    I love your riding style and I wish that I had the groomers to train on. You sold me on Donek a long time ago.
    You inspire so many riders to learn how to carve properly, bringing riding back to its fundamentals. As a snowboard instructor, i find that most students don't have a clue what carving is and why it is so important.
    It seems like a lot of riders start out so park oriented and don't understand how their board performs and why. You are highlighting a huge part of snowboarding that a lot of riders don't understand, how to control their snowboard with the correct movements that balance a physically demanding turn, under variable conditions.
    How to ride bumps, icy areas, trees, and natural features, so you are not limited when you see that double black Diamond or that perfect stash of powder.
    For upper level riders, you provide a much needed blend of alpine and freestyle snowboarding. They are so much better together. Carving is an amazing part of snowboarding; thanks for making it real for soft booters everywhere.
    Cheers

      The crazy part to me with it... and I'm sure you see the same... is usually the only people I actually see carving is instructors, pros, and alpine riders. Tons of riders I'm pretty sure think they are carving... but in reality, its just high speed skidded turns back and forth. And for real powerful riding... skidded turns just doesn't cut it for being able to ride not only the regular parts of the runs well, but jumps, pipe, and even rails, having a foundation of actually being able to carve into and out of things just makes it soooo much easier. Thanks and happy shreddin!

      Thanks. I still feel like I fully haven't captured how I ride when I'm just shreddin by myself on a wide open run. :) The selfie stick taping just has some limitations, and even having others tape along side, it's just not the exact turns and tricks that I make when I'm not thinking about the camera angle, where the filmer is etc. Happy shreddin Wyatt!

    Ryan - as usual, you are amazing bro. I have a small request, would you mind showing in the future your bindings' position? I see Bernie's bindings are different setup than normal. Would you mind just making a quick video next time and speak about the reason why you do it that way and the benefits? Thank you sir!!

    Great content as usual. I have learned a lot from your videos and really appreciate it. On a recent trip to the French Alps I struggled to apply your techniques to the more challenging pistes (Reds with bumps). Do you have any tips or past videos covering how to carve nicely around varied and more challenging terrain?

    • @bijucyborg
      @bijucyborg 6 лет назад

      Sam G the thing with going during the season is that the reds and blues are just full of moguls(bumps) after 2 hrs of opening. I'm going beginning of April to a lesser knowns resort in Austria to see if I get less busy slopes.

    52yr and started snowboarding last year,intend to be still boarding when im 65. Can you comment about Bernie's stance, is that a down hill stance + AND + interested in the pro's and cons of that, getting older and knee's arnt what they should be snowboarding and 35 yrs construction not helping.

    Hey Ryan, I know this video is from a long time ago but I want to ask a Q if you see this. From all these angles I see when you do toe side carves, is your back leg bent more than the front? If so, why is that?

    Hey Ryan, great vid, a very fluid on the move production, I enjoyed it loads. Noticed your mate Bernie was riding goofy with both feet facing forwards? I was thinking of trying that on my faster / longer board to find out how riding differs as I tend to want to turn forwards facing at the shoulder at speed and it's influencing my board travel/skewing my line...just doesn't feel right at -15/15.....he looks comfortable riding one direction.......any idea of his angles?

    • @RyanKnapton
      @RyanKnapton  6 лет назад

      really just depends on how you want to ride. For me I like going switch and having it feel the same as regular, so 15,-15 on a twin feels perfect. He's on a narrower board that is very directional, so he uses angles more similar to what he was use to with previously alpine snowboarding (hard boots). Cranking angles up higher with a +,+ stance can be great for carving, and not having the boots hang over the edge of the board... but then switch riding is compromised... so it all just depends how you want to do it. Good luck and happy shreddin!

    • @bijucyborg
      @bijucyborg 6 лет назад

      I have a narrow board this season and switching to +;+ seemed better although I need a few more runs to ascertain this aspect. But as Ryan mentioned riding switch is almost impossible.

  • @ck2t528
    @ck2t528 5 лет назад

    I'm getting back into riding more and I'll be doing more carving. I thought I was getting a wider board when I just bought the 2019 EJack Lib Tech without realizing my other board was just about as wide 26.4 w and I did get some toe drag from my size 12 boots. Do you think that I will be okay or do you think that I need to have Shawn make me a donek board with wider Center

    • @ck2t528
      @ck2t528 5 лет назад

      I just put the bindings on the EJack Knife Lib Tech board but have not rode it yet. I would hate to take it back because I may lose some money? And feel dumb. Please help. But I am afraid of getting toe and heel drag without getting a wider board? Help me out. I have a hard time making decisions?

    • @RyanKnapton
      @RyanKnapton  5 лет назад +1

      Hi,. With that width and 12 boots carving will work. I would expect some problems if you're going for full laid-out carves but that's not for everyone anyways. My general recommendation is use the gear you have, and once your carving good enough to the point that our occasionally falling because of 'boot-out', then it's time to go wider (if deeper and more aggressive carving is your goal). If ya ever do pull the trigger on a Donek, I'm happy to help with specs. ✌️🏂

    • @ck2t528
      @ck2t528 5 лет назад

      @@RyanKnapton Yes that is the goal. I've never tried to lay it out that much. But I can carve ( realy carve) and I have been booted out. But your right I'm going to give my new board a shot and then if I need I'll get one made. How long does it take him to make and send me a board after I tell him what I want? Thanks for your help.

    • @RyanKnapton
      @RyanKnapton  5 лет назад

      Sounds good. Generally the custom boards take 7-10 days to make at this time of year.

    • @ck2t528
      @ck2t528 5 лет назад

      @@RyanKnapton cool thanks. I guess right now I have the cash to have both boards. So when I know for sure I need the fat one then I'll just have 2 bad ass boards. And that will be ok I guess. The EJack will be my big mountain and my custom will be my carving groomer.
