this is a great idea, i hope you can get this helmet available soon
Yes I know this, 1500 or 2000 doesnt matter to me.... I just want to work for this company, I really think it will be the next big thing for motorcycles! I am very happy I came across this channel... I can not wait to start talking about this in my next video and as we speak I am linking to my motorcycle forums !
Эту проекцию в шлеме можно мощно использовать!))
Hi Mark,
thank you for your note. We haven't put stuff into helmets for 10 years but our engineers did. We know about certification procedures and crash tests usually conducted. And we know how to pass them. You surely understand we cannot discuss all details of our design here. But we appreciate your worry about safety. Let us assure you that we are directed to safety first and are very serious about it.
Yours, Livemap team.
I had the same idea in my mind for navigation through GPS and headphone but you have made it more advance by adding display to it
I think if this is the beginning of HeadsUp it's a great beginning. GPS is okay, but in a year or two motorcars as well as motorcycle helmets will have this available and I'm sure the improvements will be worth it!
While I enjoy the enthusiasm of other posts in regard to adding everything from music to telephone/walkie talkie functions... I think it would be a great thing to have in it's simplest form. The more stuff there is, the more to go wrong, or distract you from the road and your surroundings. I would definitely buy one. It would have to come with a really good service plan though, for 2grand.
Aesthetic appeal, basically. If you were able to make a rig or something, you might even be able to design helmets that fit onto your product, but make them in different themes.
Seems like anything I think of, someone already has invented it. This is a great idea. I would love to see this in the states at a decent price
Wilson, hello. USA is our 1st market. We will present it in 4Q 2014.
Do you read last news about this product in our website www.livemap.info?
We will present modular helmet.
I like this idea much more than skully, just because of the fighter-pilot HUD instead of diverting the attention to some corner of the actual-FOV, hoping to see this develop into a retail product :)
This will be obsolete for a while once hoverbikes first start coming out. You wont need to look down at the GPS for upcoming turns at all, just progress checks to see where you are and what direction you're heading (without worrying about stopping). You'll be able to fly straight up in the air and then travel directly to your destination without any hassle.
This is a great idea and I would buy this! I have a super sport bike its hard to keep checking (looking down) on my speed, this would solv the problem and the GPS would be very helpful too. The helm should work with iphone too... Also , be able to stream media / bluetooth headset like a scala rider just with all of these added features....... Again, great idea, I will buy this when it comes out... amazing
Amazing!! The helmets need to keep up with the new safety features that are put on vehicles. Example- maybe have built in sensors that can tell if a vehicle is close to you.
Name it "Daft Punk Official Helmet" => Profit!
On a more serious note: This project is cool and I wish you guys all the best!
Nice to see this type of ingenuity coming from mother Russia, keep it up guys looks like a winner to me
I really hope this project becomes successful. I'm sure other tiny modifications could be added such as Bluetooth 4.0, good quality headphone speakers, UV visor shield, walkie talkie like coms ,proper ventilation, custom graphics and maybe even a rear view camera if possible
We started our project 5 years ago. Before Google & another any company.
We have more knowledge about this market & technologies, than any company.
I never asked why your helmet has this price, as i said in my other comment "I think you have made a really good product and the price is ok" .It is crystal clear to me this price... My mistake was that i didnt read your comment right and i thought that you said that other helmets have bad components, but you meant other laptops or pc's.
Do you remember a 1982 movie called "Timerider"? Lyle Swann rode in the Baja 1000 and he had this helmet that displayed speed when he closed on eye. This reminds me of that as well as the U.S. Army Apache Helicopter pilots who wear the helmets with the eye piece that they look at with one of their eyes.
:)
This is just the beggining. We have bluetooth already for calls. Built in with this will allow music you can control whilst riding aswell as speed and directions... but how long until it can use infra red tech ect to judge distances to prevent rear end collisions. Dont spot brake lights? No matter the hud did and has warned you your rapidly closing a gap at high speeds. Or even other hazards the rider didnt notice due to fatigue like speed cameras :)
every person who rides know how good this helmet would be and worth every cent.
