Nintendo then improved the framerate and added another dungeon with the DLC, there is no problem to be offended, this is how we can get constructive criticism of games and make them better. Skyrim also had a GOTY and was rushed at release too, so i don't see why with Zelda the behaviour is different, both Skyrim and Breath of The Wild have glitches that people use for fun or exploits, just like Melee, so there is reason to be angry.

Ultimate IC's are so cool. They are jank in the right hands, but the combos are so difficult and complex that they don't feel cheap and their win feels earned. And it's hype to watch.
I'd rather die at 0 from 200 bps than 200 bpm. I also think that Sakurai intentionally left the ability to do something in the game, just not something easy.
The real broken thing in Ultimate is input lag, it's too much compared to other fighting games and older smash titles. This, combined with bad netcode, creates the worst wi fi experience of all the competitive games
They should lower the input lag from 7 frames to 4 frames, that would be very helpful to not only offline but online too And I heard it's actually pretty easy for them to change that
The problem is also the buffer system, that make the game unresponsive and the mis-input frequent. Brawl has almost the same input lag, but the buffering system was not implemented.

Agreed. Having mained the character since release, Incineroar has such a good kit all around, but his speed and recovery is what holds him back in a lot of situations.

It still made dashing risky and it meant that characters had to either walk everywhere (ICs) , approach in the air and spam aerials (MK), or spam their projectiles until they get an opening (Olimar, Diddy, Falco, Snake). Generally, it contributes to game's slow pace.

With melee Roy, what they did is they slowed down the animations of Marth, but ported the hitboxes of Marth directly you Roy with out increasing the amount of active frames on the moves
Rage as a mechanic was a fantastic idea but they really should have made it only apply to smash attacks. That way it's still an exciting comeback mechanic, but is more risk/reward, and no jank.
With Roy and Marth, the problem with it was that Roys attacks are slower, and the hitboxes end on the same frame of animations, so Roys attacks just stop having hitboxes halfway through. Game and watch in melee also had the same run speed, weight, and jump height as mario.
they also completely downgraded meta knights ladder recently. most meta knight ladders are no longer combos after the nerf and it is virtually impossible to kill someone

samus is taller than dark samus, its hurtbox is different, dark samus's attacks are electrical, while samus's are fire and dark samus has better acceleration
Peach and daisy DID have a difference at the beginning of the game. Peach's turnips had lower base knockback and more knockback growth, and daisy had more base knockback and less knockback growth. The reason why nobody knew this is because it was patched out days after it was discovered.
They still have a difference... barely. Their animations are slightly different, so Peach tends to have a slightly taller and thinner hitbox. How often does this matter? Probably never. The turnips, while true, was also a mistake; Daisy's turnips used the data from Smash 4, and they forgot to update them alongside Peach's.
I never knew about Brawl PkmTrainers fatigue mechanic. Informative as always. I always say Brawl is my fave: One, it was my first SSB game and like Zero said theirs a charm to it. Sure you have chain grab, meta knight and tripping. But Subspace was amazing, the movement felt smooth in a way and I honestly love the realistic models.
9:35 Alright, so if I remember correctly, the issue with some of Roy's attacks does result from mostly being ported from Marth, but for an interesting reason. Roy was designed to be a sort of bruiser counterpart to Marth, with slower attacks and a focus on getting close and personal. What they did was make his animations longer, but they didn't actually change when the hurtboxes come out. Melee handles attacks by initiating the move, and then having hurtbox "timers" that tell the game what frame to initiate the hurtboxes and what frame to remove them. The hurtbox starter starts the hurtbox, the ender ends it. There were some hiccups with it, such as Link's nair, which didn't have an ender. As a result, it kept its hurtbox for the entirety of the move. This is besides the point though. The problem with Roy is that they made his animation longer, but didn't change the framedata of the hurtbox. This means that the hurtbox for Roy's dash attack comes out while his sword is still beside his body, and ends before he actually swings his sword. The move has a hurtbox on Roy's arm though, so technically you could still hit someone with the move if you used it as a shoulder bash instead of a slash(which might be interesting to add to a swordie in the future actually) For his up-air, it meant that the hurtbox disappeared before he finished his swipe. tl;dr The developers made the animations longer without changing the framedata.
Zero I’ve been playing a lot of smash recently and I’ve been getting considerably better thanks to your vids and I was wondering what your controls are cause you always say how you just flip the c stick for smash attacks but I know the majority of pro players have it set to tilts which is what I have mine set too so if you could show us in a vid that’d be awesome, also love the vids man keep em up
It’s kinda character dependent for your c stick, also not that you asked me, but I use my L2 as a jump instead of a second shield bc it’s easier to turn and Bair with characters like palu joker Roy etc. not to mention I only shield with R2 so I didn’t need to buttons anyway
18:55 as a melee player, I was enjoying smash 4 for the first 3 or so months of the game. One of the tournies I went to, went up against a lucario, up 1-0, boutta close out the 2-0. He back airs (?) and kills me ~30% while he’s at 150+. Same scenario game 3, I’m boutta win and die to a back air sub 50. I went back to melee
Roy's attacks are meant to be slower, but they did not fix the attacks to be adjusted to the new speed. As a result, the attack hitbox frame is shorter. AsumSaus has more info in all these.
The main issue between Melee Roy and Marth is that Roy was given Marth's animations for attacks but slightly slower for each attack on Roy, but the developers forgot to move the active frames of each attack accordingly. Hence, for example, Roy's dash attack has its hitbox on the tackle before the swing as opposed to during the actual swing itself, as it's using Marth's frame data as the reference for when the hitbox should be active. Nice video as always though! Was a treat to watch.
I don't care what everyone says, SSB4 will still have a place in my heart. That was the Smash game I played and enjoyed the most. (what's with RUclips having broken lines?) But the thing that really pissed me off and could be called broken is the AI in Brawl. Seriously, these guys always go after the player, even in a FFA. Whoever made the AI in this game need to be fired.
10:36 the way spikes work in melee is that moves that send you straight down can have their hitstun cancelled by using jump or up b(aka meteor cancelling). However, marth and falco’s down airs don’t send you straight down, meaning they can’t be meteor cancelled.
Marth into Roy in melee comes down to the fact that generally speaking Roy's animations are slower but he has the same hitbox flags as Marth. So when Roy's attack will be like a few frames slower, the hitbox will disappear at the same timing's as Marth move. Hence that dash attack whiffs on Fox in the example. The hitbox is gone halfway through the move, which on Marth would be the end of his move, from whom was the framedata directly ported.
Zero react videos are the best. Unlike other channels he doesn't use the video he's reacting to as the main component of the video rather as a starting point for him to talk about certain topics he can give a good insight into.
I think regardless of what characters should get buffed or nerfed, we can definitely all agree that at least we have balance patches to make the games less broken since Smash 4. *I’m looking at you Meta Knight.*

