please give this video a THUMBS UP and SUBSCRIBE to my channel for more videos! tinyurl.com/thx-friend

Saludos.

you could alternatively just leave it at the part where you turn it inside out, makes for an interesting table piece and people can cut off their own cubes.
I would love to visit Thailand someday, pull a mango off the tree, and enjoy it!

Not sure but you should eat a mango today since you did! :)
I agree that is the side that I almost always slice my finger on.
You killed me when you sliced the mango pieces off.

You simply make the cut on the other side of the mango. The seed itself is about 3cm wide.

How to cut a mango:
With a knife
ITS MIRACLE!!!
i can't believe i ended up in how to cut a mango ;(

ths s a vry gud method to waste a lot of fruit....
How did I get to this
i feel you bro. from where i come from we dont bother with knives when it comes to mangos. we eat it like a fucking apple
Now THAT looks "bloody" dangerous!
I have to buy and eat a mango now. That was torture to watch, it looked so good.
I have found it easier to use a spoon on smaller mangos or the yellow mangos.
I already do that
In the video we only cut half of the mango. The pit is in the center of the mango. It is about 2cm thick tapering off on the ends and runs horizontally from top to bottom. After the video we cut the other half of the mango and repeated the process.
Nice ring
No, I think it even tastes better with the skin
You should come to rural India and learn how to properly eat a mango. This here is too classy for a mango...
yes ^^
@Jerachistar the seed is in the middle, flat, so you can cut the mango on the other side too. For example its demonstrated in random websites if you search mango peeler in google
I was hoping she would cover a great and easy way to remove the seed w/o wasting any of the fruit ;_;
YOU DIDN'T CUT ALL THE MANGO OFF !!! YOU"RE WASTING PERFECTLY GOOD MANGO !!!!
You all need to come to Trinidad and lets show you how to eat a mango.........picked straight from the tree, peeled with your teeth...and eat it right there...juices flowing down your hand.... :)

Somebody actually married this chick.
i like it with skins
You give it as a blood offering to the evil overlord bob.
what's that on the pate? looks like a mess
Why am I watching this? I have no mango anyway.
You left enough mango on that skin to feed a village for a week!
iv'e been cutting mangos like this for my whole fucking life