This helmet looks interesting, and I am just wondering on a few things, 1) The cost seems a little high. Will the price decrease or stay the same? 2) What about wind reduction while on the road in hearing directions? 3) What about padding around the inside of the helmet? Has that been considered? 4) Will it work with current Bluetooth technology like SENA, or other communication devices? 5) Can it work with a TOM TOM Device? 60 When will it be standard on most motorcycle helmet manufacturers?
Yes, sure. Greece is covered by Navteq maps. Thus you are not going to have problems while navigating.
I can't tell you how many times I have gotten lost this thing can be a real gas saver can't wait to get one :D
Great idea!! but why don't you use the sun light as a power source, using a solar charger? it can be placed on the top and covered so it doesn't have a weird look
This helmet is just what I've been thinking about, however I'd prefer a version that I could attach to any helmet...I hope some start getting made
Great work on the helmet, for a car or truck driver could you put some of these features into glasses, dash board information systems are ok , but you still have to look down at the dash.
This thing looks awesome. I don't know why everyone is questioning it and comparing it to Google Glass, and asking for Halo themed helmets ( really guys? ). I hope you guys are successful. I know a couple guys that would definitely buy this thing.
great ideas... yet pricing damn high! should collabrate more with known helmet makers
I agree, maybe they will come down in price once they do a trade show next year on it, i think, in my opinion.
Dropped $1000 since then
TechnicIAN Hmmmm, has it gone down even more in price???
For the battery issue, why not put double layer of carbon and between small solar panels which will produce electricity from sun rays, for bigger absorbency the lower layer should be black while the upper should be transparent. Then you will have heating problem, you will have to put an isolation between it so the users head would not boil. Just an idea :)
Cool. I had expected Google to do this with Google Glass technology.
Suggestion 1: how about adding a gyroscope to capture head movements to control the digital compass or for projecting arrows on lanes even when head moves. (or maybe that's how it works already?)
Suggestion 2: use a transparent OLED display for the 'whole' visor instead of projecting it. This could make this an add-on to a whole range of different existing helmets used today. I'm guessing it would make it cheaper too.
I'm sure this has been asked/answered already, but why not fit a solar panel on the back end too help charge the battery. We ride mostly during the sunny days so why not use it to your advantage
The simplest solution is to have a power umbilical running from the back of the helmet to the motorcycle charging system. Of course this would be only be necessary for long trips, the on board battery should suffice for a few hours.
I'm on the fence about this helmet. While I think it's astounding as a futuristic helmet, I feel some questions about it as a good old standard helmet remain unaddressed.
How well does the helmet fare against fogging? Is the visor a regular visor that can be interchanged? I ride in the rain as well, is the helmet waterproof with its electric components? What about noise reduction? Will I be able to hear and give directions to the helmet "clearly" while on the highway? Does the current prototype have a camera on it? If so, how the battery life fare with the camera on? Will I need to carry an external power pack it I want to use the camera for 4hr+?Does it have a camera in the rear? What resolution will it capture its video? Is the helmet well ventilated for summer? When do you expect to have a working prototype? How different do you imagine your final product will be compared to how it is now?
Thank you very much for addressing these questions. I myself have been in an accident recently,so 2000$ seems cheap for the price of my life if the product delivers it's promises.
Our plan was to make a full face helmet of an unusual shape, a bit bulky because of all the stuff inside. But we kept researching. And now is the result of the hard work of our engineers: our optics is now small enough to fit a usual size and shape modular (or flip-up) helmet that will look and feel quite usual.
This means no problems with certification, usual weight distribution, good aerodynamic properties. And of course such type of helmet is much more comfortable to wear and use.
Full HD photo&video front camera.
4-5 Hours work time.
We will present next prototype in Spring 2014, we are on the finish line.
You will not need Internet connection for making routes. We use our own engine to do it. Internet will be required for downloading updates, traffic information, POIs and weather forecast.
No, but you can connect by bluetooth for calls & music & internet or use embedded LTE modem in mainboard motohelmet.