To the extent of my knowledge the reasoning for roys hitbox issues that that they slowed down his animations without slowing down the hit boxes resulting in hit boxes coming out too early and disappearing to early

Let's be honest here, trip was mildly annoying, but rage was straight up the jankiest, most broken mechanic in the game. It singlehandedly shot several characters into top tier and gave them insane early kills off the top and side that was absolutely not fair. It's still in Ultimate, but normalized to where I don't die at 20 to an up air (God, imagine Ultimate Ganondorf with Smash 4 Rage).
“Nana now does a taunt when you throw” Yeah. Except we have cheer cancelling now, to stop this. Fun. And we have a jab infinite on small characters, as well as infinites in yoshi, gnw, puff and paisy.
My god, this was a really good video to watch. It really gave me insight on how Ultimate is actually the best smash game. I was getting tired of smash ultimate for a while because of some of the toxic comments about certain characters but watching this has changed my perspective on how I feel about Ultimate in a good way. I've watched all of Heeew's "Smash is Broken" series for shits and giggles but I learned some things from that series and from this video too. So, thank you ZeRo for really explaining the details in this video and thank you Heeew for making a really funny but very true "Smash is Broken" series. This video gave me a better vibe about all the smash games
So this is how it ends... no more videos because of what he has done in the past. I never thought I would ever see a youtuber end like this. I was subbed for a good bit and learned a bit to, but it is sad to see this channel go. It sucks that he wont be making more videos, but I guess that is for the best since it would probably do more harm then good, especially if he made one of those over done apology videos. Soon even this comment section will be gone, which is for the best, I guess. It is good that he had gotten caught, I just wish he didn't have to stop making videos because of it. At least he seems sorry for what he did, but that doesn't mean that it justifies what he did in the past. Instead of kicking him while he is down (even though he most likely doesn't look at the comments anymore for obvious reasons) and saying good riddance, I will say adios, it was good seeing your videos. You were one of my favorites.
I like his content, but come on man. You’re making it sound like he had harmless fun in the past and now he’s in trouble for something he shouldn’t be in trouble for. If he would’ve come clean immediately, he’d probably still have his channel, and sure, he’d have probably put out a cringy apology video, but that’s just the way it goes now. Instead, he denied everything until he couldn’t anymore, and probably kept the information regarding circle of smash pedos that got exposed under the radar to save his own skin.

