From what I've read so far: 1. Goodnight Punpun 2. Solanin 3. Girl on the Shore Girl on the shore I find the worst but don't think its as bad as people say
@@ForceDeth76 I don't think girl on the shore is bad at all. The oversexualisation is important for the plot and I think the behavior of the characters is very fitting for the setting. I also really like the ending
Goodnight punpun just hits different, its easily my personal favorite but I don't recommend to many people because of how depressing it is, it feels way to real

Punpun had me so fucked up inside, I think it has had a lasting depressing effect on me, cause goddam do I feel like shit even more often than before. Still one of my absolute favorites up there with Made in Abyss, Steel Ball Run, Berserk, Chainsaw Man and Akira.
@@miloradbulatovic9711 It's certainly not for everyone, but I would definitely say yes, the world building is very well done, the art (especially the backgrounds) is gorgeous, the characters are very compelling with a villain (who's not even the final one) who's up there with Griffith in terms of impact and presence, and it actually feels like (even though I'm confident it won't happen) the main character could actually die if the author felt like it because the dangers of the world are actually that dangerous. It's also one of those excellent manga where I would say the anime actually surpasses it, especially considering the music.
Love this format ranking mangakas works. Would be super interesting seeing a video on this on osamu tezuka.....though i suspect it wouldnt be short 😂 Not so many mangatubers talk about and have read as much osamu tezuka as you, and its a shame.
A Tezuka ranking is definitely on the way, though I can’t promise when it’ll come out. At this point I’ve read 33/38 of his English physical series, so once I read the rest I can start recording 🙌
@ThePromG Oh awesome! Excited and looking forward to it!!! 33/38 is impressive. Will definitely be worth the wait. But also sad when there is nothing left for you to read by him 😅
Punpun is probably his Iconic work, cause most his character design kinda blend with each other on how realistic they are, besides from Punpun himself.
i think girl on the shore connects to the teenage / younger / young people changing into adults. as you are older and kinda past this stage, but the teens who read it, i feel it’s better suited to that demographic
i agree w you %100! i read this book when i was 16ish & i absolutely loved the manga, i loved the simplicity covered w teenage angst in it & i find that the characters were not likeable enough however they were young, immature & stupid which i believed were really real lol
i loved a girl on the shore and really liked the characters, specially Isobe tho. idk, i thought their struggles were kinda relatable and i like to see a casual sex relationship being represented like that.
I liked Dead dead alot, read 7 volumes and so far Inio Asano is really kicking it off with one of his best. I haven't read what a wonderful world and A girl on the shore, but after hearing your input on What a wonderful world I'll hope for some way to pick this up! Thanks for the video m8

7. The girl on the shore 6. Nijigahara Holograph 5. What a wonderful world 4. Downfall 3. Solanin 2. Goodnight PunPun 1. Dead Dead Demon's Dededede Destruction
I just started reading Inio Asano's manga and I started with pun pun and loved it. I should have watched this first because my next purchase was girl on the shore and it's not the worst manga I have ever read but I didn't like it. Wish I would've bought Solanin instead. Loved your video and now I'm going to start looking for Dead Dead Demon’s Dedededed.
i really dont like the bad rep that girl on the shore gets bc to say its meaningless is just bad interpretation. i feel like to me i could connect with how he was feeling through the most part.
I really want to get into some inio asano probably want to get into goodnight punpun. I heard it was sad as shit. Great to see it's on your second spot. I never really knew the artwork from asano was this beautiful. Great video bro.
I decided to start reading through all his manga recently as well. I read A Girl on the Shore like 4 years ago and it became one of my favorite books. I reread it again about a month ago and still loved it. I understand why people don't like it, but I personally related to a lot of the things in it which is probably why I like it so much. Plus it introduced me to Happy End which is a major plus! I'm about a quarter through Solanin right now and I'm enjoying it so far. I'm graduating from uni in June and am experiencing a lot of the same things so I think there couldn't be a better time for me to read it.
I also read Solanin when I was in university, and it definitely hit hard then 😅 As for Girl on the Shore, I do hear that a lot of people relate to the story and that’s why they like it. Totally valid, seems to be a love it or hate it manga depending on your life experience!
Very excited for the final volumes of dead dead demon's to get realized physically in english. I hope it starts to gain more notoriety once its more available. Its absolutely my favorite manga of all time. Inio Asano is just so good, making us nitpick between incredible works
I absolutely did not enjoy Oyasumi PunPun. It provides the reflection that I was not prepared for, and it changed me. It put me in a dark place. The female is interesting too, what I loved is all the characters were shitty people, all laying in the gray area. Also the male character just mentally getting healthier after meeting the girl in the picture showed how young and immature he really is and I think it works. Holograph really interested me, it's the manga that probably got me thinking the most about it after finishing from Asano's library. There's still stuff I don't get haha. Downfall is great! What I love about is that it's the least dramatic out of all the other mangas, it's more realistic, even Solanin had some elements that didn't feel real, it's short and straight to the point. What a wonderful world's wacky at times yet brutal moments really make it stand out but it ultimately isn't Isano's peak story telling.
I read DDDD first and thats what got me into Inio Asano. Really love his artwork and narrative. However, I've read Goodnight PunPun and just started vol 2 and my goodness it's so bleak and depressing.