What about using solar power to extend the life of the battery ? Could fit a small piece on the top ,or the back of the helmet and in daylight you wouldn't have to worry about the battery :) !
I'm wishing you guys a successful project !
I would not pre-pay till its been through all the beta testing and al least one year from original launch dates, and reliable testing from some beta testers that have over 10 years on motorcycles. I have well over 40 years on motorcycles and would love to do a beta test and give a REAL detailed review to the bike sites and manufacturer. The price point would be the determining factor to mass marketing this product, Just because the manufacturer says its great does not mean much to me when purchasing motorcycle gear. IMHO
Fabulous ideia! Why didn't I think about that before?!
Unfortunately the battery life seems to be it's Achilles Heel.
How about adding some fans that power/recharge the device while driving? But make it so that they are «hidden» (not sticking out), and have a futuristic look... like an airplane jetengine or something cool...
Отличная идея,надеюсь финальный вариант будет на высоте
The supposed battery life is long enough, by the way you will definitely make stops to have a rest. During these stops you will be able to charge your device with an USB cable from the bike charging system, no problem.
Everybody nowadays have a gps on the bike. And is quite dangerous. sometimes, you don't see it because of the sun, sometimes you have to touch it, or you don't hear it. Just decrease your attention. But everybody needs it.
If you can create and I (intelligent) helmet, it would be great. But remember the following must for a biker (as well as a skier or others). The helmet must be light, must be silent, must be COMFORTABLE. Make test on turbulences.
Keep it up and good luck!!!!!
Truism... but a daily motorcyclist sort of replaces his/her helmet every 4 to 5 years, so I guess it might then be nice to buy one of these... that said... I do want to keep riding with my luxurious feeling ARAI... So if this system could be made available for all helmet manufacturers out there (licence agreement?) this would be an even better chance to one day test this thing out because I have been dreaming about this ever since I was a kid, lol
Mola el equipo de moteros frikis. Tienen pintas muy variadas uno de pope ortotoxo, otro de mercenario centro asiático, otro de burgués moscovita... y a todos se les ve entusiasmados con su casco-gadchet. Muy simpáticos.
yeah the coming next gen tech, google glasses, telepathy 1.0, etc already have this covered and better. People still think you look at a lil screen on G glass but it beams the info to your retina. The next step will be just direct pick up to brain. The only thing that will rejuvenate augmented shields/screens is graphene when it picks up. There is also a firefighters helm under construction that will have AR along with the computer interaction built into glove finger tips. Same for soldiers.
I do not know if it is possible to place solar panels on the helmet to charge the battery ... but it is an idea!!
nice project
We started a project at Kickstarter, but could't verify it because according to Kickstarter rules they do not accept projects connected with safety and our helmet was considered to be a safety products.
We contacted all the founders of Kickstarter but had no success. That's why the project was moved to Indiegogo.
Cellphone is not a game console yet you play games on it. I'm just saying that it would be nice if you could get your route prepared at home, set up music playlist and you can use smartphone hardware to deal with processing stuff, rather than making custom hardware (it would be easier to release an update for software). That is my two cents and you have complete product, which is great and you shouldn't change it.
Woah... You can be sure that with this, every biker will be wearing a helmet if just to feel like Robocop. If it's Android-based, I'm pretty sure somebody will make a HEV suit/ Halo armor/ Robocop style HUDs.
to higher price, most riding will be done in familiar locations.Only on tour will this excel, you will need to drop the price by a lot to get the average rider to buy most in my area don't even pay for a decent full faced helmet. Heat is also going to be a issue for Australia, no way people in AU will ride around with visor down all day.
Definitely gonna get one. This looks awesome.
thumbs up for a Nice work with team it is a wonderful idea.i am working on a prototype like one of those here in Accra Ghana.I hope some day i will join you guys on same project too..All the best
Why not build in a flex solar panel to assist the battery, work excellent on our gliders love your idea on the GPS
Because it would be the first thing to break in an accident and those are expensive to replace
That's exactly what I thought. I always found it strange that more solar tech isn't integrated into new products with such large surface areas more frequently such as the roofs of cars, buses and trucks. The helmet definitely has enough of a surface area that is exposed to sunlight. I wonder if the costs and/or weight are just too prohibitive? And I agree, in an accident the last thing I'm going to worry about is a cracked solar panel; I'll just be glad the helmet keeps me from cracking my skull!