It’s not like a ProJared situation, where he was publicly exposed for (supposed, but not true in retrospect) his sexual exploits and had the entire internet after him for months, the top youtubers in the community making videos mocking him, he lost like hundreds of thousands of subscribers, and yatta yatta. Zero got off easy tbh. Besides negative comments on a few of his newer videos, the worst thing that happened was getting banned from Twitch. What he did probably should’ve gotten some jail time even. All that being said, I’d say give it a year (or less) and he’ll be back on RUclips. Things blow over fast on the internet. People might care and attack him for his first video or two, but it’ll be like nothing happened at the end of the day. It’s not like he even lost subs, so whatever he does will likely be successful.
The only reason Mac is "bottom tier" is because nobody know the trick to Mac, he's a boxer, Doc Louis even says this in his reveal trailer from smash 4 "you're no air fighter Mac!" He's meant to stay on the ground and play safe, wait for an opening and then strike, just like in his games, not to do crazy arial combos. As long as you remain grounded, you are pretty much guaranteed a win

Smash Ultimate is definitely the best in the series and one of my favorite games of all time. And it can be even better! We just need a few changes to things like input delay/buffering, GSP, some kind of ping/connection display, and a few character tweaks (let little mac side b multiple times in the air.) #FixUltimateOnline
6:09 to those of you who don’t know why this chain grab exists, in brawl, you always get ground released if you are pummeled as you are released and because marth has a really fast pummel, you always get ground released if they just mash pummel and Lucas and ness had unreasonably high lag from their ground release.

Star masterc Yea the buffer system is one of the other few problems with ultimate, and Project M was made by someone else not Nintendo, it was basically just melee brawl
improve the buffer system, reduce input lag, make movement smoother, improve the whiff punish game/reduce number of safe options, add a few more input options AND fix online and it's the perfect smash game (they'll never do this though because that's an insane amount of work and costs a lot of money)
the funniest thing about the icies is that you can do "cheer cancelling" which basically removed the mechanic of nana cheering during a grab. So even that balancing aspect has gone out the window lol

Rage as a mechanic was a fantastic idea but they really should have made it only apply to smash attacks. That way it's still an exciting comeback mechanic, but is more risk/reward, and no jank.

With Roy and Marth, the problem with it was that Roys attacks are slower, and the hitboxes end on the same frame of animations, so Roys attacks just stop having hitboxes halfway through.
Game and watch in melee also had the same run speed, weight, and jump height as mario.

Peach and daisy DID have a difference at the beginning of the game. Peach's turnips had lower base knockback and more knockback growth, and daisy had more base knockback and less knockback growth. The reason why nobody knew this is because it was patched out days after it was discovered.
They still have a difference... barely. Their animations are slightly different, so Peach tends to have a slightly taller and thinner hitbox. How often does this matter? Probably never. The turnips, while true, was also a mistake; Daisy's turnips used the data from Smash 4, and they forgot to update them alongside Peach's.

I always say Brawl is my fave: One, it was my first SSB game and like Zero said theirs a charm to it. Sure you have chain grab, meta knight and tripping. But Subspace was amazing, the movement felt smooth in a way and I honestly love the realistic models.

Alright, so if I remember correctly, the issue with some of Roy's attacks does result from mostly being ported from Marth, but for an interesting reason.
Roy was designed to be a sort of bruiser counterpart to Marth, with slower attacks and a focus on getting close and personal. What they did was make his animations longer, but they didn't actually change when the hurtboxes come out. Melee handles attacks by initiating the move, and then having hurtbox "timers" that tell the game what frame to initiate the hurtboxes and what frame to remove them. The hurtbox starter starts the hurtbox, the ender ends it. There were some hiccups with it, such as Link's nair, which didn't have an ender. As a result, it kept its hurtbox for the entirety of the move. This is besides the point though. The problem with Roy is that they made his animation longer, but didn't change the framedata of the hurtbox. This means that the hurtbox for Roy's dash attack comes out while his sword is still beside his body, and ends before he actually swings his sword. The move has a hurtbox on Roy's arm though, so technically you could still hit someone with the move if you used it as a shoulder bash instead of a slash(which might be interesting to add to a swordie in the future actually) For his up-air, it meant that the hurtbox disappeared before he finished his swipe.

The developers made the animations longer without changing the framedata.

It’s kinda character dependent for your c stick, also not that you asked me, but I use my L2 as a jump instead of a second shield bc it’s easier to turn and Bair with characters like palu joker Roy etc. not to mention I only shield with R2 so I didn’t need to buttons anyway

18:55 as a melee player, I was enjoying smash 4 for the first 3 or so months of the game. One of the tournies I went to, went up against a lucario, up 1-0, boutta close out the 2-0. He back airs (?) and kills me ~30% while he’s at 150+. Same scenario game 3, I’m boutta win and die to a back air sub 50.

Roy's attacks are meant to be slower, but they did not fix the attacks to be adjusted to the new speed. As a result, the attack hitbox frame is shorter. AsumSaus has more info in all these.

