  • Let’s perform our first measurement with the HE53.
Learn more about the HE53 and HE73 moisture analyzers
    www.mt.com/global/en/home/prod...
You now see the active measurement parameters, these are the factory settings: 105 degrees drying temperature, standard drying program and automatic switch-off criterion.
Let’s perform a measurement of potato crisps.
Take a look at the icons on the display which guide you through the drying process.
First of all, we need to place the aluminum sample pan in the pan handler, place the pan on the weighing pan and then close the lid.
Now, we need to tare the empty pan.
We now open the lid…we take our sample. … And we now need to weigh in and distribute the sample on the aluminum sample pan. Typically you would weigh in 3 to 5 g of sample, as I am doing now, but the amount weighed in really does depend on the type of sample you are measuring. You have to make sure that the sample is evenly spread around the aluminum sample pan. Close the lid and press „Start“.
The instrument starts to heat immediately, as you can see from the halogen lamp.
Notice the graphic indication on the display: you can see the current moisture content, the elapsed time, the current drying temperature and the graphical progress indicator, which is providing an overview of the measurement’s progress.
The audible beep at the end of the measurement indicates that the measurement is completed, and the end result is now displayed on the screen.
Congratulations, you have just performed your first measurement on the HE53 Halogen Moisture Analyzer.

Can this analyzer be calibrated for temperature? We have an accredited method and if we want to buy and use it , we have to calibrate both for weight and for temperature.

Thank you for your message. Yes, all METTLER TOLEDO moisture analyzers can be temperature calibrated with an optional temperature kit which can be found here:www.mt.com/ch/en/home/products/Laboratory_Weighing_Solutions/Accessories/moisture-analyzer-accessories/moisture-analyzer-calibration.html . Please refer to the following video on how to correctly calibrate your moisture analyzer ruclips.net/video/uKUkgNEVfM0/видео.html

When testing plastic pellets, what would make it give us negative readings? -.04 to -.06 🤔

Thanks for your interest. Different types of plastic pellets have low moisture content or even an hygroscopic behavior depending on environmental conditions. You can find out which method parameters can help obtain repeatable and accurate results here: ruclips.net/video/acEkBzSd2Yg/видео.html

what should be the minimum and maximum weight of the sample for analysis?

    • @METTLERTOLEDOLaboratory
      @METTLERTOLEDOLaboratory  2 года назад

Thank you for your message. The minimum and maximum sample weight depends on the moisture content of your sample. Generally, the sample weight should be between 1 g and 5 g if the moisture content is over 1 %MC. For more information, see the following video about correct sample handling and preparation: ruclips.net/video/gjDQojmP2E0/видео.html