This is SUPER, this is amazing. Congratulations for work of you.
Hey! I saw you on the MKAD ring 2 months ago! I remember yellow license plate !
What an amazing idea! Really helpfull for a rider! I wish I could participate to this project or even test the helmet!! as you create your own helmet chassis.. have you thought to add the ability of rear view?? a small camera on the first-upper rear curve that will show the image of the rear view on the upper upper left part of the visor, further away from the main-centre area where the eye focus and the data are presented! The helmet is expensive but I really think that worth it to buy it!

Никита, шлем будет с глонасс. В России будут продажи с 2015г
+LivemapNavigation Would definitely get one IF. It didn't look, no offense, less silly. The front looks very strange. If I spend so much on my motorcycle and gear, I want to look good (me personally)and well it just does not look nice imo.
2020 На заказ бы делали его,уже подняли бы хорошо дело)
Yes, we did.
why don't you put a solar panel on the top of the head
It probably wouldn't be powerful enough to power it.
we have the same thought!!
Moving in the right direction but the only thing I wonder is if the cost of the helmet will be affordable for consumers therefore making it a profitable build and worthwhile?
Eld, you can donate 1 or 10$ or more - every dollar is count.
The project appeared to be so successful that we got many term sheets from venture capital. This refers to millions of USD. Currently we conduct negotiations with investors who contacted us.
In this way, people who would like to place a pre-order for $1500 but are afraid that we will not raise the required amount of money at IndieGoGo, should not worry, expences will be covered by venture capital.
Project reaches target: Suddenly all crew owns BMW bikes. Others get GS, others get GT etc.
Makes sense.
great idea wish you good luck, the problem with batteries try to resolve whit solar power
it is only a suggestion :)
Why not make it solar power? A lot of bikers don't ride out in the rain. At the very least, the helmet can run on the battery, and use a solar panel to help prolong the battery life a little longer. Then have an AC charger adapter so if people need to charge it, they can pull over and charge it for a bit in emergency situations.
It's offline for routing trace & online for POI, another online services.
i think the main problem with this is motorbikers already have a helmet they love and dont want to switch to a new one. i think you would have much more success if you could create something that would fit in/on any helmet and display the info on the visor so it could be used with your favorite helmet.
That is exactly what i am looking for when on my bike. I want, need.
PART 5 OF OUR ANSWER
We are also asked another question - why not to make a module that any one can use in his helmet? Now imagine an optics module that needs definite space (and that has not to touch your head, thus should be placed inside the foam), main board and batteries. Will you find a place in your usual helmet that fits tightly and hardly lets you put your finger between it and your head? Say nothing about the visor that should have a special shape to be used as a projection surface.
Because those helmets look awesome albeit entirely fictional.
You are wearing the helmet and sitting on a motorcycle that has a battery and alternator... use an umbilical to power the helmet from the motorcycle. That is actually preferable to me. When I ride I ride as one with my motorcycle. Having a connection to the motorcycle means you are never stuck without power to the helmet... .it becomes something you can rely on. Look at the Japanese company Geltec for its revolutionary Beta Gel impact absorbing technology and you have a whole package that works!
Sounds OK except the weight, wind noise and the cost!! Scully is around 500 so I think this would be the price point for listing. I would love to try one around Canada and Eastern US for a year then give an honest user beta test!! Make it happen guys!!
Scully team is powerpoint team. Look our answer about these guys below.
We considered the idea with fans, but they provide too little energy to be worth of being used (and make too much noise).
By the way, the helmet shape is going to be enough futuristic (look at the shape of the visor for example, with its negative inclination angle it looks like a knights helmet).
