    Greetings from Colorado, eSys! I've always loved your other channel but I've come to like this as much. You're such a life-lived-on-purpose guy. I've got you in my mind as an EE. I've also guessed that engineers on SuperYachts have the 2nd best job onboard after the captain-withOUT the huge responsibilities and hassles. And with the 2nd best pay. And with a lot more free time. And I love that you 'built' your own GT2. And I love that you have passion for most of your...life. And you have a lovely life. Thanks for sharing so much.

    As a true car nut I understand how you feel about selling the boxster. A great video of a 'Fantastic' sounding car. After much work on the exhaust system I would say my 911 L Targa was the best sounding car I've owned. From the factory my 67 Cougar XR7 GT With the 425hp 427 cubic inch was best sounding.

    • @jameslove888
      @jameslove888 3 года назад

      @@eSysmanTech I am surprised Porsche lowballed you so much, as your price was very competitive for the spec and the miles on it.
      For comparison, there’s a Cayman S 981 here in NI that I had a look at. 2014 car with 74k miles on it. The dealer wants £29k for it, and out of interest I just thought I’d see what WBAC said, they were offering £28k!
      I know that WBAC will try and knock you down a bit but even going by that guide price, I am shocked that what Porsche offered you was so poor.
      Hopefully another good car like yours crops up. There are plenty about but most are fairly barebones spec wise unfortunately. One option that is missing from a lot that I want in a daily, and that you pointed out in your review as a great option, is climate. From reading the forums of when people specced these cars it seemed a lot assumed that it had single zone as standard and the upgrade was to dual zone, rather than the basic system just being normal air con.

      Very good :) They are meant to be driven. I used to go to the Alps every year, but not last and this year because of the 'situation'. But in 2019, I did the entire Alps Austria - Italy - Slovenia - Italy - France and a bit more around the edges, all in one week. I am driving the Curves series of books, which are aptly written by Porsche's "inhouse" photographer in a Porsche. By now, I am thoroughly through with all his Alps books, also a few others. Next year, I want to ship the car to the US and do my 'personal Gumball' tour, incorporating the two US books. I have all the routes planned out down to the last turn for the PCM :)
      I just had the 6 year service for the PDK and also did the gearbox at the same time, though it is only scheduled after 12 years, but I don't like the idea of lifetime fluids.
      Anyway, check the Curves out, there is also Germany, Denmark, Spain, med islands, Norway coming up any day now. Very picture heavy, so you get a good idea where you wanna go and many of the best driving roads scouted out for you already.

    • @Baerchenization
      @Baerchenization 3 года назад +1

      @@jonathanl2748 I am street parking mine and daily it. Also, I open the top under all circumstances, i.e. unless it is raining or below 5C degrees (rubber gets too hard for folding per owners manual). So I fold it a lot i.e. if I go to 3 shops there is an open-close cycle every time I park off. Generally, the top looks like new. I only brush it almost daily with a special top brush (Amazon: Vikan convertible brush). Twice a year, I wash and protect it with Porsche's spray can stuff. There is 303 brand for marine on Amazon which is also good, probably Porsche rebrands that anyway, but the application with the compressed can is so much better that you want that (303 is hand pump action). After 6 years, there is one small kink in the fabric that starts looking a bit roughed up, but will not go bad in years to come. So the main thing is to not let down on the maintenance. Neighbour of mine also has a convertible which he never cleans, it is all green with algae etc. Mine comes out all black as new after a wash, but I only wash it twice a year, unless there is bird droppings etc. You can street park it, it is more like a hardtop anyway. It is made of magnesium panels, covered in something more akin to a diving suit, the fabrics are more for the looks with modern convertibles. I also regularly brush along that fabric strip at the bottom edge of the window so no moss/algae grow there. Recently I started vacuuming the top with a portable battery vacuum first, then there is much less brushing action needed, especially if there is no breeze/wind. Vacuuming especially good when pollen flies. Oh and don't park under trees, especially not with berries/fruits ;)
      When I am out on driving roads, I do not close the top when it's raining, because you must not fold it when wet (kinks will stay!), so I do not want to risk driving closed for the next few hours until the top is dry again. Unless it rains heavily, the cabin almost does not get wet as long as you drive above a certain speed. If it is an epic road I don't care, I get soaked....
      You actually want to make sure your car has Porsche Sports Exhaust optioned, i.e. the one where you can open the flap via a button, it sounds much better than the default.

    I have a virtually identical blue, 981 PDK/Chrono S with the same wheels.
    My essential would be the extended leather (as you have) - when getting in the smell is gorgeous. Another must for me is the sports steering wheel, and also PDK/Chrono (I just love the look of the Chrono clock on the dash). The cabin is utterly fantastic, IMO there will never be a cabin on any sports car as nice as the 981's cabin. Oh, and of course the stunning, beautiful looks of the car, I absolutely love it, especially in blue. Truly, I don't believe there is a better open top sports car on the road today. Get the top down, and I wouldn't drive anything else - seriously.
    Unfortunately, I have to disagree with you re the "pops"... personally I can't stand the ridiculous, annoying "popping" which sounds so false to me, in fact it is false as the engine doesn't make that noise. The exhaust on standard setting sounds absolutely great as it is, so for me the so-called "sports exhaust" is a complete waste of money and best avoided. Whenever I see a car drive along "popping away" I just think... oh well, each to their own! For me the 981 is a weekend, top down, complete joy.. I just have to have the top down at all times!!
    I'll be interested to see your views on the difference between the 981 and the Spyder.

      My car didn’t have the sports exhaust when I bought it and the standard exhaust unit is not the same as the one on a car that has sports exhaust. In other words, having a car without PSE does not produce the same sound as a car with PSE That is switched off. The PSE is louder in off position. So you need to get PSE even if you want it to stay switched off or you’ll be disappointed.

    • @EnglishSpitfire
      @EnglishSpitfire Год назад

      @@eSysmanTech I think all cars must be different in that case. My Boxster is very loud and makes an absolutely fantastic noise. No disappointment I can assure you. I'm pleased you like yours, but personally I can't bear the "pops" which as I say sound ridiculous to me. Unfortunately you'll now find a lot of young people with similar exhaust systems fitted to cheaper cars "popping and banging" down the street as they accelerate.