The main issue between Melee Roy and Marth is that Roy was given Marth's animations for attacks but slightly slower for each attack on Roy, but the developers forgot to move the active frames of each attack accordingly. Hence, for example, Roy's dash attack has its hitbox on the tackle before the swing as opposed to during the actual swing itself, as it's using Marth's frame data as the reference for when the hitbox should be active.

10:36 the way spikes work in melee is that moves that send you straight down can have their hitstun cancelled by using jump or up b(aka meteor cancelling). However, marth and falco’s down airs don’t send you straight down, meaning they can’t be meteor cancelled.

Marth into Roy in melee comes down to the fact that generally speaking Roy's animations are slower but he has the same hitbox flags as Marth.
So when Roy's attack will be like a few frames slower, the hitbox will disappear at the same timing's as Marth move. Hence that dash attack whiffs on Fox in the example. The hitbox is gone halfway through the move, which on Marth would be the end of his move, from whom was the framedata directly ported.

Let's be honest here, trip was mildly annoying, but rage was straight up the jankiest, most broken mechanic in the game. It singlehandedly shot several characters into top tier and gave them insane early kills off the top and side that was absolutely not fair. It's still in Ultimate, but normalized to where I don't die at 20 to an up air (God, imagine Ultimate Ganondorf with Smash 4 Rage).

My god, this was a really good video to watch. It really gave me insight on how Ultimate is actually the best smash game. I was getting tired of smash ultimate for a while because of some of the toxic comments about certain characters but watching this has changed my perspective on how I feel about Ultimate in a good way. I've watched all of Heeew's "Smash is Broken" series for shits and giggles but I learned some things from that series and from this video too. So, thank you ZeRo for really explaining the details in this video and thank you Heeew for making a really funny but very true "Smash is Broken" series. I was subbed for a good bit and learned a bit to, but it is sad to see this channel go. It sucks that he wont be making more videos, but I guess that is for the best since it would probably do more harm then good, especially if he made one of those over done apology videos. Soon even this comment section will be gone, which is for the best, I guess. It is good that he had gotten caught, I just wish he didn't have to stop making videos because of it. I get why people are angry, it is perfectly reasonable, but they don't have to make it know to someone who already knows what they did was wrong. Zombotany I mean sure, his most recent videos got a lot of negative comment, but they don’t even have that bad of a like to dislike ratio. It’s not like a ProJared situation, where he was publicly exposed for (supposed, but not true in retrospect) his sexual exploits and had the entire internet after him for months, the top youtubers in the community making videos mocking him, he lost like hundreds of thousands of subscribers, and yatta yatta. Zero got off easy tbh. Besides negative comments on a few of his newer videos, the worst thing that happened was getting banned from Twitch. What he did probably should’ve gotten some jail time even.
All that being said, I’d say give it a year (or less) and he’ll be back on RUclips. Things blow over fast on the internet. People might care and attack him for his first video or two, but it’ll be like nothing happened at the end of the day. It’s not like he even lost subs, so whatever he does will likely be successful.
I’ll give props to him, managed to drag out all the other content long enough to get to this. That’s really good planning!

The only reason Mac is "bottom tier" is because nobody know the trick to Mac, he's a boxer, Doc Louis even says this in his reveal trailer from smash 4 "you're no air fighter Mac!" He's meant to stay on the ground and play safe, wait for an opening and then strike, just like in his games, not to do crazy arial combos. As long as you remain grounded, you are pretty much guaranteed a win

Smash Ultimate is definitely the best in the series and one of my favorite games of all time. And it can be even better! We just need a few changes to things like input delay/buffering, GSP, some kind of ping/connection display, and a few character tweaks (let little mac side b multiple times in the air.) #FixUltimateOnline
6:09 to those of you who don’t know why this chain grab exists, in brawl, you always get ground released if you are pummeled as you are released and because marth has a really fast pummel, you always get ground released if they just mash pummel and Lucas and ness had unreasonably high lag from their ground release.

If Nintendo just fixed online ultimate would be perfect, it would also be cool if they rereleased melee and brawl with minor changes to fix all the infinite’s and too janky things
Also lower the input lag in Ultimate and fix the buffer system, that also adds to the Online's laggy nature.

Star masterc Yea the buffer system is one of the other few problems with ultimate, and Project M was made by someone else not Nintendo, it was basically just melee brawl
improve the buffer system, reduce input lag, make movement smoother, improve the whiff punish game/reduce number of safe options, add a few more input options AND fix online and it's the perfect smash game
(they'll never do this though because that's an insane amount of work and costs a lot of money)
the funniest thing about the icies is that you can do "cheer cancelling" which basically removed the mechanic of nana cheering during a grab. So even that balancing aspect has gone out the window lol