PART 4 OF OUR ANSWER
Another idea I want to share with you as a person who wears glasses. If you wear a full-face helmet, putting it on looks like the following: take your glasses off - put your helmet on - open the visor - put your glasses on - close the visor. If you want to put off your helmet, you do the same in the reverse direction. Do you want to do it some times a day? I hardly believe in it.
came up with this a year ago... decided to go for a more broadly used consumer device instead.
This helmet would be great snowmobilers.
I just want the HUD tech without the helmet. They should make it like the 2003 Sportvue.
Can check out the review on webbikeworld slash heads-up-display
Don't put that in the centre, it's innecesary. Put In the left or right, is best for consetration.
No, you are absolutely incorrect. If you put info in the left or right, it will be dangerous, because you need to refocus eyes from the road to the corner.
The RIGHT & SAFETY hud only in the center!
LivemapNavigation but more tiny
I would love to support this project and actually pre-purchase a helmet. But thanks to Australia's ridiculously high standards I won't be able to unless it get certified AS/NZ1698! :(
i'm glad to see this new type of helmet
but i am worry about radiation,
is there any problem actually we are using more sensible part in our human head
thanks inadvance
Thank you. You have my support in this.
looks awesome!!!
Really good idea!
But remember if you take a cheap helmet and put all that great stuff in, not many people will buy it!
Pls make a contract with the leading helmet companies like shoei, schuberth, hjc ...
Please don´t make the mistake and take a cheap model!
Norms only mean it is the minimum!
I think i will be a future buyer if everything works!
Will be European maps available?
(the thing with the compass...nice!)
Yes, they did.
integrating solar charging will be a good idea.
The supposed battery life is going to be long enough. Nevertheless, you can charge your helmet during a stop (you probably make stops to have a rest, don't you?). We think that having a cable that connects your bike and your helmet is unsafe while riding.
We do not quite understand you.
You will be able to select any regions of the currently available Navteq maps.
If you mean using your custom maps from other sources, it is not possible, because our software cannot use maps other than specified (you surely understand the reasons).
i think it's a cool concept, but i do believe that it is too specific. Enhanced interfaces are being developed for everyday life (ie google glass and others). These are bigger companies with more R&D money and i can see it working in any situation. If you'd wear one of those inside your helmet, it already makes this idea obsolete?
I agree with you, about battery life seems to be it's Achilles Heel.
Jonathan Ive, loves thin phones & dream about iPhone with knife dimensions. But i think the phone is not a knife for bread & butter.
Many people in our team terribly furious when the phone is quickly discharge And we are solved this problem - we put to the helmet 6 000 mah battery.
Keep up the good work! By the way, do you ever intent to make it to Asia market like Singapore and Malaysia - it would be a bonus to us and there are many people around me like this idea of HUD GPS if the price can be a little lower.
We have plans to integrate enough vents.
PS Sure, we are not a fools. It's only dimensions prototype, not a final shell.
I can NOT wait!!
Point being why pay around 1k+ (im sure it will be even more at first lol) for one helm when u can pay that for an interface (mind you that really isn't even glasses) that has a projector and does does 100000x more things.
it's be better if the display wasn't in the main field of focus for our view, like off to the corner.
Especially for us younger riders who grew up playing games where the minimap was in the corner, it'd be second nature for us to easily glance at it while driving.
KickStarter didn't approve our project with short comment "we didn't approve any safety products". You can support our project in Indiegogo, i can't see any problems.
Stretched Goals
300 000$
Bluetooth with headset profile (for using the helmet as a headset).
500 000$
Built-in high-resolution 13Mpix photo&video camera.
PS Did you support us at IndieGoGo?
To extend the battery-life, have you thought about installing solar panels in the helmet?
We already have partnership with world-name motohelmet manufacture.
Looks superb! Wonderful idea.
Hello! Thanks for your questions.
1) The components have a high price. Price is realistic with this specific.
2) No problems, we solved it
3) The helmet have standard materials inside.
4) Bluetooth yes
5) No, it's impossible.
6) Never, it's not embedded product for different helmets, its new helmet from zero level.
